C.M. de la VEGA This is very much appreciated. I have After Effects CS6 on my i7 HP 8650W with Quadro 2000, 32GB RAM and 3TB Samsung EVO 850 SSD. It was bought specifically for After Effects. I use other laptops for general computing and web browsing.
This Summer I can at last open it up and get cracking on this tutorial. I'll play it on my tablet and follow every step, play around with all the settings you did until I'm able to do a whole project without using the tutorial.
Like I said, every footage I make I'll credit you because nobody else I've seen has clearly shown how to do it. They're either too fast, the detail on the video is too small or they have ambiguous narrative and often too much presumption that viewers know what they mean about something.

Hola C.M, Oye, how would you do this same effect, when the head motion of the original video is fast and moving from side to side, as in, the head is turning because of dancing. Do you have any recommendations on doing it? Especially with dealing with footage where the person's head you are trying to replace is moving from side shot to front shot? (AKA, putting your head in a movie scene that is not static) Thanks man, would love to know your input!
Those are tough situations. I would probably have to do some manual tracking. I'd start with Mocha to get an overall track of the position and scale. Probably ignore rotation for now. Paste that tracking data into my null object and then create a 2nd null object and call it manual track. Parent the 1st tracker to the 2nd tracker and make manual adjustments to the position, rotation and/or scale with the 2nd tracker/null object. Also, if its moving fast, I would probably track frame by frame to make sure that its tracking okay. Hope this helps! For hard situations, most likely you'll need to do some work by hand, frame by frame or group of frames at at time.

What would you do if you had long hair? (I'm swapping two people with long hair)
Hmm... depends on how long hair is and how much it moves. You may have to digitally erase some of the hair from original shot to pull it off.

Yes it should work as long as you have Mocha. The technique is the same regardless of older versions of AE. If you have Mocha AE (which comes bundled with After Effects) you're all set.

I noticed that everyone who knows how to do it already are giving this guy kudos. I've seen half a dozen videos took details notes, and I am a smart guy, I can't understand why I don't seem to be able to replace a moving face with AE. The guy expects everyone who doesn't know how to do this to be mind readers. However, his videos seem to be the best ones I've seen. Still doesn't show me right from step one to the end, as simple as possible or to the point.

I don't think there is an auto rotoscoping in vegas as used here with the head remove. But if you find that there is via a plugin such bcc etc please let me know

Mocha AE which is the lite version of Mocha comes bundled for free with AE. If you have AE installed you can run Mocha, but only when AE is open.

Do you have to use Mocha?
Not at all, you can use Ae's Tracker or other software. Mocha AE comes free with Ae and it's one of the best trackers out there.

How do you compare this with blender?
I haven't use Blender yet. I know Blender does 3D modeling/animation, does it also do tracking???
@@cmdelavega It does track from the tutorials I've seen, but looks more complicated, especially because of all the extra options.

After Effects saves the project file as .aep
Are you trying to render as an mp4? I use Adobe Media Encoder and use the TH-cam 1080p or 720p preset. With Media Encoder you can add the AE comp directly.

hmm. buena pregunta. 1) La capa que contiene el sonido en AE, asegurate que el icono de sonido esta visible (esta al par del icon del ojo para esconder la capa) (2) en Premiere Pro, aseguarte que tengas los tracks v1 y a1 selecionado para recibir video y sonido

Hmm.. try this. Select the null object that contains the data, hit the letter "u" to reveal all the keyframes. If there are keyframes for the anchor point, click on the stopwatch to delete the anchor point keyframes. Let me know who it goes.

Lol. No mention of the tracker or null. You just parent it as it magically appears 1/2 way through.
