You really have a skill for teaching that I haven't found in other videos. Your step by step sweater was the first proper object I knitted and I learned so much from that project. I've wanted to knit some socks for months and started a few patterns and frogged them because I just couldn't get my head around it, but this is so easy to follow along with the written pattern. And you've de-mystified charts! Really brilliant work.
FLORENCE I MADE MY FIRST SOCK EVER!!!!! i think im more proud of this than my first raglan sweater (also made from your tutorial)!!! you're so good at explaining construction and i get more and more excited to knit projects. thank you so much!!!
I do have SSS, so I almost always knit my socks two-at-a-time, toe-up. I finish both socks at the same time, I never worry about making sure the second is the same length as the first, and it’s easy to match stripes or other elements. You’re a great tutorialist, by the way. Keep up the good work.
I was never interested in knitting socks but now you've inspired me. I'm literally so excited for your cardigan pattern! Your step by step sweater was my first sweater.
I just got on Ravelry and purchased this sock pattern. Of course I payed full price but you really are so sweet for offering it for free if needed. By the way, I really love your podcasts. :)
Florence, like many others who have commented, I am so glad I found your channel. I am just waiting for my yarn to be delivered for my first step by step sweater, and now that I’ve come across this sock tutorial, that will follow. I have returned to knitting after learning as a child at home in Ireland, and have knitted 3 pairs of toe up socks with self striping yarn after I learned at my knitting shop - Morris and Sons in Sydney. However, I am super excited to learn how to knit lace top down given lace is also used in other patterns. Please keep up your excellent work in giving us beginner knitters the confidence to try patters that we would otherwise not have the confidence to try ourselves. ❤
I finished my first sock!!!🧦❤ It’s so pretty! So excited to make the second one and have a pair 😍 Thank you so much for the tutorial! This was my first ever project and it went so well thanks to you showing and explaining every part of it! 🥰
i dont understand heel flap, please help!! i slip one, knit one for a row, then i start from slipping again? or i just continue the pattern? i dont know why my pattern looks like diagonal lines… 😞
Brilliant tutorial. I am knitting my first pair of socks and have tried learning from a few other videos but not going too well. This really helped- I’m starting with a plain sock for now. Thank you
Thank you Florence, you have inspired me to knit my first pair of socks.I have just mastered the magic loop, so I can't wait to make your pretty socks as you have explained it so well.
Such a great tutorial, thank you! I just finish my first sock following along with you an dit was so easy I couldn't believe it! I can't wait to knit the second one and wear it! Thanks again for your amazing work 🔥
Just finished the first sock and it's so comfy, the lace looks amazing! And I agree with you, super excited to make the second one, already casted it on. Thank you so much for the tutorial!
This is enormously helpful-knitting has felt like this unknowable art until I started watching your tutorials. You really have a knack for clarity! This video gave me the confidence to buy 2.5mm needles. Can’t wait to practice!
I just finished knitting a pair of these and they are so pretty! Thanks so much for the lovely pattern and detailed tutorial. My first time knitting lace went well thanks to your careful and clear instructions.
Florence I just finished these socks and I love them! As others have said, you are a great teacher and your video tutorial was super helpful combined with the written pattern. Can't wait to knit more of your designs.
I did it! I knitted my lace socks, and they are beautiful! I Love them! Thank you so most. I will send you a picture after I finish blocking them. You did a great job on teaching this tutorial! Thanks! Keep-up the good work!
How to tutorials like this helps me to learn way faster!! I can read patterns, but of course depending on the person doing the tutorial I have to learn so many new terms, it’s just easier to see it than to read it. Thanks for sharing!
Almost finished my first jumper and can’t wait to start knitting the socks and learn more! Thanks a lot for your tutorials and inspiration, I’d second that you’re a great teacher
Thank You Florence for the pattern and video tutorial (which I refer to on a regular basis) I’ve only knit a few pairs of socks, this is the second time using sock yarn. I enjoy learning new stitches. The half twisted rib cuff was a first for me. I had to concentrate while knitting the cuffs. They look lovely, even with my few mistakes 😊. I just started the lace pattern and it’s so pretty. Happy knitting 🧶 Karen
Thank you so much! This has helped me start my second pair of socks. I love the way you explain things, and the pattern is so lovely. The video has helped a lot, too. Makes it less scary. Thanks for all the work you put into it.
Thank you for this tutorial, Florence. I just purchased the pattern and am very excited to get started! I have made your Step by Step Sweater and enjoyed your beautifully explained directions. This will be fun because I am new to lace. 🎉
Knitting socks has always looked so intimidating to me but I really want to try, and this tutorial makes it look so much easier than I thought. (Especially for such a beautiful detailed pattern) I originally tried on a super small circumference and I didn't enjoy it at all, so magic loop might be the best method for me. I can't wait to get my needles and yarn in the mail and try out this pattern. Thanks for taking the time to make this video 😁😁😁
Such a lovely tutorial! I love knitting socks on dpns...I do both socks at the same time I am not excited about magic loop when I've tried it,but after watching your tutorial I feel I should give it a go. You are very inspiring,a great teacher, thank you x
This was a great intro to sock making. I have made a lot of socks this year (mostly vanilla using self striping or hand dyed yarns). I am working on a pair of Rye Socks for my son right now 🙂 I have a lot of sock yarn in my pantry to work through so there will be a number of socks made in the coming weeks.
