I go to McGill and could not agree more! Thanks for posting this. It's such an accurate representation of what McGill is REALLY like. It's so hard to find real testimonies like this online that really paint a realistic picture of McGill for you before you actually go there. Hope this helps people.
@@janhumski2352 yeah that one surprised me too. I've never heard/seen anything like that either. I know that you can have office hours to discuss your grade with a prof, but usually it's pretty hard to get them to change much. The only case i know of with someone going from a C to an A was a grading mistake that had nothing to do with negotiation. The wine thing is super unprofessional and I havn't seen anything like that either. Everything else in the video seems pretty spot on though.
Library environment is the best to do your work. McGill is incredibly hard, the students have unfailingly diligent work ethics, and it is a fantastic place to go to university. I am so beyond grateful for my experiences there! I miss McGill and Montreal all the time.

@@LittleVenator My 4th yr. son in Desautels wants to know which Profs, and what brand of wine does he need to get? In his experience, getting a prof to change a grade is near impossible.

Hello! Maybe (if you steel checking out this channel though) you can answer 1-2 of my questions, I would be extremely grateful. I am an international student and I have just applied for the undergraduate program in Mcgill. If I can contact you just for a couple of questions, it would be very helpful . Thank you!
I never heard of bribes or changing a grade without a valid reason .. I think in Science faculty, freshman year is the easiest and the one you will enjoy the most. It will only get harder after as the content becomes harder. Also for computer science degrees Mcgill is known to be theory based and that is true. They do not make group projects a big part of classes (I wrote so many proofs and so few actual code in 5 years)
My aunt went here and is now a professor, also her boyfriend taught here until recently. I’m just gonna ask them questions all the time (they don’t teach at McGill now).
Heyy I'm a international student trying to apply for fall 22 intake ... I wanna major in computer science/engineering and land a good job ! Is mc.gill really worth it ?
Science U1 will kill you no jokes, I cried so much but if you can get past that it's a little bit better.. Also if you can create study groups, by all means do it (saved my grades so many times because we would go over everything together and we all understood some things better than others so it helped explaining the concepts)
I've read that the average requirement for an undergraduate applicant is A-, and my country uses a percentage-based grading system. Does McGill convert your high school grades to the Canadian high school grading system?
Canadian high schools usually use a percentage-based grading system too. They probably have a way of converting it. There are lots of international students, especially from the United States, so they might have experience with it. Good luck with your applications!
I have a question, I am a 1st-year student here in the Philippines. Since I've discovered the "University of the People", an online class for people worldwide. I enrolled in an associate degree since they said that this online study can be taken even if I'm studying here at our country. However, I've received an email regarding the partner schools of UoPeople, and one of those is the McGill University and a chance to be admitted at this University. After watching your vlog, it concerns me that I can't do well in this university. And if given the chance to study at McGill, I think I will finish my degree here first for 4 years, and then hopefully pass the board exam, and get a 2 years work experience. So probably if I'm still alive, I'll be 26 when I continue my Computer Science associate degree there. May I ask what are your thoughts regarding my situation? It is my dream to live at canada and study there, but our situation doens't allow me. The only chance I could get is through University of the People's partnership but I need to work and save and all for every preparation. Is it still possible? Or an illusion?
