I saw her in Munich last year, singing Casta Diva only 10 meters apart from me, I sat in the front row. I can only say: Bravaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !!!
In early 90s she said in an interview that she was not going to sing Norma ever and here she is after almost 2 decades. Callas with her best Norma is known to have had the best voice for Norma - that thick and deep voice which was referred to as often being ugly and big, and yes Caballe's version is beautiful and magical. All 3 are great and so very different.

Although I absolutely adore the Casta Diva of Maria Callas and Renate Tebaldi, Edita's version made me absolutely swoon with her beautiful coloratura and the high note you never hear the others sing. Brava Edita Gruberova!

I saw her live in Norma several times and I liked her very much. She had endless ovations from all the public. I consider it a fortune that she sings Casta diva because before I never listened to this aria because I did not like so much the voices and the interpretations of the other singers.
Congratulations! If the ensemble can do it in the same way like Saturday, they'll put a spell on you - from the moment, Casta Diva will start till the end. - My husband, not a real fan, asked in the end: "Is it really finished? I could hear some more!" Best wishes!

Very nice ,if the Callas or the Caballes did not exist or were invented ,after those 2 is very difficult to give a proper judgement to anybody talent.Gruberova does NOT disgrace herself in this aria ,but it is not for her to sing this role,her light voice does not bring out the necessary dramatic effects required in this masterpiece .The Opera cannot be shelved due to lack of singers for the role,so we take the second or third best ,but as usual for my personal pleasure i shall have to go back in time . Thankfully nor Callas nor Caballé sang this aria in their 60s. Callas had to quit a performance of Norma in her 40s and Caballé was flat most of the times in her 40s as well. Very often the past seems greener, but is it really?

I read that Giuditta Pasta was not able to sing Casta Diva in the original key written by Bellini and that he had to lower it an entire tone. Gruberova sings it in the original key and in my opinion it is not true that her interpretation is not dramatic: I find it dramatic but also beautiful as I already wrote. The other interpretations are for me only dramatic but unplesant for my ears. Greetings
@Lederius18 i agree with you. i am not a musical expert and therefore as a profane i listen to all casta diva videos (callas, sutherland, caballe, sills, fleming, ecc.) and can say that the interpretation of casta diva that most pleases my soul and my ears is that of gruberova followed by that of sarah poncell. with the gruberova i thought there is finally a casta diva sung with subtle delicate voice with a very beautiful timbre and not with dark and too heavy voices that i dislike completely.
Cannot believe that she is capable of singing int his key with such little effort. There are so few sopranos that are capable of singing with so much drama and emotion as she is.
I love this its beautiful i have heard others sing this and i can say i have not heard better . I do also love Joan Sutherland but this is great in my opinion superb .
