Michael Jackson and Freddie were friends. Queen wasn’t even going to release this song but Freddie let Michael listen to it. Michael told him they were crazy not to release it. It became Queen’s biggest hit in the states.

Though Queen didn't initially plan to release the song, they did include "Another One Bites The Dust" in their concert playlist.
Michael Jackson was a big fan of Queen and always came to see them went they performed in LA. After the concert, Michael came backstage to visit with Queen. Michael had been telling Queen for some time that they needed " a song the cats can dance to". When he heard them perform "Another One Bites the Dust", he told them they had to release it as a single. Roger and Brian were not sold on releasing it because they thought it sounded too disco (neither of them liked disco) but Freddie fought hard to release it.
Freddie and John won and it was released and became Queen's biggest worldwide hit!

Fun fact: Freddie and Michael were both Virgos born in the year of the Dog. Barry Gibb too, and he was a good friend of Michael's. I've found that the year of the Dog is particularly good at producing top artists (at least based on success/fame). Others include David Gilmour, Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, Andy Gibb, Anita Baker, Madonna, Prince, Alan Jackson, Justin Bieber, Harry Styles and countless others.

Hi Shon. Back in 1983, when my son was 5 years old, he had a pacemaker implanted. We told him we would get him something as a reward after his surgery. He said he wanted a tape with this song. It was his favorite song. The staff in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit laughed at his playing "Another One Bites the Dust" as he was recovering.

+andrea.... Well, the bassline is so similar to the one in Chic's song “Good Times” from 1979 (one year before Another One Bites The Dust) that one could almost call it a copy. At least it's higly influenced.

@@svenlima you’re right, John Deacon was with Chic in the studio when good times was written.

A lot of people get pissed when you point out that this is their biggest hit. They just expect it to be 'Bho Rhap'. But by hitting #1 in the states, which 'Bho Rhap' didn't, 'Another One Bites the Dust' takes the cake.

This song undoubtedly influenced Michael Jackson's Thriller and Bad albums. He clearly studied Freddie and the Queen sound of this particular genre. Funny story, way back in 1980 when this song was released I was working 2nd shift in a print shop and we'd be cranking up the volume on the boom boxes, with everyone taking turns playing their favorites. Well one night one of the guys was playing Another One Bites the Dust and the brothers working there all were surprised we were into the funkiness of it (as compared to the blues guitar rock or pop that we'd usually play) and wouldn't believe us when we said they were a white group from Britain until one us brought the album in the next night to prove it.

Shon, i think the sound you like is a reversed piano chord, or something like that. If not a piano then something else reversed. Then i believe they combine with guitar chord reveresed to.

🇬🇧 I loved Queen & especially Freddie (RIP Freddie, you are still missed and still loved).
When my dad died in 2017 we (his 4 kids) really wanted to play "Another One Bites The Dust" at his funeral. My dad had a wicked sense of humour, and we all knew he'd think it funny. But a week after he passed, his best friend's wife passed too, and he would be at my dads funeral. So we thought it would be inappropriate to play it. Wudda been funny though (depending on your sense of humour of course!).

You should listen to Queen: The Show Must Go On, it was Freddie's last song, and there is something truly profound about it.

I think that this is great that you are doing this because it will help out with the stories of how if you open one of them that bad things are going to happen to you no matter what and things are going to attack you in your sleep and take your breath away so you can not breathe and all kinds of crazy stuff that they say on social media about them. If you are careful with how you approach it and you are protected against all that is evil then you are perfectly fine with doing this..I have opened 7 of them that I have purchased and 5 from the dark web and 2 of them from someone else that I know that is really into this piticuluar type stuff and they have these things all the time and if they don't they can get it in no time.
