The torque gain is a little surprising. Great to see it. Looking forward to seeing those velocity stacks and were this bike will go with just bolt-ons.
Your comments on the Aprilia do not tell the entire story. Aprilia had a recall in 2021 on 600 units that had rods that were not properly hardened. Once the issue was addressed with replacement oem rods, we never had another rod failure in 2021. Also, Moto America in their infinite wisdom restricted the RS660 to stock rods as a balancing measure so going to an aftermarket rod was not an option. In 2022, Yamaha introduced factory support and the R7 development took a huge jump with power levels increasing to approx 100hp. So, while all the Yamahas and Suzukis were running Carrillo rods, the RS660s had to run stock rods while still adding significant horsepower over stock. For 2023, Moto America removed the stock rod restriction on the RS660 and with aftermarket rods, we never had a component issue after that. I look forward to seeing the GSX8R on the twins cup grid in 2024. We'll see how far Moto America restricts the bike with the mandated Mektronik ECU. With a 117cc displacement advantage over the RS660 and a 78cc advantage over the R7, they will have to do something to get the torque down to somewhere in the low to middle 50s, or hit it with additional weight.
After watching some videos between 2wdw and a competitor I have to say this bike has caught my eye. Have seen some fully race built at the track and they are absolutely a menace with ~90hp. I have been a yamaha MT09 simp for sometime now (have a 23 MT09sp) and really miss that 270 crank twin I had with an MT07. I like what I'm seeing with this Suzuki
Get one of these to then you have both :p Also with the V2 air box mod and full exhaust these have been seeing 88 whp, that’s almost 100 hp at the crank. Very impressive.
@@sleeper.simulant7327 I mean that's not a bad idea to have both! Would love to add one to the stable for sure. I mean 100 crank hp is spectacular on this bike and I LOVE that 2 cylinder sound it produces. Great stuff
@@do.on2wheels38 I’m strongly considering the 8R for an upgrade this spring. Also looking at the MT09, just the regular model though not the SP. a big dealer a few hours from me has a used 2022 for $8999 with only 2000 miles on it. No dealer fees at this place either. I bought the GSX 8R a couple weeks ago, and my full Akrapovic exhaust system just arrived today. I have a power commander 6 for the 8S/8R on the way, but curious now about the flashing you mentioned in the video. Would definitely like to know more!
My butt dyno was spot on with mine. Similar mod path but built my exhaust before any were on the market. Interested in the velocity stack testing and am curious if it'll help with the torque dip
Great video but you compared this bike with the MT07 and not with the honda CB750 hornet that is more powerfull and cheaper??? Let's not even talk about the new CF MOTO 800NK Advanced... I think you should do the same with the Honda soon to test !
@allnighterist they're teamed up with KTM and make parts for some KTM bikes too. I had a cfmoto and it was a good bike. If not for wanting something bigger and the 800s not being available when I upgraded, I would have considered just getting another.
Do you know if this full Akra will fit to VSTROM 800DE without issue? Looking at every photo and my bike.. it seems the 'resonator' will clear the bars holding the "skid plate" bellypan and be all good.. but... can't be too sure. I certainly don't want a monstrosity of an exhaust like they have designated for the VSTROM.
When you said flash you don’t mean piggy back right? You mean flash de OEM ECU to remove restrictions? After a flash you can use a piggy back to continue with tune adjustments?
technically you can but wouldnt want to because a piggyback would override the flash they put in the ecu. if you make big changes after flash normally re-flashes are cheaper than original and minor updates are free

That's making me consider a GSX-8R if I ever find one second hand as a semi-comfortable reliable sportbike unless we get actual confirmation of a R9 from Yamaha 😤. I like the torquey motors for street duty and occasional trackday in the future.
I just wish the gsx8r looked nice, its just too ugly. It would be my next bike if it didn't look like diarrhea. I prob just get the zx4rr cause it looks good, sounds good, and a special bike.

I can't wait to see what you can do with the 750 Hornet engine. Honda really needs a CBR750R
Yes! Especially since it weighs way less than the Suzuki.
Don't believe it can gain as much %
