@@BrandonsCarLife I use Riken mate nothing special but the car is undriveable when the snow and ice appears, I’ve had my m140i for 5 years from new so if you need advice on anything give me a shout.

There’s 2 coolant tanks, smaller one is linked to the charge cooler. I would suggest getting the front end meshed up to protect that charge cooler from stone chips, it was a bmw design flaw and they partially fixed it with a ‘grit guard’ which worked okay but for safe measures I would mesh all 3 lower grills. New charge coolers cost 400-500 quid which wouldnt be ideal! Would also keep an eye on both coolant tanks as they can drink coolant also.. enjoy mate
I had a 3dr m140i shadow edition (with a sunroof I may add). Incredible car, extremely fast and practical. The engine and gearbox are lovely.

The save buttons save sat nav destinations and phone numbers. When changing down with the paddles if you hold the paddle it will change down 2 gears. I hammer mine, had it for 6 years but always have traction control on on public roads.
Just got a 118i shadow this weekend and it’s nothing compared to this beast, but it’s such a joy driving a RWD BMW and it never gets boring putting your foot down. Great video!

Heres a tip/unwritten rule; cop cars have the m140i’s/m135i’s so be weary if one is behind you for a long time.. enjoy the car mate. I smile every single day in mine🤛🏻

Yeah I just joined the 140 crew 2 weeks ago. She’s a beaut. Stage 2 with amc downpipe and springs. Plus wrapped in Matt silver with black wheels and the maxton splitter kit. Like green callipers. Didn’t want to spend any more on her but already falling into a list of mods I want done to include bilstein b8 dampers, under body brace, LSD. Anyone recommend any other essentials mods? Oh, I also got the firmware upgraded to NBTevo-y to give me full screen CarPlay. 2 weeks in and I’m 100% in love with her!!

i have a gpf and i have done double res delete you will find it throws a transmission fault and go into limp mode only when the car is boiling after a good ragging. a simple map can change this

My only regret with the rear tyres is that I didn't go straight to 275s. 275 is a standard size so you get more choices. 255 is also standard but it's not wide enough to get the power down at stage 2 and above.
I’m running stock tyre profile at stage 2+ but I do have handling mods and lsd & it puts the power down very well.

I was wondering who you’re insured through, I’m in market for a 240i, but insurance is a killer (reasonable for bone stock) but ridiculous even just adding a splitter kit. I currently pay 900 for a stage 2 Golf R and getting quoted 2k + for a stage 1 240 😂. Madness.

I was admiral 140 paying 700 fully comp, out the blue they said I can’t renew with them when policy ends, cheapest I could find is £1400, insurance don’t like b58s man

You don’t get torque steer in RWD mate, if it feels like torque steer it’s that you need correct steer because your back end is losing traction and your about to go sideways so your fighting to keep it straight.
Good choice if you like to drive and not be driven. It’s not a point and shoot car but also, don’t let that put you off as you learn to drive it you will eventually get confident with it but be aware of the cars limits & yours. It’s actually not as easy as people think to crash these cars unless you’re being a twat with the throttle and your steering. I’d definitely recommend suspension mods first (if you don’t have adaptive suspension) & then I’d do powerflex sub frame inserts at the back. It makes the rear feel more connected and less floaty especially at 70 plus. Then get the XHP gearbox remap stage 3. Faster shifts in sport plus & comfort it changes up faster rather than holding the gear for ages. Also gets rid of the confusion the car suffers from when approaching junctions and RABs and you want to pull away fast. GPF wise you won’t fail MOT (MOT testers don’t know these cars come with them & the software they use for MOT doesn’t tell them). It won’t run higher emissions either if you remove the GPF. Note you can gut the GPF but it sounds tiny. You need to get it fully taken out trust me sounds insane 🤪 I’m stage 2+ sunroof gang, lsd, lowering springs, powerflex sub frame inserts & sports cat honestly love it. It’s a weapon and a good cruiser too. I can’t replace it without spending 60+ grand. Join the Bmw m140 owners group on Facebook there’s a lot of good information on there.
P.s don’t rush for a LSD yet until you’re very familiar with open diff. LSD does help traction wise but it encourages you to drive harder (especially in the bends) and if you’re not familiar with counter steer RWD life it’ll catch you out as these with a LSD love to slide. Open diff was nice as it snaps on you but snaps back in (if ygm) but a lsd will go sideways quickly especially a m performance one as they’re 5050 locking
These are amazing cars but the one annoying thing i hate is the very loud tappy injectors especially when excelerating to around 2k sound like a machine gun but metal tapping quickly 😂
I’ve got mine booked in for a res delete next week. Thankfully mines non gpf. I would recommend getting the m2/m3 paddles - they feel so much nicer than standard. Also changed from super sports to PS5s and they’re insane in the wet compared to the PSS

Couldn’t agree with this more. Stage 2 M140 here with PS5’s from SS - the SS were undriveable in the wet and PS5 just as good if not better in dry
On the GPF models there’s no such thing as a double res delete…
The only have one resonator and the GPF box. So you could do a single res delete and keep the GPF box or just get rid of both (but it would need coding in). 👍

Ive got goodyear eagle asymmetric 6's on mine which id highly recommend after having a few different brands on her. Great balance between performance in wet and dry.
The supersports (goodyear or michelin) are great on a bone dry road, but overall the asymmetric 6 or the ps4's are the best bet

With a double res Delete You're fine you're pass your mot Because it doesn't affect emissions. If you want it more planted when you put the foot down get A limited slip differential Cause these car come with the open one

I had a stage 2 140i very good cars with a diff and some ps4s changes the car massively but that a45s is a league above in overall car
My 435 X Drive 630 NM torque is mad. No slip due to the diff's holding the road is insane. I am happy not to upgrade anything.
awesome car buddy. i’ve had mine a year now and absolutely love it, definitely a money pit though haha! imo just get a gpf delete and get it coded out, it’s such a restrictive thing getting rid of it releases so much sound. think about a remus/ m performance back box too.
I am debating the GPF delete. You known it to affect insurance though?
@@BrandonsCarLife bit of a grey area that. there’s a company callled modstock where they take out the internals of the gpf (basically freeing it up) and then weld it back so it looks like it was never touched. check em out 👍🏻

ive got a 68 plate m140 and with a double res delet it wont pass mot unless you know the guy but bmw dealers wont touch the car for a mot its illegal

I want one so bad but the insurance is crazy high, any tips on getting cheaper insurance? Got 3 years no claims and it’s 4.5k :/
I use Adrian flux but not really got too many tips to lower it. I’m 25 with 7 years no claims and 0 points and it was about £1,500

@@BrandonsCarLifeif you don’t have adaptive dampers, your first mod should be B8 dampers and power flex subframe inserts over LSD. Suspension is a negative on these & definitely needs sorting over LSD. Luckily I have adaptive which is better than not having it but I too also have B8s to install.
what did you prefer this or the A45 and why?
Completely different drives so if I’m honest, can’t say I prefer one or the other, however, this is certainly very fun due to RWD and makes the drive more challenging!

Stage 1 brings it to the same bhp of 420, tuning capability brings it much faster
