Does the tree of evolution poster come in hand or a digital copy?
Is there a link for USD for the shop?
Placed my order today loved the posters and the pin looked awesome can't wait til they arrive:)
If kyrem is the original dragon wouldn’t that mean that mean that it came before giratina dialga and palkia because they already knew about the trio so did kyrum come before them are there specific deity’s for each Pokémon type
I love a good Pokémon ecology theory! The idea of fairy types in Kanto being invasive species and causing local population declines of dragons is both hilarious and intriguing
To add to that, it would make sense that Fairy types aren’t as prevalent in modern day Kanto, possibly being related to the abundance of Poison types as representative of the growing pollution issue.
I wish they bring back the Sevii Islands in a future inevitable Gen 1 remake
Even though LGPE was always marketed as a Yellow remake, the fact that the Sevii Islands were excluded from them was a TRAGEDY.
Im done with Kanto tbh.
They should make them a DLC area like Kitakami one day. That would be a cool way of returning without doing Kanto again.
@garchompelago It doesn't have to be the same Kanto. It can 1'000s of years ago, Kanto and Johto was probably a single region. They do share the same legends and all.
Yes I would love to see the Sevii Islands again in the future we haven't seen the Sevii Islands since Firered/Leafgreen. They could make a new Kanto game that is set 30 years in the future after Red, Green, Blue , Yellow, Firered and Leafgreen, Lets' Go Pikachu and Eevee. It would show how much Kanto and the Sevii Islands have changed!
This was a nice theory Bird Keeper Toby a part of the moon falling down on Mt.Moon from the moon causing Dragon type Pokémon to be rare in Kanto. I also like the idea of Lance coming to Kanto to help the conservationists keep bringing back Dragon type Pokémon in Kanto.
Thanks ^_^
@@BirdKeeperToby What if in an alternate timeline, the 1st Gen games retyped existing mons before release? With the Charizard, Gyarados, Slowbro, Horsea, and Aerodactyl lines as part Dragons. And the Oddish, Venonat, Arbok, Kantonian-Cubone, and Kantonian-Vulpix lines as part Ghosts? While the Gengar line was pure Ghost Type. And if Dragonite completely resembled its pre-evolutions? And if both Types along with Bug had stronger damaging moves? What would've changed about Gen 1's gameplay and season 1 anime(including the Sabrina arc)?
Charizard, Arbok, Gyarados, Kingdra, Exeggutor and Dragonite are all Kanto Dragons through either form changes, native typing or Egg Group. So I suspect Lance has all of them in his repertoire. Aerodactyl is probably based on the fact that dinosaur skeletons are long believed to be the inspiration for tales of dragons.
Some other ones too could be like Onix, Golem or even Machop. They all have very reptilian features
And I guess pterosaur fossils used to be grouped along actual dinosaurs
Going off of this theory, I got to wondering what Dragon-type Pokemon were native to the Kanto region before the series of events that led to their decline, and extinction in some cases. So, going off of the theory presented in this video; of all the known Pokemon with the Dragon typing or Dragon elements, which ones were actually native to the ancient Kanto region? I suspect we won't know for sure which of those theorized are accurate before the Kanto region gets its own Legend Arceus treatment, but until then, it could be fun to theorize about some of that.
I like to think there are species of Pokémon that went entirely extinct. We would likely have little to no record of their existence pre-modern era.
@@hannahgambino3884 And some of those extinctions were probably too new to qualify as Classic-styled Fossil Pokemon.
3 dogs
What an amazing theory! I never thought about how there were less dragon Pokemon in Kanto from a narrative standpoint! Phenomenal job Toby! 👏🐲
Going off appearance, the Dragon Scale is either a scale from a Gyarados or a Kingdra themself, both live in the water rather than land where the Kanto fairy-types live. In reality Kingdra not being in Kanto is most likely due to wild item/trade evolutions largely not being a thing until Let's Go. While I'd say it's possible all Pokemon found in the Safari Zone only (Let's Go aside) aren't native to their region, their aquatic lifestyle in early stages suggests Dragonite may have lived at Mt Moon and Cerulean.
Seadra is a dragon since seahorses and featherfishes are "dragon fishes" in myths, same as some snails are (Goodra) or dinosaurs (Aerodactyl, Tyrantum) or dragon(!)flies like Flygon. :)
Random tangentially-related mini-theory. As you said, Mr. Mime isn’t in the wild in the aka to games, but it _is_ in Kanto for the Johto games, on Route 21. This proximity to Pallet Town makes me wonder if Red released his Mr. Mime and it started a colony there or something.
