It;s a 413 out of a 1970 motorhome, bone stock, had a a 2 barrel carb on it, 413 had tall deck heads, that intake wouldn't fit, so the reason for the 440 heads, seats are out of 73 roadrunner, toggle switch on the drivers door is the rear steer, the rear main seal on the motor is non existant ,I left the front bumper on to stand on to work on the motor, I put up 100,000 bales of hay a year, that front bumper was to push the hay wagons into the pole barns when they got to full to drive thru, wheels and tires are 960 lbs each, I did have a brother Mike but he wasn't the announcer, but I did meet him, I raced monster trucks 4 7 years, ride trucks made more money and didn't break as much where the top links connect to the front axle ,needs attention, the bolts don't like to stay tight

They can spray formic acid as a defense mechanism (a lot of types of ants can as well) but the defining factor of Crematogaster is their behavior called 'flagging' where they raise their gasters (butts) in the air over their abdomen/thorax and will wiggle them. I have been watching your channel since you were about 100k subscribers. I just can’t wait to see more of this series. My favorite video is still the snow blower you picked up for free, fixed, and then returned to the single mother. I’m glad your channel has done well because I love to see good people succeed.
Throwing a 6-71 on top of that turd would definitely create a "blower"...as in "blowed up" as in a ventilated block after adding some windows on the crankcase
Derek, I’m curious… do you realize that when anyone else on the planet disturbs a wasp nest, they get stung? Are you invisible to them? When you opened the glove box and there was another nest… and you left it open… and then you leaned in to get a closer view… my brain melted. And then just for kicks you threw the switch at the nest before moving on. It bottles my mind. What is happening? Love your videos. Thank you for the endless hours of entertainment.
So true, I was getting fuel at a Speedway Fuel/Truck Stop & also putting air in a tire. Pulled on the air hose reel & notice a wasp land near that reel. Well I slapped it with my leather gloves and it was fight or flight. Those rascals were flying inside my leather gloves to sting me. Got 2 or 3 good hits by them , but I had the diesel squeezer & just one pull of the trigger & it was game over for James, Carl, & Jesse & their brothers. Turned out , someone had stuffed paper towels in the bracket that held the reel & those guys built a nest under that.
Exactly what I was thinking, every time I even accidentally get near a wasp nest like that I’m bound to get stung. I dunno maybe those Tennessee wasps are mellower
Derek, I'm allergic to wasps. Therefore I've studied them somewhat. When you happen on them, they walk around on the nest. When they notice you and Thier wings lay down they are fixing to nail you. I was a mechanic before I retired. I carry an epi pen everywhere. Stay safe friend
Restore Restore Restore, Make that thing whole again. I know some things look good as they are weathered. This needs to go back to its Glory! Show it the love.
Son bought his first car a few weeks back, and my new favorite hobby is hearing him drop a socket into the engine bay, and then yelling at him, “WELP, THATS GONE - YOURE NEVER GONNA SEE THAT AGAIN. GOTTA BUY ME A NEW ONE!” 😂
Duel is one of my favorite movies. Its Jaws 1 actually. Dennis Weaver was perfect in it and conveyed the edge of the seat anxiety the whole way through.
Watching Derek at the live event a couple of videos back just shows the genuine type of guy he is. Meeting the fans and showing the respect for the veterans. He reminds me of my brother that way, he's a genuine guy too that worked his way up in motorsport and became a world champion. He still retained his respect for the fans and his values and attitude towards people never changed. I've been with him all overr the world and I've seen how other "heros" in his sport treat their fans, sure they will sign an autograph but then I've seen them immediatley say no selfies, move on and sign the next one with not even a smile or a "Hello". Fans walking away looking crushed. My brother will have photos taken with you, he'd drag your family from behind the camera for a photo too, have a chat and a laugh, throw in a t-shirt, poster or a hat, etc, his queue would take hours to go down but everyone left with a smile and a story to tell. I can tell you from watching his videos that Derek is a true hero and you wouldn't be disappointed if you met him. He's a rare specimen, cherish him ❤
All the TH-cam folks that are associated with him are great people. There are plenty of folks at the Cleetus-N-Cars rally's that truly love their fans. Demolition Ranch, Donut Operator and the AK Guy come to mind. I've met them all and they'll talk to you as long as you want to talk. They don't walk away. Derek is a great guy. I had a great conversation with him at an event and I felt bad because I knew there were people waiting. I felt rushed, and if he did, you would never know it. I think all of his followers are probably cut from the same cloth. We were all raised right. I think we'll all be OK eventually. We can all make our world a better place. Take care.
1971 'Duel" with Dennis Weaver, this was Steve Spielberg's thesis Film... I use to come home from school and it was always on and I always watched! lol Great Moive!!
My 5 y/o just today told me when he grows up he wants to be a monster truck driver. Every day I get with him makes this fella proud. He's my mini me, and he tells me all the time. I've got my work cut out for me. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
as someone who spent the 90s putting on and taking off the tires on one of these things ... they are HEAVY! we used a big rubber mudflap from a tractor trailer flat on the ground. pored some dextron on it . put half of a mudflap on top of that. then 2 guys rolled the tire onto the mudflap(s) and pushed it in while a 3rd ran on all the lug nuts. this was a 5 ton with portals so i think there was 10 lug nuts .
The best part of having friday nights off again is not having to wait until saturday to watch the new vice grip garage videos. Thank you mister Derek, Sir
