  • This is my reaction to all of the Total War Warhammer 2 Cinematic Trailers. I had thought that the previous game's trailers were already very good, but Warhammer 2's trailers bring it to the next level. I especially enjoyed the trailer for the Tomb Kings, but because I love dinosaurs, my bias is for the Lizard Men.

So the narrator in the Vampire Coast trailer is Luthor Harkon, self proclaimed Grand Admiral of the Vampire coast fleet. During his travel, he stumbled accross a lizardman artefact that shattered his personality into multiple consciousness that argue between each others and have one aspect of his personality. There's the brash Harkon, the strategist Harkon, etc. They all randomly possess his body one at a time, and can only agree on one thing : find a way to become one again. The dude is completely crazy at this point, but that's what make him fun. In the game it reflects by having different personality taking over randomly and giving different buff to his army, until he gets back together which grants him a global buff.

It should also be said that out of every faction the Skaven by far are the most technologically advanced race in almost the whole of WH-Fantasy. Only downside to their tech is that is is more likely to kill its user than it is the enemies (not counting that most Skaven casualties are from friendly fire). They got everything from Vehicles, Automatic weapons, Genesplicing, to actual Nuclear weaponry (the Doomrockets).

    • @Person01234
      @Person01234 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I'm not sure "technologically advanced" is necessarily the best way to describe it. It's more that they're willing to do crazy shit with magic rocks and their untamed chaotic power. Certainly their equipment resembles more advanced real life technology than any other race in the setting though.

    Alright here we go again.
High Elves (not humans) led by (in the base game) the twins Tyrion and Teclis are the original elves that the others come from and are super good with magic and get bonuses for being at max health.
Dark Elves Led by the Witch King Malekith (son of the first High Elf phoenix king Anerrion the Defender) and his mother Morathi, most don't worship chaos and worship cruel elf gods. They are slavers but they do because the like it and get bonuses the more they kill.
Skaven are led by Queek Headtaker and Lord Skrolk have THE LARGEST NUMBERS in game and lore, the only reason they haven't really won because they are too busy backstabbing each other.
Tomb Kings led by Settra the Imperishable, Grand hierophant khatep, High Queen Khalida, and Arkhan the Black are independent undead constructs that got forced into undead form.
Lizardmen Led by Lord Mazdamundi and Kro'kgarr are the first creations of the Old Ones and are trying to complete the Great Plan of the Old Ones (REMOVE CHAOS basically), they have a lot of monster units.
Vampire Coast lead by Luthor Harkon, Count Noctilos, Cylostra Direfan, and Arranessa Saltspite. They are an undead gunline faction (undead were notorious for shit range attacks.) and do higher damage with the first 5 or so volleys of fire.
Mortal Empires combines the first and second game maps and races. It's absolutely massive in the third game.
They have also done DLC updates for base game races to keep them up with the new kids.
    Feel free to ask questions.

On the DLCs the neat thing is that the content is ingame for you no matter what, owning a dlc only decides if you can play as the faction in the dlc yourself, so let's say you like lizardmen so much that you want the additional content you can buy their dlc, while for example skipping the skaven dlc.

So this video was out of date, Your best resource would be the video from "Your friend the skeleton" with all the trailers for game 1, 2 and 3. There's no single video that's completely up to date. The following are all the trailers that weren't included in the video you watched incase you want to find them individually.
"the Prophet and the Warlock", "the Hunter and the Beast", "the Shadow and the Blade", "the Warden and the Paunch", "the Twisted and the Twilight" and "the Slience and the Fury" Trailers.
      I should note, Skeleton's video isn't perfect either, since his upload. Multiple trailers have come out for 3, they would be;
Champions of Chaos: Vilitch, Champions of Chaos: Valkia, Immortal Empires Launch Trailer, Forge of the Chaos Dwarfs, Mirror of Madness, Harald Hammerstorm and Shadows of Change.