Thank you so much for the super sock tutorial.. I have made socks before but never done lacework.. ordered some new longer needles and bought your pattern! Can’t wait to start 🧶😊
Thankyou so much for this tutorial, Florence! I’ve only knitted one pair of socks and found myself slavishly following the instructions without really understanding what I was doing. Your clear instructions and demonstration just made the process click in my mind. Can’t wait to start a second pair of socks! ❤❤❤
Excellent tutorial. Thank you. 2024 is the year of sock knitting for me. This pretty pattern is on my queue and I already have the yarn I want to use for them.
Thank you so much for the pattern and tutorial. It’s truly helpful seeing your tips with sock knitting as I’ve always thought your socks are beautiful❤
thanks for this video, just found you and subscribed, love your tuition i've knitted but feel out of habit for years, thanks for the offer of the pattern at a discount or free but for the price you charge, i'm happy to pay you full price. your work deserves it
That was just great. I know where I'm going to start with sock making now. thankyou. I will be buying your pattern. I believe knitting lace patterned socks will be simpler using magic loop. That's also a good tip on the Chiaago needles.
Thank you so much for such an amazing tutorial! These will my first pair of lace socks. Almost done the first sock! I’m looking forward to the cardigan tutorial ❤
Thank you sooo much for this tutorial, I’ve had so much trouble with the heel and gusset so I went to a short row heel (which has so many holes 😅) but I’ve gotten your pattern and will give these a try!
i bought some sock yarn for a different pattern a while ago and the written pattern was just too confusing for my first pair!!! i’ve been so excited for this since you mentioned it!
This tutorial was amazingly helpful! I am relearning how to knit and your channel has helped me a ton. :) I did however manage to mess up my first sock by knitting it inside out...still trying to figure out how that happened haha. I'm going to try again, and hopefully, knit it right-side out 🤣 anyway, thank you so much for this tutorial!
Thank you for the tutorial Florence, I will knit my first pair of socks with your help, I just have one question: it's the same process if I use double pointed needles? I have them on hand. Thank you, again. I love your videos. Hugs from México ♡
Nice tutorial. Although I knit a fair amount of socks I love listening to your voice and explanations. I wish I could perfect your knitting technique. I keep trying to hold needles like a knife but my preference is a pencil hold. I’m sure this slows me down but after 60 years of knitting it’s hard to change. 😂😂 I don’t have second sock syndrome, like you I get excited to have a finished pair. I can never understand second sock syndrome with people who then go on to knit yet another pair of socks!!! It’s just knitting 🤔
Great tutorial, thankyou. I have knitted 2 prs of socks in the past, but find I don’t wear one pair and the second infrequently. The reason is the yarn choice. I find the bed of the sock uncomfortable, I can feel the ridges of the stockinette. The first pair were in a handmade sock yarn, the second ( more comfortable, in Cascade yarn Heritage print, 75% Merino, 25% nylon). I used Basic Socks pattern by Winwick Mum. Can you recommend a yarn to try for your lace socks that will be “soft” or less noticeable under foot?
Thank you for an excellent tutorial Florence! You have taught me how to knit my first pair of lace socks, and how to understand and not feel intimidated by charts 😃😃😃🧶🧶🧶💜💜💜
Hey Florence! Thank you so much for this tutorial!! 😊 I have been wanting to get into sock knitting for so long now but was always intimidated by it. But with rhis tutorial now I’ll give it a try! ✨ Just one question: the pattern says it can be modified for using dpns as well. Where would I ideally split both of the charts to do this?
Thank you so much for showing how to knit sock. I have never knitted a sock before. I’ve done lots of sweaters and dresses but not a sock. I am grateful for it but i think I would learn better if you can show it a little bit slower when it come to the lace or the short rows. But I love watching your videos and I am planning on making your socks as soon as I finished my catedral sweater by Claudia Quantanillo of eweknit PS: your Kitchener stitch tutorial is really good and easy for me to understand 👍😍
Hi Florence. I plan on knitting these socks but prefer to knit toe up rather than cuff down and have a couple of questions for you 😊 Presumably if I knit toe up using the same pattern, I will probably create an upside down pattern? I am not sure I mind too much but what if I knit the pattern in reverse - so starting with row 8 and then working backwards? (I haven’t knit lace before). Do you think that might work to create the correct pattern? Also, I haven’t knit this heel construction before - would it work on a toe-up sock?
I am knitting the small version and used the long tail cast on. I foolishly did not try on my sock until I finished the heel and discovered that I can't get the cuff over my ankle and heel 😢. I think my cast on was too tight. Should I frog it? I tried washing and blocking it to stretch it but it didn't fix my problem. This is the first time I've made cuff down socks. Any suggestions welcome!
lol I was at the end of making the sock and was thinking "I don't think I like having holes (lace pattern) on the bottom of my sock" then looked at your socks again and ended up not continuing with the stockinette stitch for the bottom of the foot x.x lol my ADHD really did me dirty on this project. Even tho that happened I love the pattern and can't wait to finish it again xD
You really have a skill for teaching that I haven't found in other videos. Your step by step sweater was the first proper object I knitted and I learned so much from that project. I just started knitting and I’m soooo glad I discovered your channel, I can’t wait to binge watch and knit everything I can find on here
Somehow you made this pattern more understandable than the very simple pattern I watched before this one! Thank you so much for this tutorial!

