I have no intention of playing chun but liking and commenting for the algorithm. Good to see the full guides again, your SFV guides were how I got into the channel. Hoping for Honda and blanka guides further down the road.
A quick note on the stance. The stance itself low profiles most projectiles in the game (most as in not JP) you don't have to press MP to go under. Once you're in it, it is possible to stay in it by holding down/back. You can also still block in stance, though if you do the stance will end. The biggest use I've had for this is against projectiles when in burnout. If the opponent doesn't want to approach (maybe they're low on life) and is hoping to chip you down or beat your fireball with EX you can just opt out and sit on the floor while you wait for your meter to come back.
I liked fast characters so up to now I have tried Kimberly and then Chun, I wasn't expecting Chun-li to be this much fun to play! The fact she's technical is even an advantage if ones want to stick with the character as it is unlikely to be bored and she offers a lot to practice for. Really cool that Chun is your first sf6 char. guide choice !
I’ve never thought I’d be interested in Chun-Li but her combos are so satisfying. This vid came at a perfect time! Grinding from Iron 1 wish me luck! Subbed
@@feri7mble while situational it is usable in both games and DR in sf6 makes it more flexible but the sf5 version was easier to hit and more forgiving. Chun was never the kind of character where you use all her options all the time
this is actually the best guide on any character in ANY FIGHTING GAME I'VE EVER SEEN. you are so fucking good at it i wish everyone learnt from you. really fucking good job man.
Nice! Can't wait to watch when I get a chance. Was waiting for Chun. I know she's not the easiest, especially since I haven't played since I was a little kid. She's too fun though so I'm gonna put in the work. Comment for the algorithm
I'm a Street Fighter noob but I love Chun Li. I appreciate this video, very in-depth while still comprehensible for just about anyone. I'm sure I'll be referring back to this video regularly as I work on it.
Thank you so much for this guide! I've been slowly incorporating it into my gameplay. Been a Cammy main for a good while but was always scared to jump off the deep end and restart with Chun. Its hard but very rewarding. This guide has given me a great idea of what to be doing. Thanks!
I’m completely new to fighting games and picked Chun-Li as the character I want to learn. It’s been a difficult but rewarding week of getting good and this video was what really helped things to start clicking for me. I’ll be coming back to this for a long time I’m sure and I’m so thankful for the video. I had my first significant win streak and I couldn’t have gotten there as quickly as I did without your help. Thank you 😁✌🏻
A sequence I found that I really like thanks to this guide and another short is St. LP, F+MP xx Drive rush St. MP. There is so much that branches from this starter. If they block you can tick throw off the St. MP. On hit you can go into B+HP, H legs, level 1, or you can go B+HP xx stance LK xx EX SBK, level 2, etc. On block you can go to B+HP xx stance LK xx H Kikoken and just get a safe block string that will get a lot of your meter back. I really like that Chun's raw drive rush is such a guess. She has good conversions off any of low, overhead or cross-up, plus a solid pressure option in St. MP or throw. Great guide though, definitely picked up some more stuff to work on.
There's something very elegant about the look of Chun-Li in general, in combination with her profilic combos and distinguished moveset. Just picked her up, after Juri got me a bit bored lately. Nice guide!
Just wanted to day thank you teaching for all this time. When I first got into this series, it was with Alpha 2, 3 and 3rd Strike a couple years back. When I gave sf5 a shot, your channel was one of the first things I found. The things you taught me were really helpful not just to it but also fighting games in general and it all really opened my eyes to alot of stuff. Now here we are in sf6 and youre going ham, cant wait to see what you get up to next☺️
Thanks for the guide. I skipped SF5 and mostly just played old school games so there were a lot of old tactics that I couldnt rely on in this version. I feel more confident now that I understand her unique gameplay in 6
Sf6 is the first fighting game i wanna learn seriously, and i want to play chun li even if i she's not the easiest beginner character, i just like her playstyle and design. After a few days playing the game just messing around in practice and online i can only say that im really bad, but im having a lot of fun with the game so far😊