I love to see everyone's first reaction to the DOOMwheel and the Hellpit Abomination. They're the Elite units of 2 of the 4 "Great Clans" of Skaven society, clans Skryre and Moulder respectively. Both clans are the resident mad scientist factions of Skaven society, but they have different areas expertise. Skryre focuses on various forms of magitek such as mechanics, robotics/cybernetics, explosives, firearms, and trying to get as much explosive power out of warpstone (glowing green rocks made of pure Chaos) as they possible can in a way that would violate the Geneva convention in every regard. Moulder focuses on twisted biological research and the creation, mutation, and breeding of various monsters and new rat species that shouldn't exist they are such crimes against nature. Moulder and Skyryre both sell their inventions to other Skaven clans at a premium of warpstone, food, slaves, and other resources, which is why they are powerful enough in Skaven society to be considered "Great Clans". Skryre's most commonly sold products are weapons and their most commonly traded service is to rent out Skaven who actually know how to use those weapons relatively safely as well as loaning out their Warlock Engineers to other clans that pay well enough. Moulder's most commonly sold products that you can see in the Skaven trailer are the Rat Ogres.
The other 2 of the 4 Great Clans are Clan Pestilens and Clan Eshin. Clan Pestilens is incredibly gross because they worship the Skaven god as a bringer of disease and they specialize in developing incredibly dangerous plagues and pathogens, as well as infecting themselves with huge bundles of diseases that they survive and become stronger for, which is why every Pestilens unit you'll see, such as Plague Monks and Plague Priests, are covered head to toe in sores and lesions. They're one of the Great Clans because they fought a Skaven civil war to a draw and blackmailed their way into the Skaven ruling body with their diseases. They're simply too dangerous not to be given some form of bribe. Clan Eshin meanwhile is a clan of ninja rats. They're masters of espionage and assassination. They're also a big part of why that Skaven civil war was a draw, because they were able to assassinate key members of Pestilens. They're one of the Great Clans for the reasons of both Pestilens and the other two Great Clans combined. They are too dangerous to be snubbed, they have blackmail material on everyone, and their services are too valuable in Skaven society to not be used.
Below the Great Clans, there are a bunch of Warlord Clans, the two most prominent of which are playable in Warhammer Total War alongside the Great Clans. These two are Clan Mors and Clan Rictus. Clan Rictus is so prominent because it controls a large amount of the Skaven slave trade and has a ton of Stormvermin (Skaven elite soldiers, so about level with a human fighter but much better than your average Skaven). Meanwhile Clan Mors is prominent because of two incredible qualities that other Skaven don't understand and are scared of: they're somewhat efficient when given a task, and they're (by Skaven standards) incredibly loyal. By this, I mean that they have far less infighting than the other clans, and the Skaven of Clan Mors are much less likely to betray or usurp their superiors during a battle because if they do that and they lose, they know they'll actually be punished for it. They also actually sort of LIKE the leader of their Clan, which is unheard of among Skaven, because their leader is smart enough to give small rewards for jobs well done and does the bare minimum to treat his clan members well. They're still treated horribly by non-Skaven standards, but by Skaven standards being born a Clan Mors Clanrat is like winning the lottery.

Admittedly, the trailers don't really show that. Generally though, there's five main Chaos "cultures" (the Beastmen don't even have that and the Dragon Ogres don't care about stuff like that anymore) in WHF:
-the Norscans, a group of heavy metal viking Chaos worshippers that once lived where the Empire would be created one day. They where eventually driven off into Norsca which is right above the Old World (basically Fantasy Europe) where they still worship the Chaos Gods or their champions, sail off to raid various coasts or establish colonies or go north into the northern Chaos Wastes where the powers of the Chaos Gods grow ever stronger in hopes of gaining their favour. They often depict the Chaos Gods as animals f.e. Khorne as a hound or a wolf or Slaanesh as a snake.
-the Kurgan, another group of heavy metal barbarian Chaos worshippers from the Eastern Steppes (Fantasy Mongolia with a bit of Russia) who came from the Scythians. Unlike the Norscans they're nomads and yet are also the main supply of Chaos worshippers for the Chaos Gods armies. They also depict the Chaos Gods differently, seeing them more as an embodiment of the very world itself that keeps it going and functioning
-the Hung life even further away from the Old World and past the regions inhabited by the Kurgan. They're mostly primitive hunter-gatherer tribes that nonetheless gladly attack anyone that they see. The often tag along whoever is currently causing a mess in the name of Chaos again. They neither like pacts or promises and often lie to others when they aren't in a position to fight back just to kill them later anyway.
-the Tong are... somewhere. The canon is inconsistent about where they actually live in the north of the world. Anyway, they are in many ways like the Hung but far more brutal. Oddly enough, there's been fewer of them over the ages (despite their violent way of life) that took part in larger Chaos invasions to the point where some people even thought that their homes was destroyed until a few showed up again.
-the Dawi Zharr (meaning "Fire Dwarfs" in Khazalid), also known as Uzkul-Dhrath-Zharr in their own language, are a group of Chaos-corrupted dwarfs who live in the Dark Lands, a volcanic nightmare of a region which is filled with industrial wastes and sulfur and is between the World's Edge Mountains and the Mountains of Mourn. They are the main producers of weapons and armor for the various Chaos hordes in exchange for more slaves to fuel their industry as they are just as good at crafting as their uncorruptd kin though unlike them they happily invent new things too and they are well-known and feared for crafting magi-tech weapons infused with angry demons who are feed flesh and souls to keep them satisfied and running. They all worship a minor Chaos God known as Hashut, the Father of Darkness, a god of fire and cruelty who's main symbol are bulls and who "saved" them when the Great Catastrophe happened.