Great Tutorial! I immediately cast on the second sock to avoid second sock syndrome and that works for me. Thanks!

Best tutorial ever. I have shared with my knitting group

Started on your sweater a week ago and still in progress, this will definitely be next project to work on!! Thanks a bunch🙏🏼🙏🏼😊
Thank you - this is brilliant. You make it seem so easy. I am still going on your jumper pattern/tutorial. I look forward to your videos.
I have knit simple socks before in worsted weight so this is the perfect next challenge. Thank you for the great quality video!
This is such a pretty pattern! I'm definitely going to make these
I tried to do a lace sock from a book I have and got really confused really quick, excited to follow your pattern!
thanks for this video, just found you and subscribed, love your tuition i've knitted but feel out of habit for years, thanks for the offer of the pattern at a discount or free but for the price you charge, i'm happy to pay you full price. your work deserves it

Great job of teaching, I love your tutorial.
My first pair of socks with pattern and this type heel.
Thank you so much .
Thank you sooo much for this tutorial, I’ve had so much trouble with the heel and gusset so I went to a short row heel (which has so many holes 😅) but I’ve gotten your pattern and will give these a try!
Such a great video - thanks a lot for your thorough walk through. 🥰🙏🙏 I still don´t understand how you can knit this evenly 😁- beautiful work 👍
Thank you Florence for the generous blessing ❤
Just started knitting these. Downloaded the pattern. Managed to get some of the regia bamboo to try as well. 😊
i bought some sock yarn for a different pattern a while ago and the written pattern was just too confusing for my first pair!!! i’ve been so excited for this since you mentioned it!
Amazing tutorial ❤ I literally casted on right away!

What a lovely video and so clearly explained! Your knitwear is beautiful 😍
Very very cool socks!! I will definitely be knitting them soon! 🌷
I just finished my first sock, thank you!
Thanks so much for this! I’m a beginner and I’ve been wanting to knit socks. This is so helpful! ❤

Very excited for this gonna make matching ones with my bestie
i love knitting lace socks so i am very excited about this video! :)

Thank you for this video tutorial! ❤
I love the look of this sock so much, but I was wondering if you used the whole skein, or can I maybe get away with 70gr of yarn?
What size do these socks fit? Thanks for this ameizing video ❤!
Hi Florence. I plan on knitting these socks but prefer to knit toe up rather than cuff down and have a couple of questions for you 😊

Hi Florence, what other video tutorials for socks have you seen that you thought were good for beginners?
Are there any patterns with straight needles?
Beautiful socks ❤
Very happy to knit my first lace work sock, can I use 9 inch needles? Thank you 😊
Awesome 👍🏾 thank you 🧶
Thanks so much for sharing 🧦
Thank you for this!

which one should i follow your tutorial or the chart? if i follow your tutorial there is no purl stitch on each end
When you say you're going to do one more row after doing 12 rows cause you have to finish on a 4 or 8, what do you mean?
Hi, how do I size up? I have 72 stitches and more than happy to buy. Shall I just knit 3 extra stitches beginning and end each row? Many thanks
