I had one for 3 years, great car overall. Economy for me averaged 31mpg. They are economic on a long motorway run if you stick to 70ish, up to 45mpg. Tyres lasted around 20k on mine, this will depends obviously on how you drive. No issues with mine did around 60k. A lite tuning box recommended, no effect to Economy but much better to drive especially in eco mode. They do really need a locking diff as you will discover when you start to push things, standard they are never dangerous, but the chassis is the weak point. This is easily fixed though. Probably the best performance car that normal people can afford
I'm looking to take it on a long run this weekend, plan getting footage on a roadtrip in it. Il see how well it does on fuel then once its getting a proper drive
Aup Gaz, thanks for the video. What year is your car? I'm sorry if you mentioned it; I may have missed it! I am looking into buying one but I want to avoid the one with the OPF. Thanks.
Useful real world review not many about breaking down the costs like you have. Watched a few vids as thinking of buying a low mileage one. Prices are dearer than expected for a 5 door decent example 25-30K and my insurance quote was 800+. One tip I found useful from another channel was there is a 12V socket under the glove box in case you wish to hard wire a dash cam in without going to the boot.
Thanks. Yea I paid between that price range for mine you can pay quite alot out for a low mileage one. Fortunately mines came with bmw dashcams (advanced car eye 2) already fitted
Drive it in eco when you just driving around slowly, no point not using eco pro if you not speeding around, iv just bought one too and I get really good mileage in eco pro, and the main reason I use it in eco-pro is because I don’t travel far to work and Car doesn’t get hot enough to start booting it around. but you getting shocking miles when you drive it as it should be driven 😂, best car ever for the money.
Yea I believe that's going to be my best option lol since I've started doing a few longer runs in it its starting to get better, hitting 21mpg at minute 😅 going on a road trip in it this weekend so will see what I can get from it
Nice car. I've had mine for 4 years and still love it. Bit of advice if that's okay? Don't run it on BP Ultimate. It is garbage. Shell VPower transforms it. Best wishes.
Thankyou and thanks for the tip. I've got a shell garage close also so il put that in it from now on, thankyou for that. Doing a roadtrip in it tomorrow so will be getting some footage on that so check it out if you have chance 😉
£255 got me the Oil change. Oil Filter and Cabin Filter plus a one time complimentary Vehicle Inspection at a main BMW Dealer. £377 for two rear PS5 Tyres. And a fortune on Fuel 😂😂😂😂
Not as bad as I first imagined for servicing etc but yea it likes to drink fuel haha as its a second car for me ive barely ran it so fuel isn't costing me too much.... yet lol
Its around 33mpg mine min with driving abit of motorway and towns. Not too concerned on long motorway runs as and when I do them as its alot better on fuel than I assumed it would be
Owned mine for 2 years. From my experience and others on tyres: the standard PSS are great on a hot day, but poor otherwise. PS5/4 have loads of grip but no feel due to soft sidewalls. PS4S very good but not available in standard sizes. Goodyear Asymmetric 6 is what I have now and has good grip and feedback, generally very well regarded on forums. Goodyear Supersports also good on a warm day but less so in normal UK weather. Cheers
32mpg for me and I use it daily. Harsh acceleration will make it drop to 4/5 mpg. Use ecopro and cruise control or speed limiter as often as you can. It'll make a huge difference and you're less likely to get a speeding ticket
Gaz - recognise where you are - local to me - look after that M140i it’s the best car I’ve ever had and I regretted changing it out for the newer M135i - it’s nowhere near as good. I’ll give you a wave if I see you about - enjoy the car!
Thanks, I adore the M140 I think its a brilliant car. Yeah I keep hearing mixed things with the new m135, just about to watch a comparison video between the two
I've had mine 10 months. Effectively the same car. I've seen over 50 mpg on a run in eco pro. The standard passive suspension is garbage. Id say its dangerous. I swopped it for a Birds B1 fast road kit. Night and day improvement. Its definitely a weapon of a thing. Brakes aren't as good as my old E39. They work but you need to push harder than you think. Overall, it's been faultless.
I couldn't agree more about the brakes I mentioned it to my other half the other day actually. Feels like you need to slam on to properly stop. I've got adjustable suspension which makes a huge difference in sports mode but yes the ride on any bumpy roads is terrible in any mode with it being stock. Got many plans for it in the future
Potentially looking at a tourer end of next year as we're on about getting a dog and obviously its not going in the m140 haha hopefully life is kind and I can keep the m140 aswel, maybe one of those or a 335d tourer. Will need to see at time
I have owened 2 m140i s in the past both where surperb and fautless .great car to drive . Tomorrow 1st of September i pick up a brand new f40 m135i yes ill miss the sound of the b58 engine but wanted the newer tech , i think as a daily driver the new m135i will still be a great driver as they have addressed some of things that made it not so great on the early models. ..after test driving one i was surprised just how good it was despite a lot of hate that the new f40 model seems to have attracted.
I really adore the M140i. As mentioned in the video I was looking at M4 competitions but apart from the extra costs it wouldn't fit in the garage and we've had alot of car theft on my street so was paranoid, the m140 fits nicely and having ghost helps me sleep haha got lots of plans with the car and will be uploading road trips in it and other things with it. Hope you enjoy your new car the f40 m135i is a great looking car
Loving it ....the interior is really nice place to be ...it certainly feels planted on the road . ..but it's to early to start hooning it as needs to be kept under 4500 rpm for 1200 miles ....but I pretty sure it's going to be a a well capable car on a twisty road and with the xdrive there less chance of going through a hedge backwards....as a daily driver it's a brilliant all rounder but of course it will never have that 6 cyl sound all though in the cabin there is some fakery with sound of the engine which sounds good to me ...that's me done with driving today ....suns out beers out 😁👍
I have heard you have to inform you insurance if you change the tyres from run flats to normal and keep it on the same rims... like the Potenzas you have for Pilot Sports. Apparently the alloys are made for run flats not for normal tyres. Their construction is different and can shatter.
@GazButler also congrats on the car mate! I've had mine for a year now, and it's still epic every time i drive it. I put Cross Climate 2 tyres on for the winter, on some after-market rims from Romac and it went through over a foot of snow with no trouble at all.... drove past everyone else.
@Mk1Male This was ATS TYRES that called me and informed me I would have to inform my insurance or i may be liable if the alloy broke and also they wanted express permission from me to change them as they wouldn't without me bring aware this was the case and i would have to take responsibility if the alloys shattered. Apparently it is to do with how the tyre and Alloy work together to absorb shock and the big difference between a run flat and standard tyre.
@@GazButler crazy just came up on my feed and knew straight away it was it! So it’s had a double resonator delete from performance m in Manchester. Hence the more aggressive exhaust note. The stock was just too quiet. Enjoy mate I still miss that cold start in the mornings
I have a 235i x drive GC. New front tyres at 8k. Average 29mpg. People must crash them a lot because it’s as expensive to insure as my M4. Not impressed TBH
Yea when I bought this I was looking at an M4 comp but it wouldn't fit in my garage so bought the M140 and the issuance was coming out slightly more on the M140, its a joke
@@GazButler TBF I had a 135i (3.0, 6cyn), it was better at putting the power down than the M4. You can only really get the most out the M4 in the summer months when the roads are warmer.

What’s your experience with Tesco momentum
Tesco Momentum. Use it in my current M140i and always used it for all previous performance cars - Golf R, Focus RS, M135i F40, Subaru's 👍
Tesco is the most stable consistent performance fuel you can get via the pump.
that colour looks amazing
