    280RNDD176 is a direct replacement, no modifications needed. Great video!

      Thought the 10-10 used the D276, maybe just my 10-10s though

      It's D176 tail mount. From what I can tell all big macs are D176 and all small macs are A318 tail mount. K095 works like in the video with the oil mod. There are way more k095 bars than D176.

    Just so you know, the Oregon bar mount D176 will fit macs, echos and some poulans without any modification to the adjuster or oil holes. That would be a 280RNDD176 for a 28 inch bar, .050 gauge, replaceable nose and D176 mount. Stens makes a 25" bar (silver streak) which works pretty good on these saws too. I never would have believed this saw would work so well with a 28" bar but I've buried it in frozen white oak and she cut thru it with no problems at all.

      @@joecalton1449 thanks for the great video!!! Echo uses this mount on their CS-590 chainsaws so when you are looking for bars you can search using that saw too. I think Oregon only makes these bars up to 28" now so its good to know how to modify a longer husky mount bars.

      It definitely works on a 6-10a, Pro Mac 60 and a 10-10. I have those and it definitely works. Maybe the Pro Mac 800 mount is different?

    ..These old 54cc-57cc-60cc McCullochs will run 24"-28" bars fairly decent, especially in softwood..lots of Torque...I wouldn't recommend running bars of that length on modern saws in that cc range...they run higher RPM's and have a narrower power band...and generally lack the torque, lose power quickly when the RPM's drop...usually you are better off with an 18"-20" bar on those...If you want to run a 24" or 28" bar on a modern saw, you will probably need 70cc-80cc's to pull it well....

    A cut off wheel that goes on a Dremel is the perfect thickness to fit down in the rails and to cut a slot in the top of the hole. I have done it several times. It works perfectly and don't mess up the bar rails.

    Hey Joe, I'd hate to be the bearer of bad news and I'm surprised no one else has caught it. The reason for the oil hole alignment problem is because you in fact have the wrong bar. The correct bar mount number for a 10-10 is a D176 not K095. Take a look here: www.oregonproducts.com/en/powercut%E2%84%A2-guide-bar,-28%22/p/280rndd176. You'll see that a D176 mount is the same shape as the McCulloch original. The Pro Mac 10-10 is a great saw! Good Luck.

    I usually just use a Dremel and cut off disc to make a little groove on the side of the bar between the oil hole and the chain tensioner hole. Works great and much easier than drilling. Great video thanks

    Hey Joe!! New sub…and a fellow member of The Buckin Army! Bunkin is not just an arborist or logger, he’s a certified GURU!! I’m also a Macaholic!! In fact, Thursday I’m picking up a 610 identical to yours (minus the spurs), and Friday, a 10-10. Both with short bars but I’ll fix that defect in short order!
    And CONGRATULATIONS on kickin the butts!! It’s tough being in the shop or my truck without a smoke but it’s a tough I’ll gladly take! I switched to a vap cigarette and I’m down to 3% nicotine. Soon, they’ll be gone too! It’s a tough habit to kick but man, you gotta kick that thing to the curb cause we both know how much better we feel right!?!? You can do it brother…you’re bigger than that devils cancer stick!! Hang tough and every time you feel the bite to light up, grab a Mac and make some chips!!! I’ve be to Rocky Mountain National park and Yellowstone so I know those beetles you mention! My son lives down in Fort Collins. Hey, I need a friend like yours cause that Mac he gave you, is a treasure!! The carb will have the date on it.
    I’ll check out your other videos…stand up and buck and get that gullet!! 😁

    dad loved the mac 610s. I never ran another saw as a kid and didn't know how kind of slow they were for their weight, and they are that (a bit slow for their weight). But the two we had always ran and I know dad doesn't know how to set a carb and neither did I. Slow wasn't a big deal - we had plenty of time in the summer. A saw that wouldn't start would've been a big deal. We knew the end was near for mac when the "timberbear" saws started showing up on the shelf a kmart.

    You're dead right about matching your height to bar length so you don't have to bend over while bucking. I'm 6'3" and a 24"-25" bar works good for me. If you're shorter go 22" or less.

    I know this is an old vid but I just got some dogs for my saw like the ones you have on the 10-10 and I wasn't sure which way to put them on so I came back to here to see yours. • @joecalton1449
      @joecalton1449  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      in the woods I cut mostly cottonwood, elm, boxelder, and some pine, a skip 28" is about all I would want to run on a 10-10 or 610, I do run a full tooth chain on my 805 and I can bury it and it loves it. the 10-10 and 610 with the skip and 28" bars don't care to be buried unless the rakers are a bit high or you pull up on the saw a bit from what I have seen with my saws