The skaven is so scary in the fantasy setting😅
They can just show up everywhere and spread their plagues its not enough that they have rat assassin's and a large empire that can reach almost everywhere called the underempire they can also use nuke using warp stones and create weapons like the ratling guns, and cannons that fire warpstone energy blast😂
Also the rats have different clans that focus on diff things like clan skrye that use warp stone to create warpstone based tech that they sell to the other clans also the vehicle that the rats use is called doom wheels but there is also a smaller ones called doom flayers both are created by the clan..
There is also the clan eshin where the rat assassin comes from and there is also clan moulder that use warpstones to create mutated creature like that giant rat monstrosity they also trade this monster with the other clan..
All in all there is 12 main skaven clans and when they meet together they have the council of the thirteen where they bicker about what they are gonna do next😮

On the dark elves: They're not *officially* slaanesh worshippers. They worship the elven pantheon but with a focus on Khaine, Lord of Murder, and Malekith (the witch king, big scary vader-suited guy) is not a fan of slaanesh, he fancies himself the true phoenix king of the elves, not some chaos puppet. However, the slaaneshi cults run deep in dark elf society and have huge sway and Morathi (Malekith's mother) basically leads the Cult of Pleasure, a whole (discretely) slaaneshi worshipping subfaction of the race. So yeah.

9:47 - that was a Hellpit Abomination, the gnarliest, most mutated monstrosity and a slap in the face to the gods themselves that the Skaven have ever created.
It’s made of stitched together Rat Ogres on the carcass of an ancient Blind Wyrm, which is a colossal Wyrm that tunnels through the earth.
It has multiple heads that are constantly biting at each other for dominance, and it so repulsive that on the tabletop it actually has a rule called “To Horrible To Die”, where if it dies you roll a dice to determine if it actually stays dead or does something else…like a swarm of rats bursting from its body for instance

The lizardmen don't reproduce normally, instead they rely on magical pools where they emerge fully grown in great numbers. There are multiple breeds of lizardmen, ranging from small skinks that spawn in great numbers, saurus warrior breeds, or the great hulking kroxigors. The slann also spawn from these pools, but it's irregular to such a degree that the ones currently alive are thousands of years old and closely guarded by their lessers.

That's a Hellpit Abomination, a chimera cyborg created in Hellpit which is a large Skaven city in Troll Country (and, in fact, is the largest populated city in the region). Clan Moulder creates them by just stitching a whole lot of creatures (and rats) together, shove an engine into it's backside and then exposing it all to a high amount of Warpstone and hope that the thing survives it so they can later sell it off. Despite having multiple heads and limbs most of them are pretty useless and it mostly kills things by just crushing them with it's sheer bulk.
    24:32
That would be a Necrofex Colossus. It's a magical construct stuffed with corpses to turn it into kind of a magnet for Shyish, the magic wind of death. This is because Shyish is naturally drawn towards places where a lot of things died or did die. It's similar to the Corpse Carts used by Necromancers but far larger and more complicated to make. They don't have to look like boats though, they can look like just about anything as long as it's a mass of bodies held together by dark magic and other materials.

