I have a landing pad that is reflective and also has a battery pack for lit landing in dark conditions. Would that work with the landing sensors better?
Can you (maybe you have) demonstrate what you mean by professional video. I can't really tell one from the other but I'm no pro and my eye is not the most youthful (yes only one eye).
@@Hotwire_RCTrix A professional video requires a camera with a removable lens and a very large dynamic range. There is a reason movies are not made with these little pocket drones :-)
A good reason as to why I trust Captain Drone’s reviews is because he reviews plenty of drones from basic to professional so his bar is raised high which allows him to be nothing but completely honest about the drone’s limitations and if they are considered good limitations or the company could make changes to better the drone.
I’ve seen many reviews of the mini 3 and have it myself. Your reviews just seem so simple and easy to follow and understand. Being independent you know your getting an objective truthful review. Many thanks
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 The way the drone was following you with active track and turned in the forest feels like it could give the skydio a run for its money. So impressed! I think an important question would be can the DJI mini 3 track an rc car for instance?
I bought the Mini 3 Pro based on your reviews last week. Was so excited to fly it, but then i started seeing all of the bugs. The snapshot camera was okay if you tilted the camera down a little. Straight out the picture was dark. The video was horrible. At the single setting the screen was so bright that you couldn't see anything. At the 48MP setting the picture was very, very dark (during these tests, it was a bright sunny day). Called DJI tech support and they said the camera was defective and they said to send it in for repair. The drone was only 3 days old and I just returned it. I won't be buying another one mostly because I found out that all DJI drones can only track cars and people. Wanted to track my tractor and it wouldn't lock on - so see ya DJI, hello Autel!
One thing I dislike about the Mini 3 is the lack of quick release props. Ok, none of the sub-250g drones have quick release props, but it took me 30mins to change the props on the Mini 3. The screws were so well locked with the locktite, the little screwdriver that comes with the drone would not budge the screws. I had to get extra long pliers to grip the screws and twist them off. Thus I recommend buying a screwdriver with a larger handle for added grip and leverage. Otherwise forget about changing the props in the field.

I’m struggling between this drone the DJI FPS drone as they are both going to run me the same price after I buy extra batteries and such. This one can fly for hours with extra batteries where as the FPS is 20 minutes and 300$ for 2 batteries. Which would you guys choose if you could only have one? Thanks
@@michaelwallen5652 The FPV drone and Mini 3 are two totally different types of flying and experience. What are you wanting to accomplish with a drone?
@@flywithmike8608 I know and I’ve only flown the mini se which I love. I want the pro 3 because all around it’s what I want, long distance arial shots, good video, long battery life. Id like to experience the super impressive stuff like the 6 mile range. The FPS is I guess for mainly flying fast and precise with the goggles. A unique experience. I’m probably getting the pro 3 most likely just so I can utilize the long range with such long battery life. Eventually I will get the FPS just don’t have the funds currently.
This is the review I've been waiting for. Some of those who 've received the drone early have been good, though it's been interesting to see the backtracking after the initial effusiveness. Yours is the review to trust.
Great video, although I would not share all your findings with my thoughts after using the drone for about 30 flights now: How would you use the controller in vertical mode?!?! Don’t underestimate the power of vertical mode for photography!! It might be a gimmick for video, but it’s a gem when you love taking pictures! I was flying in 32°C -> doing a Timelapse, 15min hovering on ONE spot, zero wind… NO overheating! My iPhone 12Pro Max dims very fast, when used with my RC-N1 controller. So it’s theoretical brightness advantage against the DJI-RC with its 700nits Display just brakes away in warm sunny conditions. The DJI-RC is MUCH better than my iPhone 12 Pro Max then!
I got the DJI-RC and it sucks in broad daylight, it gets harder to see with the glare. I’ve been using iPads since I got the original Mavic Pro. Unless someone make a RC Shade Hood then it is not worth it for me.
Excellent comparison, especially the range test. One thing I would add is the smart controller causes issues if you pinch the controls (they assume thumbs) which makes it very easy to hit the menubar and pop up the dji fly app in the middle of the flight. I had to create a cover to prevent that from happening. My thumbs shake especially when I'm nervous. Wish they'd add an extra inch between the display and the controls we pinchers could rest our thumbs on the controller next to the stick. Anyway another great job.
Great review, no other reviewer mentioned the points of over heating. And the fact the rotating the controller will not change the picture. No landing lights, is a minus if you plan flying at night. Thanks Steve
In the early reviews, I watched several that showed how great that controller screen is. You showed what it really is. So once again, dji fails its customers but wins for its stockholders.