Loved seeing the boys appearing in the background. Like the sound of a monster truck barking off in the distance magically summoned them. Reckon the Black Sheep still has some tricks up the sleeve too!
I love the fact that Derek does this all on his own, no camera man jus him, a project an the camera for us to watch. A guy has come a long way, I've been watching for a long time, and always keeps me interested in what's going on.
HE had a camera person for part of it, also someones hand handed him the jug of coolant when he was on the ladder. In one scene there were two people walking toward him from way back behind the truck.
I just wanted to holler and say thank you for not just running that ol pickup across the scales. I find it super cool to fix something like that. I personally grew up farming and just building what I wanted from farm implement parts. It’s awesome to see one someone from a while back built and is still capable of doing what it was built to do. I will be watching this project closely.
I have never approved of a project of yours more than this one. Damn I’m super excited to see this thing get fixed up. I’ve always wanted to fix up one of these old monster trucks that got abandoned.
I don’t watch this channel that often, not for lack of quality content, just don’t have the time. I say this to point out that I just noticed the 2M subscribers! I had no idea he had that many! Good on ya!
My big Olds motor sounds like an Old Mopar with the high-torque aftermarket starter in it. Reminds me of my high-school days bombing around in the various slant six, 318, and 360 Mopar beaters that I drove around in.
In a 1959 Chrysler New Yorker, 413 was a great engine too. Easily beat those little Tri-five Thunderbirds, & could cruise 125MPH on the interstate with ease. Ask me how I know!
"It's got brakes!!!" .... nope, that was my ladder ... 😎 Bringing this back to it's old beauty will be an epic project. Going to look great when its done.
Ikr lol I was like I hope he doesn't go forward anymore he's going to run over his ladder lol. I loved how he didn't mention it when he got out and seeing it under the bumper lol. Great stuff Brother!
Man oh man, has it been that long ago when you're in that little garage, neighbors wondering what heck is going on, "flip phone" recording!!! God Bless ya son.... you deserve the accolades you and the family have earned them!!!
I absolutely love this!!! Owning a monster truck is the dream of every gen X at the very least! I can't tell you how awesome this is. Personally, I think the 1776 Chevelle livery needs to have a rebirth on this monster, but if you keep the old school graphics, well...I'll love that too! I can't wait to see this old relic come back to life and make a whole new generation of mini grips smile as they ride along! As always, Derek, thanks for being so awesome! You are truly *theeee* embodiment of what the car community is all about! Friends, family, and the almighty combustion engine.
It is way better to be chill around them, they can smell that fear and all that. I got to admit when I saw them I jumped! Not so bad at the gas cap but the glove compartment and they are those red ones and it wasn't like he could just open the door. I felt that fear. Maybe Derek is immune.
Really rootin for you on this one Would love to see it being enjoyed by the local community. We watch every TH-cam you put out. So much better than what’s on TV !!! 😊❤
This one was a great revival. Love seeing the work on a monster truck. I really look forward to the possibility of the guy that did the decals originally come back and re-do them at some point. That would be great to see and I am sure lots of great stories about the truck. I've never worked on a car in my life, but I love watching Derek's content. I always learn something and I love to get to hear some of the history that Derek uncovers about these rigs. Love ya Derek! Hope to meet you someday!
Yeah most definitely Derek IS the Bob Ross of old car revival s. He's just got a knack for it. One thing's for sure,he's very patient. Keep up the great work ethic 👍👍💪💯
Dude thank you i have an almost 7 hour drive to Pigeon Forge today with the family, between this and the regal video i got enough to get half way through the trip!
I jumped back when Derek opened the gas filler door and the glove department and those wasps started flying out and he didn't even flinch. I've lived in East Tennessee my entire life and I still can't even get used to that when it happens.
"I wanted something built out of grit, passion, and hard work that has history, and that's the black sheep, TO a TEE." Speaking to many with this Mr. Universe. LOVE IT 🖤
It was too perfect listening to him struggle.. not being able to see what's happening and then he yeets it out the window without missing a beat... hilarious
When it's time to put fuel in the Monster Truck, carry your fuel jug up the stairs, place in ride seat over the fuel fill, use syphon hose, and let physics take care of the rest. No need to hold the tank at all, and it will fill faster. But, you know, your method got the job done in the end... Love what you do, thanks for putting in all the long hours it takes to make it happen.
Ouverson has all the axle and steering parts you could need for the 2 1/2 axles. They even have diff lockers if you want to get hardcore offroad with it.
I can't wait to see more on this Monster, figuring out the shift pattern sounds interesting since you think it might just be reversealized. Giving rides at events is an awesome idea.
Would be sweet to see you build a deck out of plywood and 2x4's for working around the engine compartment of the black sheep. Something like a patio to a trailer park custom home. Get your boys to paint up the deck with cars being crushed under the monster truck. Could be a fun little channel 2 VGL video idea!
A guy has come a long way from a cell phone taped to a garage door. Now a world class presenter. Glad to be along for the ride!
Appreciate you so much!
This is the only reason why I even have a going to town rig...
Definitely
I have been here long enough to remember that as well.
How does this guy do it all? On top of balancing family and work.... he balanced on that unattached staircase.

