      Every person is different, with different needs. I have two kids, and a complete interior, two car seats for then kids in the back seat, and two twelves in the trunk on a 3K amp. It's enough to put the rear view mirror pointing straight down if I am out and about by myself, or if I have the kiddos, I'll turn the epicenter to pass through and it's as meek as a kitten. But, if I'm still around when the boys grow up, or I am financially capable of having a second vehicle, I'll go full tilt with 6 twleves and a wall, and passengers can call someone else to haul them around.

    Seems like a very nice system, I watched the whole series and I knew it was going o be awesome. But here is a nice cuve ball for you Mark: Try to build a system that leaves the car 100% usable (no big subwoofer box).
    I mean... The same you did with this one, but keeping the ability to use the whole trunk (the main space of it) and still being able to fold down the seats to acomodate large objects on both spaces. It would be very nice to see how that turns out and to be able to learn hou you would solve it.

    Every vehicle I have owned I have done audio systems starting when I was 16 in 05 from the days of audiobaun and Orion. I have made my fair share of noobie mistakes. I am well informed in what to do but by no means I am a professional and I am always willing to learn more as the technology is always changing. I am actually in the middle of redoing my Mega cab and have referred to your channel multiple times to learn as much as I can and how I wanted to plan out this system. I would love to go all out on my dream system but I am making due with the best I can budget and some information you have provided has definitely helped get the most out of what I can do. Thank you for the years of videos and willingness to share your knowledge in such a clear and easy understanding way for all levels of expertise.

    Hello, I need some help picking out a amp for my cars sub I have a Sony xplod 1300w 12 inch and I'm not sure what kind of amp I need and I'm on a budget, thanks.

    • @donaldharkness8332
      @donaldharkness8332 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Get an amp that does no less than the max RMS, not the MAX wattage. I would get one that goes a few hundred watts over the max RMS and keep the gains on the amp down. The amp will run cooler and provide overall better performance. As for budget, it all depends on what your budget is. Some people say budget and they have a few grand to drop where others try to do an entire system on only a few hundred bucks. Honestly, with it being a Sony Xplode, I would go for the Xplode amp that is a few hundred watts over the max RMS of your sub and you should be just fine.

    This build was awesome. I have two questions for you: what path do I need to take to learn more about how to complete installs professionally? Also, what do you think the issue may be if: when I either turn my ignition off or turn my lights off while my music is playing, the music cuts out briefly as if a power surge happens but then keeps playing. (Currently power cable to the amplifier is disconnected while this issue occurs). Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

    • @TheOriginalUberGoober
      @TheOriginalUberGoober 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is indeed a surge or clipping. You need to adjust your gains and perhaps look into capacitors etc to have more stable power to your amps. Some cars have circuitry that gets picky when things cycle on and off. An experience installer will be able to figure it out and install resistors or caps where needed.

    It's creature comforts for me, custom made bass knob and usb ports in unintruding locations. That's ideal, well done!
    I must say though, not sure the average customer or music listener would notice all the attention to detail you put in haha. I probably couldn't tell the difference between JL C3s and something cheaper. But if the customer's willing to pay for it, why not! Cheers.

    I know I'm being a picky ass, but I've never been that impressed with this gen of sonys. The 1000, 5000, and 5500 are fine for people who arent into audio, but the 7000 is just a complete disappointment, itd rather run a 5000 and put the money somewhere else in the system. I'm never disappointed by kenwoods, as long as the vehicle owner is capable of navigating it competently

    Why do subs hit harder when the windows are down?

    • @donaldharkness8332
      @donaldharkness8332 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the subs hit harder when your windows are rolled down then the enclosure isn't tuned to your vehicle's resonant frequency. That basically means that the sound waves are crashing into one another instead of meshing together. You get that a lot with prefab enclosures. If you have an installer who knows what they are doing and they build you a custom enclosure, then your system should sound great with the windows up.

    • @BradVicious
      @BradVicious 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@donaldharkness8332 It sounds fine with the windows up, too. I just notice that it hits harder when the windows are down. All of my setups have been like that. I currently have a JL Audio 10 inch W3v3 in the box that was made for the sub with an Alpine mrv-m500 powering it. Thanks for the the response. I never knew that was the reason subs do that.

    • @donaldharkness8332
      @donaldharkness8332 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BradVicious Subs love having enclosures designed to meet their TSPs. That is why I always find out what my vehicles resonant frequency is, find a sub or subs that very closely match those numbers and then build the enclosure tuned for both car and subs. You will notice a pretty good jump in dB even from a single 10". There's a lot of math involved this way lol. I had 2 Gen 3 Alpine Type R 12s on 4 JL Audio 500/1 V2s. 1 amp per coil. My little 1990 Mazda 323 was far louder than a suburban with 4 15s. It's all about getting the enclosure tuned properly and getting those sound waves working together instead of clashing.

    Don't know why people knock on sealed enclosures. They sound amazing and get low. (Depends on the driver though)
    Also don't know why some people knock on ported enclosures they same way people knock on sealed enclosures. They are both great. Get the right Woofer that fit your needs in the right enclosure and you'll be in subwoofer nirvana.
    I ran a Ultimax 10" sealed for 2 years and it played into the mid 20s with authority and under 20Hz had surprisingly clean audible output though not useable while driving. Have recently moved that into a new enclosure tuned to 19Hz with Passive Radiators and it destroys the lows and retains the kick in your chest for punchy music.