Fantastic guide man, I'd love to see one on Cammy. I remember in your last video you lamented that her damage was pretty low, but I'd still love to see how to play her best.
It feels like Chun had better neutral and better normals in SF5 but in SF6 her damage output and conversions is way higher, she actually has anti airs this time and she can follow her LP fireball with a driverush and go on the offense. She's no Deejay but she alright.
Neutral was definitely better in sf5 as her pokes were massive and hard to punish but sure couldn't really convert them like she can in 6. The main thing that hurts her pokes here is the existence of Di.
After the wall bounce from a Drive Impact, you can do: d.HP xx Serenity Stream -> SeSt.HP That does a reset into her overhead in Serenity Stream that is at worst -3, but grants a combo if the overhead hits.
The metrics that are used to measure drive rush distance are weird, so this might be off. I think Chun is the dr that moves the farthest during the first 11 frames before you can cancel it, but at 23 frames she's the 6th furthest (DJ is furthest here), and at max travel distance she's 9th furthest distance (Juri is furthest here).
I was maining Manon but I'm switching to Chun. You can't say she's cheap the way you can with Manon (even though I think Manon is fine I beat Manons all the time). Fantastic guide bro.
I'm new on fighting games and I liked Chun-Li, thanks for the video. I know she is hard to learn but I think it's worth it. My biggest problem right now is muscle memory, always pushing the wrong buttons.
Amazing guide, but a little correction is that all of her Hazanshu are overhead. Also the heavy version doesn't require counter, it can be combo into medium and so on. Learned so much in this guide, thank you!
Pretty sure Tensho kicks down down command is way easier than regular dp command. For DP, you had to input forward, down, down forward which is 1 more input and all are vulnerable to jump attacks. Its also auto correct since the input is down down and will hit crossup attacks if you delay it. If im not mistaken, it can be done on hitbox using SOCD cleaning without letting go of down input.
Chun Li is like an A to B tier for most people using her basics like fast walk speed and good normal pokes, but in the hands of a Chun Li specialists and pro, she could easily be S tier. She has so much damage, combo routes and mixups. Valmaster is godlike with Chun Li.
how do you do that insta fireball at 32:53 when cancelling out of serenity stance? I've tried copying your inputs exactly and i still dont understand lol. pls help. I don't really understand what you mean by cancelling there.
I still don't quite understand how you stand up so quick after going to serenity stance, if I serenity stance then back forward+punch it just does forward punch since you can't fireball from sitting down. @@MCMuraFGC
I know this is a month old, would have been great to see the input history with this video to verify what you're doing and see the damage numbers. Revisiting this, picking up Chun from Manon I think!
I'm kinda new to SF but are these guides mostly using those "fighting sticks"? I can't find to myself figure out how LP MP HP LK MK HK and others to fit on an xbox controller. Does these even works with the Modern controls? :o
love this vid....when you do the drive rush, is it necessary to project MP+MK, F, F + punch/kick and it took away 3 stocks of gauge? coz i saw you last few combos at the end of vid you did the drive rush Stand MP with double dash only and it only spent one stock of Gauge?
I remember like playing ChunLi for the "technical" part then a friend of mine who is an expert at finding lame methods till he can rely on 2 buttons made me lay off her in the SFZ, SF4 & SFV🤣
Do you have any controller to recommend? Or any kind playable tool? Can't really play well with dpad, and have a lot of issues doing things like dashes and any kind of quick inputs with analog.
What do you normally do after the stance light kick? I'm usually not fast enough to see if it connects to combo into bird kick or something. It's hard to tell actual frame advantage on the stance stuff other than the HP.
Why is it that she has the strongest legs but launching characters in the air, they fall back down so fast? Her launchers she keep the characters in the air a loy longer.

My favorite use for down foreword heavy kick is if you’re in the corner and land a drive impact counter it’s a great side switch combo starter.

That's actually a good point. Gets you out, puts them in, hard to go too far wrong with that and you're guaranteed to hit it.

Her neutral jump heavy kick is fantastic for corner pressure off of knockdown because it hits both in front and behind you, punishing dash-unders.

The same way the OD Lightning Legs can be used to get into Super 2, the OD SBK works well for that too.