I’m curious… do you realize that when anyone else on the planet disturbs a wasp nest, they get stung?
I would have ran out of there, looney toons style
You gotta talk nice to them 😂
Seems to me that he just plain isn't afraid of them. Which is good, because they can smell fear.
Not only is this monster truck build going to be awesome to watch but I love that you shoot the core footage with a tripod. Keeps you above the rest.

Just when I thought you couldn’t come up with another new idea- MAN what a bunch of fun this will be !!
Just finished a 12hr shift. This upload is a blessing in disguise. Many thanks for what you do!
What did he buy ?
That's a great father son moment! I remember mine with my dad and I hope my son remembers his!
Steven King’s “Duel” with Dennis Weaver with psycho semi tanker. Great movie!!
Steven Spielberg not King. King did Maximum Overdrive not Duel.

Wow you're a friggin genius
@@BenJohnson-sf5xl Thank you, but I wouldn’t go that far. Just older than dirt. LOL!
Duel is one of my favorite movies. Its Jaws 1 actually. Dennis Weaver was perfect in it and conveyed the edge of the seat anxiety the whole way through.
Bieri's Black Sheep.... Perfect !
Looking forward to seeing the pond hopping...
“If it worked, was it a bad idea?” Need to put that on the back of a VGG t-shirt! 🤣Get on this Derek!
I'll buy one for sure 😀
We did for awhile!

