Hey Derek, this is a special episode for me. My little boy was born on Sept. 1. I just finished watching this video with him asleep on me, making it his very first VGG episode. My 3 year old already asks to watch “dad’s car show” with me, and she asks questions the whole time. She’s already a little gearhead. Your approach to revivals has helped me in my journey getting my dad’s car back on the road for the first time in 34 years. I’m looking forward to packing the family into the old ‘66 Mustang, and just going to town. Anyways, thanks again for what you do. I appreciate you providing a place where I can spend some good quality time with my little kids, while also seeing some good examples of being a master mechanic and a great dad.
My baby girl and I have our Saturday morning routine where Mama gets to sleep in and we get up and watch the most recent vcg episode. She wakes up and asks "Derek? Derek?"
I've ended up with almost the same situation brother. Started watching Derek when my daughter was about 1 week old, found his channel when I was at home with her asleep on me while my wife was sleeping in. Waking up in the morning or sometimes before bed she asks "can we watch daddy's car show?". She's almost 3 now.
That's awesome! My 6 year old daughter watches with me, has been for a couple years now. I found the channel way back with the Rocky Chevelle and have been hooked since, though my daughter waited a little longer to get involved. She used to call it "silly Derek and the cool cars" but now she just straight up calls it "vice grip garage" all matter of fact like. I have a couple old rigs I'm, um 'restoring', and she loves watching me work and wants to help Dad too so she can be like Derek lol. Keep those memories coming man, they grow WAY too fast
Living in Scotland, the vast majority of these vehicles are only known via movies, also they would probably not fit on most of our roads.. however I truly appreciate all the work and effort you and your family give to us all via the channel.. This a such a warm and enjoyable format I look forward to each and every update. Thank You Clan Bieri !!

Hey VGG big fan here! That Pontiac GTO in the background, also known as the Holden Monaro, was built right here in my home state of South Australia. While I wasn’t the biggest fan of the relaunched Monaro myself, it's unfortunate that many in the US don’t fully appreciate just how iconic the Monaro name truly is! It’s a legendary piece of automotive history.

The guy who built it explaining why it is like it is, and giving heads-up on the things that are/might go wrong with it is awesome. Sometimes when you look at a project, no matter what it is (car, computer program, doghouse, etc.) you see something another fellow did and thing "what in the world?!" but many times they had darn good reasons for doing it that way no matter how odd it looks later. It is really neat to learn those reasons and understand where what you're looking at came from.

A tee or a tee with a 90 in the top of the fuel tank would allow you to still keep the fuel level tube while giving you a spot to put the return. Cool project!
So often your projects are a mystery and a puzzle, scraping what you can of the history out of the trunk and glove compartment. Done many old rope rear main seals in the past. Use a punch, and turn the crank by hand while pushing with the punch. Once it's out the other side enough to get needle nose vice rips on it, pull on the vice grips while continuing to turn the crank by hand. Will come right out every time. 5 minutes max.

Dereck, I feel for ya man. I had done thirty some years of carpentry and construction. As you can imagine, your body gets used up. Well, many surgeries later I’d like to tell you that no one cares. People don’t care how or what about your history. My advice, get those surgeries, do the recovery therapy and keep trying. You will find other ways to accomplish your goals. Good luck!
Feller doesn't know how much I look forward to Fridays! Today marks day number 33 in a row I've worked without a day off! Lol Derek always takes my mind off of life for a lil while! Keep your chin down n your head up... all at the same time!
Just about the time we start thinking how annoyed we are at everyday life...Derek puts out an awesome video. Now everyday life isn't so bad. VGG is what we all need.
Finish watching cleeter's vid about the fiero, pull food from oven, sit down and there is a 2 hour feature length film waiting for me.... life is good :)
It was a great lesson. Got bit by the era design suited for points ignition: when cranking, "run" gets disconnected on most 1971 rides. Only the starter solenoid and motor get 12v, and a return [R] post off the starter backfeeds the ignition coil primary directly without the ballast resistor. So... any backfeed going back inside the cab is now going through the ballast resistor, and no computer is happy there. Lets say the high load of cranking pulls 12v down to 10v. That's fine for the starter motor, but after going through the ballast resistor, maybe that's 8.5v in the cab. Problem? Typical zener diode rating in a power supply is for 9.8v and a computer likely has an undervoltage problem that stops the show.
Do yourself a favor, When you have to work outside on the gravel drive way. get yourself a large cardboard box to spread out under your truck. Something like the size of a dryer box. Or even a piece of old carpet. Then if you drop something it won't disappear into the gravel. also cardboard is easier on your knees. But, what i do is buy moving blankets from harbor freight, the medium seize, ones, they work best. and you can keep them in your trunk, for on the side of the road repairs. Mine have been through many oil changes, and still look like new. Just shake them off and fold them, toss them back in the trunk. or you can roll them up and put wire ties around the to take up less room. if you ruin it your only out ten bucks. throw it away and get you a new one. lot softer on old bones. even works on cold concrete, in the winter inside your garage. I used to go to Lowe's and get my dryer boxes for free, they just throw them in the cardboard crusher. You open it up and you can pull an engine and trans, and catch all the mess. reaches from the front of the car to the middle. on my truck the box fits perfectly, between the wheels. when your done drag it outside and burn it. and your garage floor is still clean.
If you use a corkscrew seal puller and turn the engine over with a ratchet at front you can pull that seal right out. When I used to mud race we didn’t use transfer cases we used chain drive because transfer case couldn’t handle 2400 hp using paddle tires but chain could