    Here's a couple of info:
-the first dudes you've seen (marching in the forest and being ambushed) are high elves, Warhammer fantasy used to have three elves factions: high, sylvan and dark elves
-strangely enough... the dark elves are kinda in the right of hating the others: the three factions were once one and got divided when a massive civil war broke out after Malekith, the legit heir to the throne and now leader of the dark elves, was denied rulership
-dark elves do not venerate chaos, they venerate their own god of war and slaughter: Kaine
-lizardmen's only weakness is how horribly they are outnumbered by other races, otherwise they would easily win: their leaders, the slanns (toads floating on thrones) are, lore wise, the most powerful mages in all the setting AND BY A MILE! To them, moving planets is an easy thing
-GW decided to show how nerd they are with the lizardmen: a skink hero rides a pterosaur name Zwoop, a saurus hero named Krok'Gar rides a t-rex named Gimloq and a slann hero rides a triceratop named Zlaaq... sound familiar? No? In transformers (G1) there's a character named Wreck-Gar who turns into a motorcycle, one named Grimlock who turns into a t-rex, one names Swoop who turns into a pterosaur and one named Slug/Slag who turns into a triceratops
-skavens win by sheer number and their technology... isn't always an advantage: all their weapons are highly destructive but also immensely unstable, risking of blowing up the skavens just as much as their foes
-the giant horrid thing that the skaven use (remember the "giant mutilater rat stitched with other mutilated rats"?) is the Hell-pit Abomination and is one of their largest units. On the tabletop, had a rule that allowed it to come back after being killed... why? Well, according to the name of said rule, that thing is "too ugly to die".

    • @pile-o-nonsense3688
      @pile-o-nonsense3688 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      To correct a few things:
-I think you're confusing the Sylvaneth from Age of Sigmar with the Wood Elves from WHF.
-the Dark Elves really aren't in the right for anything. While Malekith was indeed destined to become the next Phoenix King, he actually gave up the position willingly to Bel Shanaar before he left to explore the world. By the time he came back he was not only already partially corrupted by dark magic but also had to witness the death of his friend High King Snorri Whitebeard and it only became worse to the point where he later tried to pull off a violent coup before being defeated and causing the destruction of Nagarythe in an attempt to unbind the Vortex. After that they became a society of horrific murderers and slavers that caused the War of the Beard/Vengeance by attacking dawi caravans and have done nothing but wage wars and enslave more people for the last few thousand years. The other two major groups of elves have more then enough reasons to hate THEM, as does pretty much everybody else in the world.
-the Dark Elves generally venerate the Cytharai with Khaine being one of them. That group also includes:
Addaioth - God of the All-Consuming Flame
Anath Raema - Goddess of the Savage Hunt
Atharti - Goddess of Pleasure and Seduction
      Drakira - Goddess of Retribution
      Eldrazor - God of Battle
      Ellinill - God of Disaster
Ereth Khial - Goddess of the Underworld
Estreuth - Herald of Famine and Drought
Hekarti - Goddess of Conjurations and Dark Magic
      Hukon - God of Earthquakes
      Mathlann - God of Storms
Nethu - The Gatekeeper of the Underworld
-the main weakness of the Lizardmen isn't numbers, it's the Great Plan. The Great Plan dictates EVERYTHING for them and to move away from it is seen as blasphemy. This leads to the Lizardmen doing a lot of horrific things f.e. they where one of the reasons why the Karaz Ankor fell as the Slann tried to move multiple mountains that where out-of-position according to the Great Plan. Another weakness they have is that they barely ever do anything new. Without the help of the Old Ones they've been stuck as they are for thousands of years by now. This means that they also never actually replicated any of the stuff that the Old Ones build so if they lose some artifact, they can never get it back. Also, they don't move planets, at least not until Age of Sigmar. The Slann are still the most powerful mages in the world though.
-Skaven are rather diverse when it comes to warfare. While swarm tactics are something all of them use (often with magic too), all of them also add something alongside it to make things easier f.e. Clan Eshin uses well-trained assassins to take out key targets while Clan Pestilence uses plagues to not only weaken their enemies but also to empower themselves. Others like Clan Mors rely on military discipline while others like Skyre or Moulder use technological and biological means to aid their forces. But, as you said, most of that stuff is VERY unreliable. Monsters that escape and make themselves a new home where the Skaven already life, plagues that backfire and infect the Under-Empire, machines that blow up ect.

