I lived in North Wembley at the time of the concert - which is 2 miles from the stadium. We could just about here some of it - but when Queen came on we could hear all of it and the roar afterwards was incredible - even from that distance, I'll never forget it.
Freddie sounded this amazing in spite of the fact that he had laryngitis the week before this concert. His doctor recommended that he cancel his appearance but he went on and made rock history. You don't have to block your screens for Queen reactions, they're happy to have their videos watched and shared. The crowd reaction was even more impressive because it was not a "Queen crowd", Queen wasn't even listed in the advertising for the concert because they didn't commit until after the ads were printed. They had to do abbreviated version of Bo Rhap and We Will Rock You because each group had exactly 20 minutes for their set and Queen wanted to include as many of their most popular songs as possible. Wembley had seating for 72,000 for sporting events, so this concert had that plus all of the people on the playing field.

Queen love their fans, then and now. Thats why they don't block reactors videos. They wrote songs their audience could interact with like We are they champions. Queen was a family that considered us part of it. Freddie told us he loved us all the time. I believed he meant it. This concert lasted 16 hrs. There was something like 70 acts and seen by billions of people all over the world live. If you weren't there you were watching on your tv. No one who preformed was paid. They did it to save people who were staving to dearh.
Every time I see this, I am just blown away. Queen wasn’t even on the billing when the people were buying tickets. Imagine showing up sick and putting on a show like that, fully engaging with 72,000 people and rocking out! Now imagine being the next guy in line to go on stage….
Fun fact… Phil Colins played both at Wembly in London and at the JFK Stadium in New York using the Concorde ✈️ to fly from London to New York in under 3 hours. He was the only artist to play both venues on a live worldwide 🌎 concert. 🎉
I was in the crowd that day - I'd just finished University (Yes I'm old... 60) and was waiting my BSc. results. Went with two friends, and we didn't know Queen were on the bill when we got our tickets. It's true what people say, that Queen stole the show. This was the 3rd time I saw Queen live (out of 6 total)... and I remember when they finished, that all around us people who'd not seen Queen live were almost in shock... ("How the 'F' does anybody follow THAT!") It was a steaming hot day... got a pretty bad sunburn, but well worth it. On a hi-res video it's possible to pick me out in the crowd - During 'Crazy Little Thing..', right after "Ready Freddie" the camera goes to the crowd... There's a girl on her b/f's shoulders, I'm a little behind her to the right as we see her - I'm the one in sunglasses, right behind the guy waving the white t-shirt.
Its just a 20 minute set and not a Queen concert, so the crowd wasn't necessarily Queen fans, it was part of a much larger event for the Famine in Africa. Roger wrote Radio Ga Ga, Dr Sir Brian May Hammer To Fall and We Will Rock You, Fred Bo Rap, Crazy Little Thing Called Love and We Are The Champions, none of John songs in this set, and both Freddie and Sir Brian are back later around 9.30pm with a song they wrote Is This The World We Created. All four wrote the songs and the mic was a happy accident, the mic stand broke and he was left with just the top half, instead of asking for another he just carried on and the rest is history
I believe that the mic stand breaking was a happy accident from a much earlier concert and Freddie decided he liked the extra mobility it gave him over a conventional mic stand and liked. it as a prop instead of just a mic on a cable or wireless (not sure if they had wireless mics yet), so he kept it and it became one of his trademarks.
SHON, FYI:Crazy little thing called love was written in 1979 in the bath in under 10 minutes by Freddie Mercury. Freddie sang it in a rockabilly way as a tribute to Elvis!!!!!

My favorite piece of trivia about this concert: If you watch the audience clapping during Radio Gaga, you'll notice a ripple that starts at the stage, then fans out to the back of the stadium. Some experts studied that ripple and timed it. You are literally witnessing the speed of sound happening in the crowd.