Camera focus will come with updates... I don't sit my drone on the ground ever, so overheating waiting hasn't happened, nor while flying... Range I have had no issues, but we have VLOS laws here which means anything over a few hundred feet is moot... Flight time with my 249g batteries has been great... Yes if you try to Hover in a WIND, the life drains quickly... The other day I did a timelapse on a dead wind day and it didn't show any extreme loss of battery life...makes sense if the drone is fighting wind it would lessen life... I have a big battery on its way with my DJI credits... thats mostly for longer timelapses... I was out night flying the other night, and I illuminated my landing area... landing light just added weight not needed... Vertical mode is another thing that can and will be updated eventually...All hey are using is a stripped down android version... it can EASILY have rotate screen... if you swipe down from the top, like on an android phone, it will give you option to BRIGHTEN your screen and other SETTINGS if you hit the Gear Icon... Controller screen is about the same as the phone I was using with my mini2 ... I see no downside... I've been able to see it even in the brightest conditions which is all i care for... No Fly Zones...... these keep me from wandering where I would get fined and in trouble.... this is NOT a downside... I hate when people say it is... do you really want to fly in a airport zone and have the authorities come down on you? Fine you? Ban you from being able to ever own another drone? From ever being able to fly ANYTHING again? This makes no sense to me to call it a downside... Only people who are trying to pull illegal things are complaining of Distance beyond VLOS, and No Fly Zones...
1. Get a silicone cover with screen surround hood if you have the RC (RM330) controller. 2. Put a matte screen protector on (not a clear Tempered Glass one) Less glare and fingerprints which really smear and hide the image in bright light.
For what it is the mini 3 gives your average flyer a lot. Folks are using it for real estate photography without issue. This is a great addition for sure.
i have a small drone youtube channel on drones and captian drones channel got me into drones and inspired me to start my channel. i love how he makes new videos every few days, thank you captian drone!
I normally wouldn't buy another DJi drone due to the geofencing, but I bought this drone for a specific purpose. It does everything I usually could do with my Autel Evo with its small 2"x3.5" screen. The Mini Pro can be launched in a minute and sometimes half that, depending where you are and you don't need to connect it to your phone since it has the nice built-in screen on the remote. I can use it to capture quick professional looking video of 30 seconds to a few minutes in my immediate area, usually no further than 200ft away and I don't need a license to fly it. For distance and power, I defer to Autels larger drones. They're my preference for anything larger.
Bravo... another excellent unbiased review Steve! Love that you mentioned the weaknesses up front. There are so many apologists and fan boy reviewers that don't think we're capable of making intellegent choices, even if everything is not unicorns and rainbows. I had my Mini 3 on order and cancelled it and reordered 3-4 times. DJI kept on pushing back those Canadian deliveries so in the end purchased the Autel Nano Plus from RCGoing and got it to my door in one week! Autel reduced their price and offered their professional package cheaper than I was paying for the Mini 3 with fly more. Now if only Autel would release the active track firmware and offer a waypoint mission planning I'd be a happy camper. Really looking forward to an apples to apples comparison between the Mini 3 and the Nano +. Also would be interesting to see the Mini 3 in action when LOS is interupted (like flying around corners or flying behind a large hill or down a cliff. You do have cliffs there in the capital region don't you? ;)
A few months ago I bought a Mini 2 on your recommendation and could not be Happier!!! BEST DRONE REVIEW CHANNEL on TH-cam hands down!!! Thank You! If I buy the air2s with smart controller would the controller work with the mini? Or is it more of a nuisance to bind back and forth? Idno toss up Mini 3 pro or Air 2s.....decisions decisions.....thanks again
I have the mini three pro and I went to change the propellers and the screws would not fit. The screws for the mini three are a different size. Controller with the built in screen is worth the extra money.
Lots of people who own the mini 2, 3 or 4 all have difficulty replacing props due to stripping screw heads and indicating they don’t go in or come out. The fix is to have a particular screw driver which can be extremely annoying.
Steve, excellent and very fair review. This is the first review that I have seen that is telling it like it is. Unfortunately so many of the reviewer‘s on TH-cam are very very pro DJI’s. A lot of my questions were answered in this part 1.The active track is impressive no doubt. I look forward to your part 2. After all it is not a professional drone.
Capt Drone!!! Your reviews are always so good and entertaining. Yours is one I trust online. Thaks for all the hard work not to mention the umteen cameras you set up so we get a GOOD view of what you are trying to present. I have the Mini 2 setup from a few yeara ago. It was so eay to fly and I really liked it except for one thing. Not being able to see the screen on my Android phone when the sun was out. I really was hoping the new DJI remore would let me add the Mini 2 to it but I guess that is not the case. I was thinking of buying the Mini 3 Pro a while back but hesitated. I got an email this week from DJI and was getting ready to pull the trigger when I said I need to find out what Cpat Drone said about it only to find I had watched your video a while back but forgot I did. When you showed the new remote in sunlight and the screen was black convinced me to take a pass on the buying the new setup. Guess I will wait until they improve the screen on the remote before I buy it. Thanks.