Fairy types in Kanto would only really explain Mt. Moon’s lack of Dragon-types, in my opinion. And even then, how do we explain the presence of both types in other regions like Kalos or Galar?
According to the prototype data of Gen 1 there was suppose to be another water/dragon family of three.
In reality Dragonite is the only Dragon type family because Dragon type was a very late addition to the type list during the development of the games, so it's likely they only assigned it to Dragonite so it had what they thought was a powerful and rare type. The same thing happens to Ghost type and Gengar even though Gengar was an early creation as far as the creatures go. Helix Chamber has a lot of great info on the betas and prototypes
I wonder if Toby will make a similar follow-up video for Dark and Steel types in the Kanto Region.
you can also get Dratini from the game corner, it's harder to get in gen 1, but Get 3 was easier using the VS Seeker. 2800 in FR was not that many coins.
9999 casino coins......so many hours but managed to get a lvl 5 Dratini in Red
I wish they’d update some Gen 1 and 2 typings in Gen 10:
Blastoise: Water/Steel
Arbok: Poison/Dark
Seadra: Water/Dragon
Marowak: Ground/Ghost
Hypno: Psychic/Dark
Ampharos: Electric/Dragon
Bellossom: Grass/Fairy
Suddowoodo: Rock/Fighting
scyther should be bug/dragon like it always should've been
a regional variant would be nice
@@CakeofRage I agree. It literally is a dragon-like bug. Could still become Bug/Steel or Bug/Rock when it evolves. A regional Bug/Dragon that’s its more primitive form would be cool.
I always saw Seadra as more of a Water/Poison type as even it's Pokedex talks about it's venomous fins
@@crimsonemperor2219 yeah similar to Umbreon, but we have another poison/water seahorse/weedy sea dragon that becomes a poison/dragon now. Both Horsea and SeaDRA are called the dragon Pokémon in the dex so Water/Dragon would be more than fitting and bring another dragon type into Gen 1. And since we have Fairy now, a Water/Dragon type isn’t as difficult to deal with.
no
The idea of those Fairy hunting down all the dragon is kinda funny(in a good way).. Yes we know Fairy is Dragon slayer but in ecology of pokemon world its not always type that strong against hunting its supereffective target. Because we also has Tinkaton(Fairy) hunt Corviknight(Steel) and Lurantis(Grass) hunt Bugs pokemon as it prey..
So maybe there is other culprit that hunt all the Dragon in kanto thats not a Fairy
2:30 Fun FACT, what we call Dinosaur now, the old original word is Dragon.
I think this can be expanded to explain why Nidorino and Nidorina are able to be found in the Safari Zone. They feel so out of place there, all these rare pokemon, and then these two. Two Poison types who evolve by moon stone. A protective measure put in place by the safari zone to ward off any fairy types, and to prevent any fairy types being drawn in by the allure of a potentially dropped moon stone by a random forgetful trainer.
I really think some bits of lore just shouldn’t be explored. I know it’s just a fun theory but at the end of the day the lack of dragon types in Gen 1 is why Lance doesn’t have many dragon types. Doesn’t make him any less of a Dragon Master.
wow Toby still at it. Always there when I need some Pokemon content.
> Dragon types
> Terapagos
I need the Indigo disk to come out already so it can expose this idea as Regidark 2.0,
because I am still completely baffled by it even being on the table, let alone straight up taken for granted as a side-"fact" like in this video :'D

What size is the poster?
This is amazing Toby! An excellent high quality theory!
IT'S BACK. Ordered, missed the original drop. Continue with the rest of the video.
A lot of Bird Keeper Toby videos theses days? I love it
Something to consider. Many Pokedex mention Magikarp wasn't as pathetic compare to its counterpart from the past?
What if the strong Majikarp made Gyarados a Dragon type?
But because Gyarados was already powerful, destructive and terrifying, they purpose made Majikarpv weaker by using fairy types or Mt moon
6:43 the Alolan Form on Fossil Boosters is amazing :D
I want to see in Gen 10 most Pokemon get more dual typing and make them accurate.
I believe that when resurrecting fossils, the Rock typing overlays the primary type.