My most obscure one to share is the TRUE definition of a 'Wobble Pop". You can learn it too while Derek repaired a car at Krang's garage (Likely fun for his brother Craig that doesn't talk much) in West central NoDak. Derek explained that you open a soda pop (usually a cola) and take a big swig. Then replace that empty volume with Wild Turkey...or w/e cheap whiskey you got. I have not heard it defined every again.
Awesome turnout in Dunnville last night. That was super cool. While I did not want to smother you like some did at first, I chose to give you your space, I had a chance to holler at a feller while he took a break from signing autographs. Asked him how his knee was, I noticed it might have been a scooch tender. Poor old boy just acknowledged in my direction HEY! that someone said his name, and went right back to signing autographs. I can only imagine how cooked he was at that point from talking to people for the past two hours. I smiled to myself :) all good. Didn’t get to meet him in person, because he is really dedicated to the people. Hope to have the chance again some day Derek! Maybe then i’ll have a chance of getting my 84 Supra in front of you again :). Ps, this boy is slimmer in person than the camera’s have ya think! Hope you enjoyed Canadaiuhh!
Derek really had his hands full getting this Black Sheep monster truck upgraded and running. Lots of work went into replacing that rear seal and Donnie did an awesome job. This baby should run much better and does now!
Thanks for visiting us up here in Dunnville ON Canada.!!! What an incredible honour to have you here. Hope to bring my little guys for a ride in the Black Sheep one day.!!!
My pertronix Ignitor had the same issue with low volts during cranking shutting the hall effect sensor down. I did the same thing (Well, using the relay) and I got the volts quite a bit higher (Measured at the coil since that's where I pick up the positive 12v's from the relay I put in). In my case, it is an old ford gas tractor though, and I think the starter is getting tired. But I'm also rewiring the key because when I hooked up the lone wolf 2000 and completely bypassed the key, it started a lot better. A feller's learning a few things from Dr. Derek!
It's not Officially Friday until Derek posts a new video. Now sit back and crack open a couple (or a few) Cold Snacks (in my case 12 wth a 2 hour video), and enjoy!
Those are very produced and fast. I hope you agree that this 'long format' is much more entertaining. No cameraman, no script, no producers to appease. Just Derek and his internal dialog shared openly.
Thanks for the new video. I have a suggestion for working on the Monster truck. Put hinges & cables on the bumper and have it drop down like a Tailgate. All you'd need is some type of sheet and you can use the brushguard as a stand to work from.
Good luck with the Holley fuel pump. I have has nothing but failure from Holley fuel pumps. For Snipper new pump failed at 50 miles, warranty replacement lasted 100 miles, I replaced it with a Walbro no problems since. Next application is a in tank Holley pump. Lasted 25 miles. Skipped the warranty and went with another Walbro. Will never use another Holley fuel pump as long as I live.
Your videos are awesome and your a true hero. Makes me feel better knowin your out there just being you. The solder connectors do fail, south main auto just talked about having multiple come backs and stopped using them permanently. And for my last word a clip from one of the best country songs ever wrote (even tho it doesnt say anything about trains or momma or gettin drunk).....I drive me a big ol' semi truck I'm makin' payments on a two room shack My wife she waits on tables And at night she rubs my back....im the black sheep of the family....thank again Derek you make my day just a little bit brighter