Great Content Derrek One smart dude you are You Rock!
He's a rare specimen, cherish him ❤
My next door neighbor Frank just met & shot the breeze with Derrick in Wisconsin...he'd confirm your assessment!👍😉
@@Wreck-Gar
You’re right!
Take care.
You need a life
VGG closing in on 2 million subs!....I've been here since 50,000 or so subs....Love it! Great content.....actually...the best! Thanks big D!
Same here. Zip ties sent me this way. And my son can watch Derek with me, Ol Peg not so much. God love him.
1971 'Duel" with Dennis Weaver, this was Steve Spielberg's thesis Film... I use to come home from school and it was always on and I always watched! lol
Great Moive!!
Great movie! Now I need to watch it again!
I knew instantly of what movie he was talking about lol
A guy has made one observation, The shows keep getting better & better…
❤VGG
The best part of having friday nights off again is not having to wait until saturday to watch the new vice grip garage videos. Thank you mister Derek, Sir
Axel gear ratios are 6.72.
Rockwell Offroad sells the new boots you need for the axles along with the bearings and other parts
Derek, always making the impossible, possible, all on his own. Incredible!
So I guess the camera at 1:18:00 was just magically floating along on its own? 🤦♂
@@LostInPhilly89 yep he has Jedi mind powers .....

I will be watching this project closely.
the Dulcich and the Freiburger are awesome
Man Derek is painting me a Birmingham with all these great videos he's just a swinging out here lately. I wanna see this really done up.
Good on ya!
The sweet symphony of a Mopar starter. It's the melody of the angels. 😇
My big Olds motor sounds like an Old Mopar with the high-torque aftermarket starter in it.
Reminds me of my high-school days bombing around in the various slant six, 318, and 360 Mopar beaters that I drove around in.
In the 80’s/90’s, those 413’s were still great mopar big blocks. They were respected for a reason.
Jims automotive machine shop built one into a 483 stroker for Scanner Danner. Their both on youtube
In a 1959 Chrysler New Yorker, 413 was a great engine too. Easily beat those little Tri-five Thunderbirds, & could cruise 125MPH on the interstate with ease. Ask me how I know!

Man oh man, has it been that long ago when you're in that little garage, neighbors wondering what heck is going on, "flip phone" recording!!! God Bless ya son.... you deserve the accolades you and the family have earned them!!!
Love watching a guy do revivals. We need to get him to 2M subs ASAP. Am probably the only African subscriber you have😂
You and Elon Musk
Someone say Africa?? Present
10:00 MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE!!!
Your casual reaction to the red Wasper devils amazes me.
Absolutely no reaction to the hornets nest by the gas cap.
Derek is the Bob Ross of car revivals.
you r soo right
Yeah most definitely Derek IS the Bob Ross of old car revival s. He's just got a knack for it. One thing's for sure,he's very patient. Keep up the great work ethic 👍👍💪💯
National treasures both of them. Well B. Ross for sure. Derek has some generations to aquire
Was waiting for the can of brake cleaner, "Deleting, deleting, deleting..."
Yup. East Tenn here, and wasn't allergic to em, til I cleaned my fence line and got hit bout twenty times....
"I wanted something built out of grit, passion, and hard work that has history, and that's the black sheep, TO a TEE." Speaking to many with this Mr. Universe. LOVE IT 🖤
If my dad were alive, he would really enjoy watching this episode for sure. Thank you, made my day.
YOU BOYS LIKE MONSTER TRUCKS? WOOOOOOOOO
I totally agree with all the praise of Derek and his channel. But it’s not OK to dump oil, gas and coolant in the ground
Why not I do it all the time by my creek
He had a drip can down he's not stupid, a little off but not that stupid
He's in the recycle zone!!!
I'd say it's his land he can do what he wants.
Haven't watched much of your content but I'm excited to see you get it running better with the big tires on it
Now it's a perfect evening
Lol.😅
Always
When he threw the shifter housing out the window I about choked on my coffee🤣
That was so epic...the wife and I cracked up....Derek we love ur style!!!
It was too perfect listening to him struggle.. not being able to see what's happening and then he yeets it out the window without missing a beat... hilarious
I want the first ride derek😊😊😅😅
For crying in the mud!!!

Friday, Derek, and a classic old school monster truck? I’m all in on this!
Very much looking forward to this series, thank you Derek!👍😊
I can't wait to see more on this Monster, figuring out the shift pattern sounds interesting since you think it might just be reversealized. Giving rides at events is an awesome idea.
Would be sweet to see you build a deck out of plywood and 2x4's for working around the engine compartment of the black sheep. Something like a patio to a trailer park custom home. Get your boys to paint up the deck with cars being crushed under the monster truck. Could be a fun little channel 2 VGL video idea!
