I've owned a Valve Index for over a year.. is it still good?

  • Today I decided to sit down and take the time to talk to you guys about what gave me any type of TH-cam clout in the first place, my Valve Index. I figure most of you guys found this channel because of this headset, and more than likely you've just been waiting for the next update about it to come out, so here it is. After a year of owning my headset, how does it hold up against the somewhat stale competition?

    nope refuse to give fb money, they earn enough from selling my details from my fb profile, would much rather spend much more money to also have the peace of mind it's not going to turn into an expensive paper weight if fb deems you to have broken tos and ban your fb account

    When it comes to gaming the index and quest 2 are the best hands down. Quest with pc connection is king in therms of bang for your buck and index is the overall best. Because every other headset that has better specs has some sort of major flaw or is simply complicated to use in terms of games.
    So id say the index is the way to go because its in that sweet spot where it delivers a high quality experience in every area.....there are better headsets out but they start at double the price and the experience certainly isnt twice as good and/or they are better than the index in one area but fall short in others.
    And dont forget that you will most likely need a better pc to run something better than an index....mines worth 3,5k and if i want to get my moneys worth out of a high end headset id have to upgrade it to a 5k rig.

    I’ve had my index since release now and it still works fantastically. I love it and will only trade it for an index 2 or a full-set by any company whenever that becomes reality. If I had to give it one major criticism, the cable is a massive issue especially in the quality of the material. The perfect Index 2 imo would be wireless, lighter, smaller, and higher resolution. But thats quite an idealistic wishlist ^^’

      With how old the index actually is, I can see it becoming everything you want and more. I’m sure if they continued to work on the tech they probably already have something that fits your needs, they just haven’t hit a big enough upgrade point to justify selling a new model yet. Then again they could have completely ended work on the project and focused entirely on the deck, but I’m hopeful.

    idk why but the valve index durability is way better (I THINK) compared to quest 2 its just i wore a quest 2 once and it was uncomfortable af...So im saving up for valve index! I Hope i wont have to replace base stations or something the first week it arrives...that would suck'

    I've been wanting to get myself a new vr set to upgrade from my Quest 1 and I've been considering an index since most of the people I hang out with in VRChat play on an index and they tell me nothing but good things. Unless the Pico Neo 4 is better and cheaper than an Index, I'll likely just stick with my plan of getting an Index within the next few months.

    There’s one bad thing about the valve index the bad thing is that you need a cable to connect to your PC but what if you don’t have a PC so I don’t know if you need a cable or not?

    • @julian-vanilla8379
      @julian-vanilla8379 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not 100% sure what you're saying but Valve index isn't a standalone vr headset like both Quest 1/2 is. You need a PC for a valve index and a graphics card with a display port (similar to a hdmi) and make sure your pc is strong enough to handle vr also

      Yes, the quest 2 is still the most used VR headset on SteamVR. I said that the index was one of the most used VR headsets, not the most. there still no pack like this. i mean, in 2019, you got a good headset for the time, best controllers around and lighthouse tracking for around 1000 bucks. now, 4 years later, theres nothing like this around. its eighter enthusiast level hardware, or standalone with inside out tracking. so theres no 2023 index 2 neighter from valve, nor any other company. the price never really dropped for the pack and the headsets resolution is subpar nowadays