Thank-you for reacting to their entire performance. As I’m sure others have said.. Queen were one of many, many performers for this Live Aide Concert to raise $$ for African famine. It was viewed world wide with estimated over a billion people watching, and there were 70,000+ at the venue too. Queen had not performed together live for a minute, and weren’t sure how they would be accepted bc they were a late add to the program - so those attending didn’t necessarily know that Queen would even be performing. Each band were given 20 minutes, and it was as strict time bc they had so many performers. Queen built their set using their most popular songs.. but they cut them down to get as many as possible into the 20 min set. They didn’t disappoint.. they were on 🔥 that day.. Freddie played the crowd, and the band played flawlessly!! I’ve seen this performance many, many times… it NEVER gets old! Great reaction, thank you! Actually Freddie was told before this performance by his doctor that he shouldn’t do it because he had a throat infection at the time! But he spent time preparing his voice so he could still do this!

This was Live Aid, a huge concert at Wembley England. ALL the popular bands at the time played this concert. They were a last minute addition. They absolutely STOLE the show! None of the other artists wanted to follow them.😆 Best live performance ever!

Early songs from Live at the Rainbow 1974 and Live at the Odeon Hammersmith 1975 are excellent. LIAR, STONE COLD CRAZY, IN THE LAP OF THE GODS REVISITED, SEVEN SEAS OF RHYE. and from 1975 WHITE QUEEN is a must see Live. I'm an old white dude of 63 and I was lucky enough to have seen them at the LA Forum in the early 80s. I subbed b/c I enjoyed seeing a rapper looking dude like you enjoying the old school music. May I also suggest you chk out Mr Cab Calloway and the Nicholas brothers and the Brian Setzer Orchestra is a true time warp into another generation in such a good way. The Christmas concert was so amazing and I saw it twice at the Greek.... It was just better than sex...
The stadium holds 80,000 people and the concerts.... actually dual concerts as they were also airing one in the US at the same time, went out over satellite and over a billion people watched it live. They raised a whole lotta money for Live Aid.
Remember this was all LIVE……LIVE!!!!!!!!! No auto tune or none of that ever. This is pure 100% talent. The only band I ever heard that was actually better live than in the studio. Everybody got 20 minutes to deliver their best & even the other acts watched in awe declaring that Queen totally stole the show. Pure magic. 🖤🎶🖤

This is considered one of, if not THE best live performances ever. Each artist/band at Live Aid had 20 minutes - Queen practiced and polished those 20 minutes until they gleamed. It was timed to the SECOND - the warning lights at the front of the stage turn from yellow to red just after the last note is struck. 14:00 This song is "The Hammer Will Fall"

Of all the bands I’ll never get to see, queen is in my top 3. This has got to be in the top 3 rock performances. Freddy was the master of stage presence. Queen’s philosophy was to make music that the crowd felt like they were a part of. Must have been a blast to see.

Personally I feel that Brian May doesn’t get enough credit for how talented of a guitarist he is. Queen with FREDDIE is always the bests, I’m not a big fan(or really even a fan at all) when it comes their partnership with to Adam Lambert. NO ONE can replace Freddie! Queen was their own genre, they were very much before their time. R.I.P. Freddie we miss you!
Look...Adam never pretended to be Freddie. The band needed a front man in order to continue the magic. Adam knew he would take criticism but did it anyway. He was outrageous himself in presentation. Most of the audience wasn’t Queen fans, Queen wasn’t even listed in the ads because they confirmed late. They had a tally hit a slump right before this and they came out at this charity concert and killed it. Most of the other groups took their 20 minutes and sang 4 or 5 songs but up until Queen took the stage many of them just dialed it in. The other groups felt Queen had showed them up by treating their 20 minutes like a full concert instead a little sample.
Thx for doing the full Queen set. (The video appears backward for some reason...). Great sampler, done in keeping with the global juke box idea envisioned by the concert creators. RADIO GAGA is the song you are diggin' with the electronic vibe. And yep, that's where Lady GaGa picked up her name. So these are big songs that get a lot of play...but oh the gems you will discover for the first time are waiting for their chance!