A feller has a welding hood that stays up when he lifts it! I don't believe it!! Guess I got too, I'm lookin right at it
Dereck, I feel for ya man. Good luck!

doctors do not care one iota what you’ve put yourself through to provide a service to others in the community. absolute fact.
Bin 36 years framing, spent 8 hrs bent over an 84 Grand National on Saturday, couldn't move on Sunday. Lol
I agree. 24 years as a carpenter and my body is fucked.
I’m right there too. I was an automotive and diesel mechanic for 20 years and now I’m getting my third spinal fusion on Thursday.
Just what a guy ordered, a new VGG video
Exactly. My Friday afternoon is complete.
A magnetic tray/dish is your friend when working with small hardware. Also, if those are dropped, a mag-rake.
Feller doesn't know how much I look forward to Fridays! Today marks day number 33 in a row I've worked without a day off! Lol Derek always takes my mind off of life for a lil while! Keep your chin down n your head up... all at the same time!
Love the monster truck content. Hoping you’ll go through this whole truck sometime soon!
Just about the time we start thinking how annoyed we are at everyday life...Derek puts out an awesome video. Now everyday life isn't so bad. VGG is what we all need.
Finish watching cleeter's vid about the fiero, pull food from oven, sit down and there is a 2 hour feature length film waiting for me.... life is good :)
the globalists want you entertained , lazy and ignorant.
Then I watch Little Grip Garage with Bentley!
Even when a guy's having a bad day he can watch one of your videos and it'll cheer him up quickly! VGG is the only way to go. Thanks Derek!
Great tutorial on efi conversion! Glitch tracing a big extra--clear and easy to follow the cause trace and fix!
What a great way to end a week. I actually find it hard to have to wait a week for another video 😊. Always watching reruns.. 😂
Me too lol 😂😂
I'm heading off to boot camp soon gonna look forward on catching up on everything I missed
Thanks for doing something not many people have the internal fortitude to do these days.
If you use a corkscrew seal puller and turn the engine over with a ratchet at front you can pull that seal right out. When I used to mud race we didn’t use transfer cases we used chain drive because transfer case couldn’t handle 2400 hp using paddle tires but chain could
Man, I put a holly efi on my square body and it straight up woke my ole 350 UP. so I decided to put one on my 85 K5 blazer. Everyone makes fun of me for not ls swapping it but but man the holly's are so easy and work so good.
Am I the only one that watches repeats of VGG all week just to get me through till Friday???
“I came running out with 2 cold snacks and a shovel ready to fight fires” 😂😂😂😂
A 2 hour VGG on a Friday night...priceless.
Can't wait for next season. Would love to come up and see the shop!!!!
So excited to see this thing keep coming together!
I think Derek needs to come up with his own dictionary.I would definitely buy one.Great lingo
And it keeps growing! I get a new 'Derekism' every episode.
'happy wire' and 'sad wire' are my new official names for positive and negative
Have a great week Derek.
Where is everyone watching the VGG from ? Naples FL, here🎉 Thanks Derrick.
Northern Sweden here. 🇸🇪

