Arachnophobia isn't fear of spiders. It's irrational and debilitating fear of spiders. So saying she doesn't have arachnophobia, just a fear of big spiders, is totally legit. Far more so than everyone and their grandmother claiming to have every phobia under the sun just because something gives them the shivers. Like 90% of people who stream Subnautica claim to suffer from thalassophobia, and the only one I've actually seen that I think might not have been lying, had to quit the game within 20 minutes after accomplishing nothing, and never returned.
Yeah, kiwis fear is just being scared of a spider the size of a house. Cerby on the other hand actually does have arachnophobia, to the point that on our cobblemon server we installed an add on to not have the models of any spiders load in just so cerby could play comfortably
I believe it just has to be an irrational fear to be a phobia, but debilitating for that phobia to qualify as a medical condition. So being scared of regular spiders when you live in an area you know doesn't have any dangerous spiders is still a phobia, just not a severe one