Freddie still did a world tour ending in England in 1986. That was his last live performance with Queen. He spent time with the band recording loads of music. He did a solo album, he performed with Montsy and carried on recording songs up till his death in November 1991. He is a Legend and the GOAT. There will never be another Freddie, no one will ever come close🫶

Can't believe I had already been out of high school for 6 years! Wishing I could have been at this concert 😫 Instead I was watching on TV. Queen wasn't just singing, they were performers, entertained. They made you feel as if you were part of the show! Damn I miss the music! The fact that Freddie Mercury could put in such an amazing show whilst being in such severe pain due to his Aids illness is almost supernatural. That he did this while knowing he did not have long left is just amazing.
I graduated HS in 1985. This is an amazing event. Over 1.8 BILLION people, like me, watched it live on TV. This was a Master Class of “what to do” if you have 20 minutes to show off your talent: Queen owned this event.
From a fan since 1974. Early Queen I suggest Liar from a live concert, older Queen, now I'm here from Saturday concert at Wembley London 1986, this was the last year they toured. Freddie was diagnosed with Aids in 87. He was then too weak to tour but wrote and did studio videos until months before his death in 91. Now I'm here will blow 💥 your mind. I was there that day, long and hot but Queen rocked our socks off for 20 minutes! Just my opinion, but I suggest - Early Queen: White Queen live Later Queen: One Vision, Innuendo Freddie solo: In My Defence
The audience was so hype because this concert took place in wembley stadium in london, so it was basically a home town concert. The hometown fans had sold out the stadium within a matter of minutes with queen being the headliner. But freddy mercury was still struggling to get over a bout of laryngitis with the concert approaching and all the reports were that he wouldn't be ready and queen were going to be scratched from the lineup. And the guy on lead guitar is brian may. Widely regarded as one of the top handful of rock guitarists of all time. Brian may and roger taylor (the drummer) were also very good vocalists in their own right that both sang lead vocals and contributed significantly to almost all of queens songs with complimentary and/or backup vocals.
One thing to keep in mind about this concert, it WAS NOT a queen concert. So the audience isn’t loaded with JUST Queen fans. This was one of the biggest concerts since Woodstock. There were a bunch of bands there, it was around a 16 hour concert….. in 2 separate countries simultaneously! But that whole place knew the song….. THAT is impressive as hell.

That was the old Wembley Stadium in London with approximately 72,000 people attending, it has since been torn down and replaced by the new Wembley Stadium.

Its just a 20 minute set and not a Queen concert, so the crowd wasn't necessarily Queen fans, it was part of a much larger event for the Famine in Africa. Roger wrote Radio Ga Ga, Dr Sir Brian May Hammer To Fall and We Will Rock You, Fred Bo Rap, Crazy Little Thing Called Love and We Are The Champions, none of John songs in this set, and both Freddie and Sir Brian are back later around 9.30pm with a song they wrote Is This The World We Created. All four wrote the songs and the mic was a happy accident, the mic stand broke and he was left with just the top half, instead of asking for another he just carried on and the rest is history

I believe that the mic stand breaking was a happy accident from a much earlier concert and Freddie decided he liked the extra mobility it gave him over a conventional mic stand and liked. it as a prop instead of just a mic on a cable or wireless (not sure if they had wireless mics yet), so he kept it and it became one of his trademarks.

My favorite piece of trivia about this concert: If you watch the audience clapping during Radio Gaga, you'll notice a ripple that starts at the stage, then fans out to the back of the stadium. Some experts studied that ripple and timed it. You are literally witnessing the speed of sound happening in the crowd.