Gasoila is awesome stuff. Used to be a gse mechanic and we used it for connections on jet fuel trucks. Never had a leak.
Sorry to here about your injurie woes big guy, must go with the territory Darren Mustie1 had back surgery too.
And a beautiful wife and three fine boys. He's A busy feller
Derek!
At 52:37 your music choice is fantastic!!
It's not Officially Friday until Derek posts a new video.
Now sit back and crack open a couple (or a few) Cold Snacks (in my case 12 wth a 2 hour video), and enjoy!
I just budget my Fridays for the beer and time. It's just gonna happen...why fight it?
My case has 24. I would go back to the market and complain
Came here from Roadworthy Rescues. Glad there's this channel!
Welcome aboard!
Those are very produced and fast. I hope you agree that this 'long format' is much more entertaining. No cameraman, no script, no producers to appease. Just Derek and his internal dialog shared openly.
Can't wait to see the Canadian episode!
George Jones’s song “It’s Finally Friday” needs a lyrics edit to include Vise Grip Garage I think!! My favorite Friday song
George is my favorite. Seen him in concert 6 times. May he RIP.
A guy just got his "bring the thunder" lanyard in the mail!
Awesome ty!
A Sasquatch needs a monster truck! Love these Friday videos!
Big Hairy Smelly Thing? You mean Squaw Snatch
Your videos are awesome and your a true hero. Makes me feel better knowin your out there just being you. The solder connectors do fail, south main auto just talked about having multiple come backs and stopped using them permanently. And for my last word a clip from one of the best country songs ever wrote (even tho it doesnt say anything about trains or momma or gettin drunk).....I drive me a big ol' semi truck
I'm makin' payments on a two room shack
My wife she waits on tables
And at night she rubs my back....im the black sheep of the family....thank again Derek you make my day just a little bit brighter
VGG a guy would do well with a couple those 2x2 puzzle pieces for the ground, changed my life, easy to have handy light sponge material.
Once I started watching this video,I could not stop watching. I was rooting for you to get this figured out.
Hey Derek can you stop calling the Rochester Quadrajet the quadrabog. We live in Rochester New York where the darn things were made and they're a fantastic fuel makenhappener we just can't be responsible for those who don't know how to tune one! Proud Quadrajet owner!
If it makes you feel any better, I call it the "Rottenchester Quadrapuke"
All the Aussies doing the Leonardo DiCaprio pointing meme at Donny's Monaro in the background.
He's got the whole place to park it. He wanted in the shot tho so we would comment
Same here haha
Hey feller, just dropping a note...excited for more of you on the Trend of Motor but we are very very thankful you still put up so much great content here. Also for us fellers with the big ole heads...any new XXL to XXXL fitted hats coming on the line soon? Those grey VGG hats are prime going to town gear for a fella.
the Last Sniper EFI I did was on a 66 F100, we had that same issue.. so what I did was give the Distributor a Keyed Power Wire it worked that way.. Definitely love the Snipers they are amazing and Very easy to do. I have worked on a 65 F100 and a 66 F100 both got snipers, and power steering. the 66 got the Electric AC system as well. great work on the Black Sheep.
The truck deserves stacks.
I agree 💯
I think if he wants to carry passengers, it might not work well with em. But stacks would look cool, maybe he could captains choice em with electric cut outs
@@kbar150 I forgot about the passengers, the best exhaust would be to run it out the back end.
Just what i was thinking.
Passengers are going to get a headache.
ok? Truck starts at 2:00:32
lol I was about comment the exact same thing
@@MR.E963 lol
I just watched a 2 hour video for it to not even move…. Wow these videos are getting too long
Take this for what it's worth.Injured my back when I was 18 50 years ago no operations and keep your weight down good luck God Bless you and yours 😮🇺🇲😁👀🐊🦩🐢
A Monaro in the background, nice. Cheers from Australia.
Thanks for the video! I am consider doing a Sniper kit myself, not on a Monster truck but a 70 Buick GS Stage 1 455 tribute. This was a nice tutorial on what I maybe getting myself into. Thanks again !
You’re the best Derek. Thank you!
Have fun on our side of the border! I can't wait to see what you bring back home from here. I hope the import process goes smoothly!
Your patience shows with your excellent accuracy. Big tack equals big job well done. I look forward to all your projects god, bad, or indifferent!!! Thanks for the lessons!
Hey Derek. I watched the video from Deboss garage of you guys in Dunnville. I'm only about 40 minutes away but wasn't able to make it. Just want to say how awesome it was of you to take the time and walk around and talk to all who made the trip. Totally classy guy. Canada loves you!
WOW Derek. Some nice "ROCK WORK" there. I once had to R&R a 4 speed Toploader on rocks. That is one heavy tranny. (OOPS I mean TRANSMISSION) gotta be careful these days with what a guy says ! Hope ya don't hurt too much after THAT job. That's definitely tough work. Love your channel
I was reminded of a fella when looking over a 1971 Land Rover, the difficulty in describing the smell f vehicles sitting a long time.
Best I can do for a description: a mouldy canvas tent, heavily sprayed by tomcat, undertones of mouse murder, the ammonia level was eye watering.
