Just discovered that his jumping down light punch attack can be canceled on hit or block into certain specials, like his teleport. 😅
I've always loved Dhalsim. I'm gonna practice more with him in SF6 than I did in other games.

Just jumping over from Tekken to see how things are over in the 2D space. Dhalsim speaks to me immediately because of that pokey safe style. Hoping to main him once I get to grips with everything. What an adjustment. Thanks for giving me an entry point that's simple to understand.

@@JAMEXXORZ Nice choices. Oh yes I was super excited about Marisa before the game came out. She definitely does seem to have a lot in common with Gigas. I'll give her a proper try at some point.
Fun character to play, though i keep getting destroyed by Juris and Jamies on ranked. I found that teleport to be overpowered against JP, he mostly stays at long range, just teleport in grab him and smack the shit out of him.

you really need to play sim on classic; you're missing so many fireballs on modern
True, I do like all the different versions he offers on classic 😅
You can still do all the fireballs and normal inputs in modern. Only thing I suggest is mapping three punches to LT so you can do teleport behind

The characters I always gravitate toward are the one’s that play the “keep away” game. I love controlling space. I’ve never been a Dhalsim player but he looks better than he’s ever been and I’ve been having fun with him.

Hello dude great video, you are one of if not the only one putting guides and combos with modern controls out there. Thank you for that. I have a quick question. I have been playing fighting games on and off for years. Always quiting because the inputs just seemed inpossible for me. Now with this game I can finally enjoy everything a fighting game has to offer, but learning about the fact that you miss a lot of moves made me kinda sad. My question being if you find it managable this way or does it truly hurt for some characters like Dhalsim. Also what is your prefferd way of playing. Sorry for the long comment 😅
Ya I play some characters on modern and some on classic, some characters (in my opinion) don’t really lose THAT Much on modern compared to classic. Some lose a lot like JP And Cammy. But all characters are great on modern. It’s all about the player behind the controller. I’d say master the character on modern and learn what your strengths and weaknesses are once mastered, even on a basic level, a player can still be devastating!

Thanks for the guide but i really do have to say, teleporting and just raw going for a grab is a bad idea that will lose you games against any remotely competent player. The recovery frames from the teleport will result in you just giving your opponent a free combo if you go for it without putting a projectile on the screen. Its almost always necessary to put a projectile on the screen before teleporting behind them, either to punish them for attempting to block the projectile or punish them for hitting you while you recover from the teleport (and they WILL hit you if they arent blocking)

the key here is to make your teleport an instant air teleport. You use upforward instead of just forward. As soon as you reappear hit LP or LK. You'll be plus when you land--it's a great tic throw. And yeah, it definitely helps to have a fireball on screen.

Maybe this was on alpha? Many of these combos did not work for me.
This was actually after the game had already released, just keep practicing, the timing can be a bit tight on most!
The jumping teleport is so hard to do consistently :/ at least on ps5
It can be rough at first but keep going and soon you’ll get the timing down and get to mastering him 😎
How do you teleport behind someone? When I teleport I hold forward and it puts me right in their face, not behind them. Great video btw!

Forward and Punches will put you behind them.
Forward and Kicks will put you in front.

In modern controls I have mapped light+medium+heavy to one button (L2 in my case) and doing forward + L2 I got to TP to behind

Uuhhh I prefer stick but that’s a big Personal preference kinda question. I try both and see how they feel to you!

@Onestep I gave sf5 a miss due to the slow imput reaction speed. But sf6 kind of made it with while learning him again, I was disappointed they removed his defensive knee but found his defensive high punch a good replacement. Cheers mate.
After 20 years of playing street fighter games I finally tried him in sf6... yeah didn't go well lol