Kabutops - Bug/ Water
Omastar - Dark/ Water
Aerodactyl - Dragon/ Flying
Armaldo - Water/ Bug
Cradily - Poison/ Grass
Rampardos - Fighting
Bastiodon - Rock/ Steel
Carracosta - Steel/ Water
Archeops - Normal/ Flying
Tyrantrum - Dark/ Dragon
Aurorus - Fairy/ Ice.
The only exception is Galar, which are the only ones that require two fossils. So the Fossilized Bird contains the DNA of a Pokemon that would have been Dragon/ Electric, brought back as Rock/ Electric. Whereas the Fossilized Dino would have been Water/ Ice, brought back as Rock/ Ice. But when those two fossils combine it becomes Electric/ Ice.
That's why Aerodactyl is a Dragon.
Never thought of Rampardos as a fighting type but I think its makes sense.
never thought of dragon Pokémon as an almost extinct type of Pokémon
What if prior to their extinction, Aerodactyl were dragon/flying types? They're only rocks now, because they are being restored from fossils.
I've always thought Aero was supposed to be its own separate stand alone mon similar to Lapras, and it had the Dragon/Flying typing. But was later changed to Rock/Flying in development due to game balancing and it looks out of place with the other fossils. Its near the end of the dex, its the only 3rd member in a group of fossils, it requires its own unique item to revive, it doesn't even learn any Rock type moves in Gen 1 through level up or TM but it can learn Dragon Rage, it just all seems very tacked on like it was thrown together at the last minute.
Charizard Dragon-type YES, Gyarados YES, Seadra/Horsea, yes, they are called the "Dragon-type" in the Pokédex. Areodactyl though, it would be hard to remove one of it's 2 types, do you make it Rock/Dragon, or Dragon/Flying?
Dragon/Flying, not saying its some golden rule set in stone, but fans drop the Rock typing from fossil mons when trying to figure out their true typing.
Dragonite being the only dragon able to survive the invasive species makes sense because it has access to multi scale. Making it more resilient to the fairies.
Just realized we may not get a Gen 10 tree of life 😢
This whole theory could just also work with the idea of poachers using fairy types after they showed up could've been used to kill off dragon Pokemon
Cheren created/teaches at the Blueberry Academy.
Cheren in his B2W2 outfit looks STRIKINGLY similar to the Uniform of the BBA...
Awesome theory!
Wasnt it also the case of there only being three ghost types? Are there any videos that can theorize on that topic?
the idea was that Dragon were meant to be rare and not obtained by many trainers. Obviously they didn't made Charizard part Dragon since that would unbalance the starter trio. Seadra/Gyarados could of been Water/Dragon but that typing would of been too broken in gen one. Aerodactyl was a fossil pokemon so Rock was pretty much given and Flying made sense since it is based on the Pterodactyl species. Alola Exeggutor is only in the wild in Alola for obvious reasons.
ive gotta go get the tree of evolution. ive wanted one since the original released. but i was a child back then so i couldnt afford one
Ok, we need this story in a Legends style game please!
Can't believe this guy is leaving youtube
There will be a big gap in the PokeTube community
Rose rigging the league- that's in my fanfic. Not just in Galar, either. Remember how pokemon that were asleep were unable to battle in the original anime? Leon is angry when he realizes that Ash is too strong to be a normal trainer- Peony and Mustard were right about Rose, and he shouldn't have trusted him. Now there's a 'ringer' ready to take his place.
Gen was originally supposed to have the amount range from 190 to 300 pokemon which would be the highest total
I'm 90% sure that a deoxys falling from space could knock a chunk of the moon off.
There's a Dratini in the Prize Corner in Celadon City
If a legends johto game ever happens a lot of gen 1 dragon like pokemon should get regional forms that gift them the dragon type
I like the idea of fall of the moon stone being the Pokemon equivalent of the KT event. What the NPCs describe is basically a meteor shower with radioactive space rocks. So perhaps at some point most larger Pokemon died out, leaving the smaller, aquatic, or subterranean ones behind.
The ones that survived would likely struggle to adapt as the environment changed, and their prey either becoming scarce or growing stronger due to the affects of the moon stones. Not just gaining the fairy type, think about little Nidorans becoming Nidokings and Nidoqueens.