Thank-you for reacting to their entire performance. As I’m sure others have said.. Queen were one of many, many performers for this Live Aide Concert to raise $$ for African famine. It was viewed world wide with estimated over a billion people watching, and there were 70,000+ at the venue too. Queen had not performed together live for a minute, and weren’t sure how they would be accepted bc they were a late add to the program - so those attending didn’t necessarily know that Queen would even be performing. Each band were given 20 minutes, and it was as strict time bc they had so many performers. Queen built their set using their most popular songs.. but they cut them down to get as many as possible into the 20 min set. They didn’t disappoint.. they were on 🔥 that day.. Freddie played the crowd, and the band played flawlessly!! I’ve seen this performance many, many times… it NEVER gets old! Great reaction, thank you! Side Note: the 2nd song, Radio GaGa is where Lady Gaga got her name (she loves Queen); it was written by the drummer, Roger Taylor.

Actually Freddie was told before this performance by his doctor that he shouldn’t do it because he had a throat infection at the time! But he spent time preparing his voice so he could still do this!

I have loved this band forever now; I was blessed to see them when they were on their " A Night at the Opera" tour and have loved them ever since. To have four musicians of their caliber together is and was something very special. Enjoy the ride

This was Live Aid, a huge concert at Wembley England. ALL the popular bands at the time played this concert. They were a last minute addition. They absolutely STOLE the show! None of the other artists wanted to follow them.😆 Best live performance ever!

Early songs from Live at the Rainbow 1974 and Live at the Odeon Hammersmith 1975 are excellent. LIAR, STONE COLD CRAZY, IN THE LAP OF THE GODS REVISITED, SEVEN SEAS OF RHYE. and from 1975 WHITE QUEEN is a must see Live. It is an impressive performance. 1976 Live at Hyde Park, YOU TAKE MY BREATH AWAY is just Freddie and his piano and presented before it was recorded. I think you will enjoy all of them. I'm an old white dude of 63 and I was lucky enough to have seen them at the LA Forum in the early 80s. I subbed b/c I enjoyed seeing a rapper looking dude like you enjoying the old school music. May I also suggest you chk out Mr Cab Calloway and the Nicholas brothers and the Brian Setzer Orchestra is a true time warp into another generation in such a good way. The Christmas concert was so amazing and I saw it twice at the Greek.... It was just better than sex...

The stadium holds 80,000 people and the concerts.... actually dual concerts as they were also airing one in the US at the same time, went out over satellite and over a billion people watched it live. They raised a whole lotta money for Live Aid.

This is considered one of, if not THE best live performances ever. Each artist/band at Live Aid had 20 minutes - Queen practiced and polished those 20 minutes until they gleamed. It was timed to the SECOND - the warning lights at the front of the stage turn from yellow to red just after the last note is struck.

Of all the bands I’ll never get to see, queen is in my top 3. This has got to be in the top 3 rock performances. Freddy was the master of stage presence. Queen’s philosophy was to make music that the crowd felt like they were a part of. Must have been a blast to see.

Personally I feel that Brian May doesn’t get enough credit for how talented of a guitarist he is. Queen with FREDDIE is always the bests, I’m not a big fan(or really even a fan at all) when it comes their partnership with to Adam Lambert. NO ONE can replace Freddie! Queen was their own genre, they were very much before their time. R.I.P. Freddie we miss you!
Look...Adam never pretended to be Freddie. The band needed a front man in order to continue the magic. Adam knew he would take criticism but did it anyway. He was outrageous himself in presentation. Queen picked him because he was THE ONLY VOCALIST whi might come close to Freddie. Give him SOME props.

Most of the audience wasn’t Queen fans, Queen wasn’t even listed in the ads because they confirmed late. They had a tally hit a slump right before this and they came out at this charity concert and killed it. Most of the other groups took their 20 minutes and sang 4 or 5 songs but up until Queen took the stage many of them just dialed it in. The other groups felt Queen had showed them up by treating their 20 minutes like a full concert instead a little sample.