    Hey Mark, 1 year after I posted a comment and now I have a real Question. Well, more like asking for your opinion.
    I'm planning to make a full upgrade on an old 2007 Chrysler Voyager. I'm not 100% sure on the exact Head unit I will use, But So far I plann to go with JL Audio RD amps (400/4 & 500/1), Front C2 650 component speakers from JL Audio, Rear C1 6x9 coaxials and a single 10TW3 Sub in a custom box that will serve as sub enclosure, amp rack and center console. I have no meney to add a processor at this point and I feel like it would be a solid way to go whith this setup, but I'm hessitant about the speakers (maybe C3 front and C2 Rear if needed). I'm on a tight budget BTW.
    Thanks for any input ot my proyect.

    So I have 2 active subs with built in amps. 1500w peak and 750watt RMS each. Total 3000w peak 1500 watt RMS. Want to run from battery to Capacitor then to a distribution block and to the amps/subs. Wire from battery to Capacitor would be around 5- 6 feet. From capacitor to distribution block around 1-2 feet. and from distribution block to anmps/subs 1 foot. The Capacitor is a 5000watt capacitor. What gauge wire do I need from the battery to the capacitor and capacitor yo distribution block, and also what gauge from block to amps/subs? The fuse sizes for both the main power cable and distribution block I'm also unsure of.

    I wish someone could help me. I have a 2019 impala premier. Long story short I’ve already completely upgraded everything. 3 amps and a yellow top battery in the back. My troubling question is I have a PAC Audio amp pro GM 61, I believe, which ever one works for the Bose system and my question is I have to turn my front and rear amp down because I have a continuous shhhhhhhh sound like when your TV is turned all the way up and there’s nothing playing, that static sound that you get. Not a crackling sound but just that quiet sound. I have been told it’s called white noise. I know there is someone out there that can help me fix this problem. Pac audio told me to switch the little voltage button on the unit and it did drop the static sound a little bit but it is still there. I need to figure out the problem so that I can turn my amps up. There should be no sound coming out of those speakers till the music is turned on. Can someone please help me.

    TH-cam audio folks just end up pissing me off because I expect my audio installs to be in the ballpark similar quality…maybe not as custom as CAF…but I call all around Atlanta and nobody does the quality work like I see on this channel or 5 star car stereo. I use the techniques I see on these channels and my installs are better than most installers I’ve encountered. Ive experienced no use of harnesses so wires don’t need to be cut, no ferrules and heat shrink not electrical tape to cover soldered joints, not able to build amp rack and “secured” my amp under seat with screws into carpet. Installers are trash…but thanks to this channel and others I go behind them and clean everything up or better yet…just do everything myself from the jump

    Hello, I really like the idea of Stinger Heigh 10 unit. I have someone who is attempting to install the Heigh 10 unit in my 2012 Mercedes E63 amg. I was using one of those Chinese model android10.25 screens but it was full of errors and cliques. I can't find a kit for my vehicle. I am having a custom install done. I was told by a professional installer that the PAC RC1 would not allow my steering wheel controls to work. I was told by the shop where I purchased the unit that the PAC RC1 would work but it had to be compatible with the Clarion systems otherwise it would not work. The Mercedes original system is a fiber optic network. I am connecting this unit to 2 JL Audio VXI 8 channel DSP amplifiers and a JL Audio HD 1200/1 amplifier to run my 13 inch W7 subwoofer. I am using Morel Virtous speakers 3 ways components in the front and 2 way Morel Nanos components in the rear. I am also using Morel Virtous Integras for my rear center stage and Morel 2 inch for my front center stage. I am hoping this will work in my vehicle. I have been unable to find any resources to help with information for this install. I am in northern California and most professional shops have not installed the Stinger Heigh 10 that I have contacted. I called the Stinger company and they were not helpful either. Any help you could give would be much appreciated. If not wish me a lot of luck. Thanks

    I love these "everyday driving" car installs, but what i dont like, its the sealed enclosure, i get the fact you dont wanna use alot of trunk space, but then why not go with a pair of smaller subs, with a ported box, i am sure it would be just as good or even better that having those twelves suffer in that box build, but atleast the customer is happy

      They are 13s, and since JL Audio does real engineering and has real subwoofers with actual design and technology they can perform exceptionally in even a sealed box. There is a stigma that a box has to be ultra complex with 13 ports that corkscrew through the fabric of space time to create some magically efficient output, but a properly designed sealed box with the right subs sounds awesome.

    I don’t understand the location of the fuses. Aren’t they supposed to be close to the battery to protect the cable also… what’s the purpose of having them way back towards the amp?

    • @CarAudioFabrication
      @CarAudioFabrication  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is one close to the battery. But you also need one anytime you step down in wire size. Like when I go from 0 gauge to 4 gauge for the two amps.

    Is there such a thing as a budget version of this (Parts)? Obviously can’t skimp on the labor. Sound treat the doors only/keep factory head unit? What’s a realistic cost? I have a 18 Passat.

    Seeing the spare brought back memories. A long time ago I had a sub floor in my trunk with a few batteries, 4 JL 12W3’s, 3 Fosgate amps. Long story short, I had a flat late at night on the highway with no cell service and not another human in sight other than a pissed off girl friend. I had to dismantle everything to get to my spare tire. Naturally it started raining. Lessons where learned that day.

      Thank you for the reply! Unfortunately I think they are out of my price range I’m not upgrading the rear door speakers so I can spend more on the front doors I would like to keep it under 200. I have been looking at nvx jbl and alpine. Can you recommend something else for me to look at ? I will be doing sound dead and speaker baffles. I will be amplified later possibly do you have any promo code on the JL product? Thanks so much love all the videos !