Hey mate just had an idea. I know you said you didn't have anything for Aerodactyl but what if reviving fossils was relatively new at the time and therefore the pokemon we got were incomplete versions of their prior selves? For example we have all speculated about Kabutops being an ancestor to Scyther so maybe was originally Bug/Water. Omastar may have been an ancestor of Starmie and was originally Psychic/Water and that would leave Aerodactyl having originally been Dragon/Flying?
I want that Alolan Exeggutor shirt! 💸
Lance is a Bird Keeper
The Fire Nation fought and killed almost all the dragon Pokémon. Uncle Iroh found the last 2 Draginites and said he defeated them
This video qill be the origin of dragon tamer toby
Do you package your own stuff from your shop?
Kanto also has wild Mr. Mime in Gen II.
Maybe Dratini was the only dragon that could survive Kato region?
Lance should have been called the Dragon-Like Master. 😂
You aren't counting Kingdra...
Johto and Kanto Pokemon actually share the regions.
It's only a generational divide...
So in canon, Kingdra is in Kanto as well...
All Gen 2 Pokemon are Kanto Pokemon and Gen 1 Pokemon are Johto Pokemon...
Also, the main reason dragon types are so rare could just be because of how small Kanto and Johto even put together actually are...
Dragons probably just a rarer type in general and when the region is so small, there is just the chance that finding it is hard...
Dragon type was design only for Dragonite, costume made for them, gameplay wise they are the rarest to find and serve as a final boss so they gave them a type that resist all the starters and is only weak to ice, another rare type that probably was also added late in development.
Bug, poison, ghost, flying and a bunch of other secondary types were put there as an afterthought, I just imagine GF coming up with secondary types "wow Lizardon has wings! we should give him the bird type, but its not a bird! So change it to flying type instead!"... it probably went like that, and I'm sure it happened with the other types people complain about all the time on here.
Ghost type for example, they didn't come up with dark type or abilities yet so they gave gengar poison, which is a secondary type, so they costume made one for him so they can feel more ghost like, but you know they f*ck up halfway through and ended up a glitchy mess
Also, why would they give a starter the *special type*? Charizard wasn't getting the especial boy treatment back them!
And for anyone wondering the og types probably were Fire, Grass, Water, Electric, Fighting, Psychic and Normal. The rest are redundant and could be abilities, even today
Your theory could be a good retconned tho, lore wise, it fits, but they definitely didn't think this through
"buy my merch so i can buy a lab tocr" Toby what is a "tocr" I need to know!!!!
"BUY MY MERCH SO I CAN BUY A LAB TO CREATE REAL POKEMON" 🙌🏽🙌🏽🔥🔥
At the topic of fabulance, in the fan game pokemon feuergrün(firegreen) it's a running gag, that he is all show and compleatly useless ans it is so so funny!!!
All the merch is gonna be gone? Mugs, even?
Where is the link to the four parts of the arceus video? Its not in the description
Sorry it;s here th-cam.com/video/VKAy7EdudIU/w-d-xo.html
what if charmeleon needed that dragon scale in order for it to be a dragon just like seadra
Well the moon affects the oceans and is in the frozen expanse of space. So maybe space being cold is a different versions of ice.
Wait, parts of arceus? You need to link that video so I can see it!
It int he description now ^_^
I’ve always pondered why it was the only draconic line in Kanto. Then again, aerodactyl and gyrardos are pseudo dragons, imo
And charizard.
@@torazelynah he its a lizard
Game balancing issue that's why. U can tell by how GF always played it safe with type combos in the early gens.
Imagine a Legends Johto game in which we get to see the creation of The Lake of Rage being made by Magicarps/Gyrados's stronger ancestors that are legit dragon types
The "dragon" type in Gen 1 was more like an ability than anything; something special given to a late game Pokemon so they would be resistant to the all the STAB moves of all the Starters in exchange for not having a STAB move itself.
Why am I tearing up? This is not a sad video.
Lance; the Flying master
The fact that the creation trio exist and are dragon type I’m confused how they’re not the original dragon(s)
Hey Toby! I've been wanting to buy a tree of evolution poster but it keeps declining my card (visa, US). Is this something I'd have to contact my bank about or does it not work with US cards? Thanks!
It should just work, we have US buyers all the time, If you need help you can email Birdkeeperstore@gmail.com
@@BirdKeeperToby awesome, thank you!!