I will come out and say that the End Times (GW's demolition of the Fantasy setting) remains GW's most egregious sin besides the cost of their products. It is a disservice to the fanbase on a level equivalent to Disney's treatment of the Star Wars license since their purchase. I'm just saying this in the event that it is brought up. Anyway, the factions are styled after their lore to some extent, so it just makes sense. High Elves are the most elite with expensive but powerful units and heroes, Dark Elves have slightly weaker units and rely on their heroes and mechanics more, Lizardmen lean heavily into their dinosaurs, Tomb Kings are very based around chariots and their higher-tier units, and the Skaven are (as you mentioned) all about swarm tactics and artillery. They're pretty intuitive and easy to understand for the most part. If you ever do pick the game up, I would recommend playing as the High Elves in order to experience the tutorial and get a decent handle on the game. I'm a filthy elf-lover myself, so I tend to play the elven factions (especially High Elves since they get all the best toys), but if I don't then I go for Dwarves (especially Belegar Ironhammer), the Empire of Man (particularly Balthasar Gelt and Markus), and the Vampire Coast (specifically Count Noctilus).

    • @austinkersey2445
      @austinkersey2445 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

I will also add that the handling of the End Times is why a lot of fans to this day still despise Age of Sigmar. I've somewhat warmed up to it, but it just feels a bit bland to me (and a lot of elements are borrowed from 40K as an appeal to that audience *gags*) so I just don't engage in it a lot. I recommend looking at Age of Sigmar, but if you ever get to wanting some Warhammer Fantasy or 40K lore then PancreasNoWork is a good source for it.

This isn't directed at you personally, but I feel I should mention this before it becomes an issue later. Also, my apologies, but this is a bit of a long one...
So. In-universe, the term 'Beastmen' generally refers to any humanoid creature with animal features; to the average Imperial citizen, Lizardmen and Ratmen(not Skaven, because the Skaven don't exist and anyone who insists that they do will have to see their local Witch-Hunter) are all just different kinds of exotic and strange Beastmen.
    This is not true.
Beastmen are, as I have mentioned previously, mutated humans and animals that have been touched by Chaos. While these mutations can take many forms, the most common and stable of these are ones that lend the appearance of goats and bulls, usually in the form of large horns, hooves, fur, thick hides, tails, and beastial heads. These are referred to as the Caprigors and Bovigors respectively, and if they possess the full range of Beastmen mutations without any additional traits like extra limbs, heads, or eyes, they are considered the ideal Beastmen known as 'Truegors'.
Outside of this category are the 'Ungors', which are Beastmen that possess some form of horns or antlers but are distinctly not caprine or bovine in form or have small, unimpressive horns. After that are the Brays, or those Beastmen that lack horns entirely, who are considered the lowest Beastmen born into a Warherd.
There are also 'Gaves', who are humans born with Beastmen mutations that the Warherds sometimes stumble across and adopt and raise, seeing them as gifts of the gods. Then there are the so-called 'Turnskins', who are humans that mutated later in life and have managed to join up with a Warherd, although they are considered below the Brays for not being born with their gifts and having grown up among humans.
The Beastmen also count the brutish Minotaurs and the Harpies among their number, as well as the tiger-headed Bengals of the lands of Ind, although the Bengals are one of those exotic forms of Beastmen that haven't really been fleshed out in lore.
The key thing to remember with all of this is that the Beastmen are referred to as the 'Children of Chaos' and all Beastmen are drawn to the worship of Chaos on what is essentially a genetic level; if a Beastman does not worship Chaos, then it isn't actually a Beastman, just some strange animal that may or may not be mutated.
This holds true for the Lizardmen, who are are creations of the Old Ones meant to help shape and cultivate the Warhammer Fantasy world and fight AGAINST Chaos, a mission they refer to as 'The Great Plan' or 'The Great Purpose'.
As an aside I should mention that the Lizardmen are not actually dinosaurs themselves, but there ARE dinosaurs that live in the jungles of Lustria that they tame and bring into battle as mounts or beasts of war.
The Skaven, for their part, do not worship Chaos or the Chaos Gods. Instead they worship their patron deity and the creator of their race, the Great Horned Rat, God of Ruin.

Also yes, what you saw was the warhammer fantasy universe's take on elves. The dark elves are worshippers of Khaine, the bloody handed god of murder, and various lesser deities known as the muses. These elves tend to be slavers, raiders, and torturers, with their entire society revolving around it. The high elves are the complete opposite. The moral "good guys" in the warhammer fantasy universe, the high elves rule from the island paradise of Ulthuan. The greatest strengths of the elves are simple: their affinity with beasts and use of copious amounts of magic.
