Apparently in New York clubs where they played this they all thought Queen were Afro American New Yorkers not some English dudes and the chap from Zanzibar Freddie.... Queen are one of those bands that go from R&B, Operatic, concert hall to pop to whatever with ease........ Song remind me of cocaine scene and gun violence and playing space invaders ! So many of the greatest groups do a few great songs in different genres since The Beatles really.. They were lucky enough to grow up with TV, no National Service, concert hall, all the Blues records at Liverpool docks and Elvis and Chuck Berry , Little Richard, Howlin' Wolf, Buddy Holly and all. Queen had this and The Beatles and opera and hard rock ...... Great song...... I was kind of shocked with Spotify in 2022.... Queen and Pink Floyd were two of the top played acts!! That alone shows that these groups are music set to last and stay. I agree with so many comments from these two and about Queen being like entertainers... its true... Can't believe I am clicking so many of these on this channel... on a Sunday evening.. Just felt like a quiet night in : ))

Which is why I use 10” subs for the additional “punch” to bass drum sound. Punchy bass is the higher end of bass octaves, roughly 40-88hertz. All the frequencies below 40 are “boomy” sounds of bass. Frequency is so imperative to accurate bass reproduction. You can actually design your stereo to optimally play a certain band’s unique sound. I designed mine for the hardest band to reproduce accurately, Tool💯. They have more polyrhythms than any band and it is laughable how far they own prog metal🔥

The instrument was not really the bass drum, just one part, mostly it was the bass guitar. Rarely is the bass guitar allowed to the front of a song. Most of the time it remains in the background like the glue that holds the song together, not so noted in its presence, but surely noted in its absence.

If you ever get to the point that a Queen song does not sound different from the Queen music that you have already heard, you have probably listened to almost all of their music (OK slight exaggeration there, but only slight).
Having said that, this song was so different from anything Queen had done before, that the band argued over whether it should even be on the album, but a certain Queen fan on hearing it, told the band it should be released as a single, because it would be a hit.
That fan was Michael Jackson and in the US, the single was #1 in the 'Billboard Hot 100' and 'Cash Box' charts and #2 in Billboard's Disco and Soul charts, and in the top 10 of all but 4 of the worlds popular music charts, and to date is the best selling Queen single.

I could hear it as a song for dancing but had no idea it would become as big as it did. The song got picked up off our album and some of the black radio stations in the US started playing it, which we've never had before. Michael Jackson actually suggested we release it as a single. He was a fan of ours and used to come to our shows." -John Deacon

The sound effects were likely made by Brian May's 'red special' guitar that he and his father made from wood found around the house. The guitar neck was made from a fireplace mantel. The reason the guitar could make so many sounds is that John Deacon, the bass player has a top electronics degree and rebuilt Brian's amp with scavenged parts. Brian returned to University to study physics and is an astrophysicist. Roger Taylor, the drummer, has a degree in biology. Freddie had a degree in graphic arts with an emphasis in fashion. He designed many of his stage costumes and also the Queen logo that you'll see at the beginning of all of Queen's official videos.

consisted of Deacon playing almost all instruments: bass guitar, piano, electric guitar, and handclaps. Roger Taylor added a drum loop and Brian May contributed noises with his guitar and an Eventide Harmonizer.
written by john for their 1980 album the game
no 1 US did well on most of the us charts
john had the basic, freddie really liked it so helped him with it and supported him to get it on the album
despite freddie supporting it and michael jackson! saying it should b e a single the other two who didnt like it were still reluctant
brian said radios started playing it a lot so they felt forced to release it!

The flamboyant Freddie Mercury got all of the press but I think the most interesting member of Queen is Dr. Brian May, CBE, the lead guitarist. Dr. May holds a PhD in astrophysics, is a member of several premier scientific organizations, has coauthored at least two books on astrophysics, has worked with NASA, and has an asteroid named after him. In addition to his obvious guitar skills, he is an accomplished pianist and singer and he also plays the synthesizer. Privately, he is an animal rights activist. A diverse and fascinating man!

Facts about “Another One Bites the Dust” This song was written by John Deacon. The bass line was inspired by the classic 1979 “Good Times” by the R&B band Chic. That is why it has such a familiar funk beat to it.

  • @LinkRocks
    @LinkRocks 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

The bassist and writer of this song, John Deacon, got inspired by Bernard Edwards' bass line on "Good Times". The thumping sound is the drums, but they're muffled and on a loop to produce that sound. The "guitar solo" is synths, which is the first time Queen used them on an album.

This track is often used in conjunction with battle scenarios, as the colloquial term ‘biting the dust’ refers to a person dying, on top of the overall hard sound of the song. However, it seems that this tune is actually just as much, if not more about a tumultuous romance than it is physical violence or death.
The track begins with the scenario of a guy walking down the street, on his way to a gunfight. This section was actually inspired by real-life, historical gangsters. In fact the term ‘bite to dust’ is said to have been specifically linked to the infamous Chicago mobsters during the Prohibition period of American history.
However, in the second verse, the subject of the song switches to that of a romantic relationship. Here we find Queen frontman Freddie Mercury stating that his partner has deserted him and in the process left him with nothing. And he sarcastically asks this person if they have actually found contentment in doing so. So in this section of the song, the singer seems to use ‘biting the dust’ as a reference to yet another lover.
The content of the final verse can be applied to the situation presented in the first verse or that of the second.
In this section, the band is basically exclaiming that no matter what opposition comes their way, they are prepared for it. They are going to stand strong throughout the whole confrontation!

    In the late 70’s, several huge rock bands did songs that are really disco (my favorite) at heart; this is one of them!❤️❤️❤️ Other examples are Rod Stewart “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” and The Rolling Stones “Miss You” (Mick Jagger was spending A LOT of time at Studio 54 at the time).     Lyrics;
    Let's go!
Steve walks warily down the street
With his brim pulled way down low
Ain't no sound but the sound of his feet
    Machine guns ready to go
Are you ready hey are you ready for this?
Are you hanging on the edge of your seat?
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
To the sound of the beat yeah
    Another one bites the dust
    Another one bites the dust
And another one gone and another one gone
    Another one bites the dust
Hey I'm gonna get you too
    Another one bites the dust
How do you think I'm going to get along
    Without you when you're gone
You took me for everything that I had
And kicked me out on my own
Are you happy are you satisfied?
How long can you stand the heat
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
To the sound of the beat look out
    Another one bites the dust
    Another one bites the dust
And another one gone and another one gone
    Another one bites the dust
Hey I'm gonna get you too
    Another one bites the dust
    Hey
Oh take it - Bite the dust bite the dust
Hey Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust ow
Another one bites the dust he he
Another one bites the dust haaaa
    Ooh shoot out
There are plenty of ways that you can hurt a man
And bring him to the ground
    You can beat him
    You can cheat him
You can treat him bad and leave him
    When he's down
But I'm ready yes I'm ready for you
I'm standing on my own two feet
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
Repeating to the sound of the beat
    Another one bites the dust
    Another one bites the dust
And another one gone and another one gone
Another one bites the dust yeah
Hey I'm gonna get you too
    Another one bites the dust
    Shoot out
