- The well-known tune The Dark Island was written by accordianist Iain MacLachlan from Benbecula, an island of the Outer Hebrides in the Atlantic Ocean, off the west coast of Scotland. The island is also known in Gaelic poetry as An t-Eilean Dorcha "the dark island".
It was written for the BBC film "The Dark Island" in 1963.

I Do not recall hearing this before. It has a certain haunting among those notes, that causes one to listen just a little longer. It is rather odd how certain notes can move ones spirit to the point of praising God for the ability to hear such beauty, and for sure for creating those who play so wonderfully. Great Scott's a Scottish traditional song/tune done on the lead guitar I've heard it play on the bag pipes and accordian a few times play it my self on the accordian but this is a truly wonderful Powerful version 👍👌👋👋all best /Tony from Scotland 🏴