Thx for doing the full Queen set. (The video appears backward for some reason...). Great sampler, done in keeping with the global juke box idea envisioned by the concert creators. RADIO GAGA is the song you are diggin' with the electronic vibe. And yep, that's where Lady GaGa picked up her name. So these are big songs that get a lot of play...but oh the gems you will discover for the first time are waiting for their chance!
You mentioned hearing Queen songs in movies, their song Can’t Stop Me Now is in the first Shazam movie, released in 2019.it fit perfectly!!!

Freddie still did a world tour ending in England in 1986. That was his last live performance with Queen. He spent time with the band recording loads of music. He did a solo album, he performed with Montsy and carried on recording songs up till his death in November 1991. He is a Legend and the GOAT. There will never be another Freddie, no one will ever come close🫶

Can't believe I had already been out of high school for 6 years! Wishing I could have been at this concert 😫 Instead I was watching on TV. Queen wasn't just singing, they were performers, entertained. They made you feel as if you were part of the show! Damn I miss the music! Wish you could have been @ concert back then whole different experience than today's.
The fact that Freddie Mercury could put in such an amazing show whilst being in such severe pain due to his Aids illness is almost supernatural.
That he did this while knowing he did not have long left is just amazing.
I graduated HS in 1985. This is an amazing event. Over 1.8 BILLION people, like me, watched it live on TV.

From a fan since 1974. Early Queen I suggest Liar from a live concert, older Queen, now I'm here from Saturday concert at Wembley London 1986, this was the last year they toured. Freddie was diagnosed with Aids in 87. He was then too weak to tour but wrote and did studio videos until months before his death in 91. Now I'm here will blow 💥 your mind. I never got to watch the live and on t v in 85 as mumy son decided to be born 11 weeks early .Love your reactions keep going. Love and blessings from England.

I watched this live on TV 📺 and it was amazing, Queen stole the show. 🎉
Freddie did not care about great; he was just being himself.
The audience was so hype because this concert took place in wembley stadium in london, so it was basically a home town concert. The hometown fans had sold out the stadium within a matter of minutes with queen being the headliner. But freddy mercury was still struggling to get over a bout of laryngitis with the concert approaching and all the reports were that he wouldn't be ready and queen were going to be scratched from the lineup.
And the guy on lead guitar is brian may. Widely regarded as one of the top handful of rock guitarists of all time. Brian may and roger taylor (the drummer) were also very good vocalists in their own right that both sang lead vocals and contributed significantly to almost all of queens songs with complimentary and/or backup vocals.
One thing to keep in mind about this concert, it WAS NOT a queen concert. So the audience isn’t loaded with JUST Queen fans. This was one of the biggest concerts since Woodstock. There were a bunch of bands there, it was around a 16 hour concert….. in 2 separate countries simultaneously! But that whole place knew the song….. THAT is impressive as hell.
Finding Queen songs familiar is one of the most common reactions to Queen's big hits as you said their music is often used in TV and movies (indeed they wrote all but one song for the soundtrack of the 1980 movie "Flash Gordon", the only one not written by them was the wedding march, but Sir Brian May (guitar) arranged it for their instruments. They also wrote a large number of the music tracks specifically for the 1986 movie "Highlander", included one of Roger Taylor's (Drums) already existing songs, and performed one other)
As for early Queen music, from their first album "Queen" I quite like "Keep Yourself alive", "Liar" and their first real hit "Seven Seas Of Rye"
From the second album "Queen II" I would choose "White Queen (As It Began)", "The March of the Black Queen" and the slightly weird "The Fairy Fellers Master-Stroke" (to be listened to with a picture of the Painting of the same name by Richard Dadd to hand, it is after all Rock Music as art appreciation)
I can't pick only three from the Third album "Sheer Heart Attack" so I'll include "Brighton Rock", "Killer Queen", "Stone Cold Crazy", Bring Back That Leroy Brown" and "She Makes Me (Stormtrooper In Stilettos)"
There is one other that belongs to the third album "Flick Of The Wrist" but it should be paired with "Death On Two Legs (Dedicated to ...)" from the fourth album "A Night At The Opera".