I like how dragons are treated in a similar vein to how they're viewed in our real world I mean of course in a fictional sense. The fact that not all dragons are Dragon Type Pokémon and not all Dragon Type Pokémon are dragons is really fascinating. It's clears up why Altaria a literal bird and Alolan Exeggutor a literal tree are Dragon Types whereas Charizard and Gyarados aren't.
I'm guessing this is why a natural Dragon/Fairy Pokémon has yet to exist, too, as two natural enemies wouldn't really be able to cross-breed to create a new hybrid species that has both of their typings - the only Dragon/Fairy Pokémon we know of at present is Mega Altaria, and Mega Evolution requires a strong bond between that Pokémon and its Trainer through use of a Mega Stone, which wouldn't exist among wild Pokémon because, y'know, they have no trainers.
Maybe we'll discover one in Gen 10? But that's like, five or six years away, so it'll be a while before GameFreak creates a brand new Dragon/Fairy dual type for us.
You don't think the ancient Altria were that type?
Soon BKT merch will be more rare than the dragons in the Kanto region. 😢
What is Dragon Rage the only Gen 1 Dragon-type moves?
And why does it only deliver exactly 40 damage, making it inferior to Night Shade and Seismic Toss by lvl 41?
Lance from Masters sounds like me!
I say that line for pretty much every type.
Not all Water types need to be aquatic and not all aquatic creatures have to be Water types.
Not all Steel types have literal steel in their biology, and not everything that has steel in their biology has to be a Steel type.
Etc.
Type = what a Pokémon is good at
Egg-group = what a Pokémon's biology is like
Did the tree of evelution ever have paldea added?
Yep yep :D
0:05 It's the 1st November dude, Christmas isn't until the 25th December!
There are other holidays in the emantime but yeah, November 1st, I'll be putting up my tree in like 10 days :') I'm one fo them haha
@@BirdKeeperTobyI put up my tree 3 weeks ago.
ONE OF US.
ONE OF US.
I really doubt type match ups affect Pokémon Biology outside of direct mentions, for example: Durant and Heatmor.
Fairy mons while made to counter dragon types in competitive, they don't have dex entries supporting them predation on dragons or any other for of aggression. We even have a fairy hunting a steel mon and quiet literally, thier worst match up possible.
And why focusing on Kanto? Johto has even less dragons and their Fairies are native. And Grandbull looks like an animal that could actually want to hunt something, unlike Clerairy or Jigglypuff.
Charizard dropped his dragon type because it was weak to fairy type and became full fire type to resist the fairy type.
It is November!
151 Pokémon and just THREE of them are Ghost Type
Ahhhh too early for Xmas, ❤😢
I think typing has nothing to do with the pokemons physicality. It just refers to the energy type. That why chrizard and gyrados ate both none dragon type dragons. They use flying, water, and flying energy to attack. They both use dragon attacks, but not as strong as a "true dragon". This would make more sense than dragon shaped pokemon that aren't dragons. Gurados' dex entry suggest it's a dragon and dragonite is charizards greatest natural enemy. Dragonite and charizard are a representation of the legend of two dragons fighting. That also why some ghost pokemon are actually ghosts while some are just normal with ghost abilities.
2024 isn't going to be the same, however I have faith it's gonna be far better with you getting past the burnout
0:30
Fairy type didn't exist in gen 1
FabuLance
Make Dragons Great Again 2024
I think this makes sense as well if you look at the fact that there are no dark types either and they are weak to fairy
The theory stops making sense when u look up how many poison types are in the Kanto pokedex.
Fairy type wasn't around until gen 6 so thsi theory don't make sense
It also doesn't make sense based on Toby's own logic shouldn't Fairy types be near extinction with Kanto having the most poison types of any region.
In gen 2, Lance is more of a Master of Flying-type Pokémon, since only his Dragonites are Dragons, but ALL his Pokémon are Flying.
The fairies taking out the dragons over time just sounds very cool but also crazy to think about. This little Jigglypuff taking down tons of dragons. But lore wise makes sense to justify Dragonite’s family as the only remaining dragons of kanto.
Because they ate the others 🤗
This theory is interesting.
But since Gen 1 and even the Kanto Remakes of Fire Red & Leaf Green, there isn't Fairy Typing this theory doesn't work.
If you had discussed the fact that majority of the Water Type Pokemon in Kanto/Johto can learn Ice Moves and some even have Ice Typing caused this situation then that would make a little more sense.
how dare you promote christmas stuff in november, november 1st no less. shameful
