  • University of Toronto Scarborough aka UTSC, is a satellite campus located in the East end of Toronto.
    Though smaller in size than the St. George campus, it is believed that the competitive nature and mental health issues still live strong within its halls.
    Since YOU asked for it, we brought it...3 of 3 Baby, lets find out how the student population enjoy this academic environment.

    the girl in 9:12 could still go into nursing. After graduation if she's not able to get into the nursing program, she could do an accelerated program to get a BSN/RN, it take about a year and a half. Since she has taken biology classes, it will take her a shorter amount of time, like a year.

      @@panizsalehi1968 Hey! I found it a little rough adjusting to university in general and the transition from highschool. As a result I absolutely hated first year. ( I personally had high expectations and noticed I was being too hard on myself :/) After a while I grew to love and appreciate the unique campus. I attend classes at UTSC but spend a lot of time at the downtown campus doing research and hanging out with friends. It turned out to be the best of both worlds lol.
      Regarding Neuroscience, I actually am still in first year technically (due to summer school,) so I haven't gone through the difficult courses yet. I would say I find it fun because I love a challenge. It is hard to achieve a high GPA at UTSC and UofT in general because you are competing with the best scholars, however, as time goes on you learn what works for you and it works out.
      I plan to go into medicine afterwards. I'm super random also, so I'll see what opportunities pop up lol.
      Let me know if you want to chat some more!

    • @amr.a4028
      @amr.a4028 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@abigailralph885 Hey Abigail! If you're planning on pursuing medicine, shouldnt you consider doing co-op for your second year? Getting into med school is hard (7% average acceptance rate for most medical schools), and having a co-op in your resume can distinguish you from other applicants. Some applicants have applied with a 4.0 gpa but still get rejected. Medical schools thus look for things beyond just grades and GPA, and co-op seems like a good way to make yourself unique. What do you think? Thanks

    Wow! This video covered the top 2 issues I have with as a recently attended UTSC graduate.
    1st is not knowing what I am getting myself into career wise because its liberal arts education vs vocational, professional, technical (I took management coop for the 'vocational' track but that did not work out as I suffered 9-5 working hours boredom/restlessness on my first coop and was fired 3 months in to an 8 month work term thus losing out on coop and grinding out the rest of my degree)
    My GPA is too low along with my lack of other attributes necessary for securing higher level professional studies. For a more vocational program of study (just like the girl's example of Nursing, I should have went to Computer Science) I would have made POST if I put my butt in my seat, I'd be in a better spot salary wise right now.
    2nd is being lonely without friends, saying hi and meeting after class is something I miss out on early with my peers and before you know it they are not interested in engaged talking outside of class (except for a few friends)

    Who cares if you went to St.George, UTSC or UTM. At the end of the day, the degree says "UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO." It doesn't mention what campus you attended.
    I find it funny how UTSC students and UTM students wear sweatshirts and t-shirts that say "UofT" instead of UTSC or UTM, in hopes people passing by assume they go to St.George. I know I have. Yeah, I wanted to feel special. I also see a lot of students carrying the "UofT" shopping bags....3 months after a term has started because they are too cheap to buy a sweater or shirt or whatever, saying "UofT" on it. Cheap and low self-esteem, those were the days.
    And to this day, I still don't know how I was admitted to UTSC. Repeated Grade 12, flunked key courses in high school. Paid $500 for a course, at a place where they give A-plus grades to anyone willing to pay their fees, had my sister do take an exam for me for an online Grade 12 course and got 90's in, and cheated my butt off in Grade 12 English. Then voila, accepted to Life Science at UTSC. Half my friends did this, got into UTSC and are now either working as real estate agents or at a bank. Yeah folks, you want to be a real estate agent or a bank teller, do a Life Science degree at UTSC.
    Plus, you get interviews by fudging your resume (know an uncle who works at IBM, boom, copy and paste) and adding your friends as 'work references' and then coaching them, so when the employer calls, they know what to say. So in reality, that degree means very little.