I agree with you even the DJI mini 2, Hubsan Zino mini Fimi and a bunch of other 250g drones do just fine in the wind. Usually when I complain about drones that cannot handle the wind they are cheap 50 dollar drones or coaxial helicopters or micro planes that say designed for indoor use on the box. The DJI mini 3 pro seems to handle the wind like a champ in you video.
Thank you. I’ve been sitting here waiting to see your review, as a fellow Canadian I wait for your reviews first before I do anything. Now to watch it ………🤙🏻🇨🇦
Very good review, answered a lot of my questions. Love the active track is awesome I see and that was one thing I was needing. I can’t remember if the Mini 2 had active track I’ll have to look back at your reviews. I still have my Mini and with all that’s gone on in this country and being a single full time disabled father I have to spend carefully. So I respect your reviews so I know what I’m getting. Thank you again for the honest reviews

Hi Steve, Great Video as always and thanks for answering some questions, but now there is a new question with regards to overheating, where I live in sunny Seychelles, we are a tropical island nation, sometimes during the NW Monsoon the temperatures can reach 30°+ sometimes on a very hot day could be around 33 max, so my question is, Did DJI include which operating temperatures can the drone operate at before overheating and if you are unfortunate how long u need to be air born before the drone overheats and there is the question of how long does it take to authorise flight in NFZ, I do get that problem here at home as my location is not that far from the main airport, But the NFZ can be unlocked as long I obey my civil aviation authorities drone rules, which severely limits my flight altitude, but the property is decent enough and as long as I stay on our property its fine. I think if I want to buy a small drone, the Autel Nano would be better for me
So for overheating in flight in hot climates, would only occur if the drone was hot before takeoff… that means, keep it in the shade before you power it on and fly. Also Sport Mode can cause overheating in hot climates. The drone will not fall from the sky but will warn you to return home. NFZ unlock is done via filing out a form online.
1st your Mic setup in that wind is very good..... But one thing I have not seen is someone take a 40Mb shot in RAW and see how bad/good the artifacts are when you zoom in on LightRoom. It is one thing that has ruined some of my Mini 2 shots.
I have the Mini 2 and I think it is all I need...I don't think the mini 3 has enough features or upgrades to make up for the price difference to buy it... But I think the mini 3 is a great drone...but I guess I'm just saying that DJI did such a good job on the mini2 that they've made it hard on themselves to make a better one...no disrespect to any mini 3 owners...but I love my Mini 2...happy droning...my droning family
Thank you Captain, you just sold me. That’s just the size and features I need to follow me and my overland rig on the back wooded trails. I just didn’t us a drone enough to justify the Skydio, plus I wanted a controller to do scene shots of camp and nature. I love my Gen 1 Mini and this new one is just the ticket.
i got mine Friday! i was on vaca with my mavic mini which came REAL close to death :) Filming the ocean in N California it was windy! and it wasn't coming baaaack. I remembered too late you want it in SPORTS mode comin back - it was in cinema :( So it ran outa juice, came down, riiight over the highway guardrail. I looked for it all along the highway. Finally remembered the "find my drone" thing. Got right to it, but nothing there! Then i spotted it perched ON TOP of the guard rail - a foot had snagged one side and it landed perfectly ON TOP the guard rail. Whew !!!!! Is there somethin cool i can do with 2 drones? Or should I just sell off this trusty lil warrior? That obstacle avoidance stuff looked GREAT :)
The best review I have ever seen. I like every single second in it, especially obstacle avoidance part. Thanks so much Steve for this great video, you have done lots of efforts and time to bring this wonderful review for us. ❤️

Excellent review. The observed negatives are very helpful and go beyond the hype. Tempted to buy the Mini 3. Sizer, lower noise, camera and track automation are big purchase points for me.
Boy, that was an "epic" intro you did on this drone. I dug it. But I also love when you show up because your so "user-friendly" as a person and interviewer. I'm also impressed that you are professional enough to use a dead cat cover on your lavalier mike. They work so good in the wind, I wish all the other interviewers would use them too. Hint! Hint! I really like this drone. You're right about the object sensors. It worked great in the forest, and you could even see the screen in there. There's a lot of bang for the buck on this little guy. I'd love to get one, but I'm trying to be a "good boy" and wait a while since I already have 5 other nice drones. Marc T.
Excellent video, I bought my DJI Mini 3 Pro when the first came out Love this little thing. They worked out a lot of bugs through updates. But not being able to see the RC screen on some days is my only major problem. i'm sure getting older doesn't help 😂
I would love to buy this but can't afford to pay the amount that I would have to. Do you have any other recommendations of mini drones that have obstacle avoidance?
When you touch the screen to tell the auto lighting to adjust for a specific area, it also auto-focuses on that area. That should help with the drone auto-focusing on the background rather than on you when standing in the foreground. When you select yourself it should keep the auto focus on you. Just touch the screen for a second and a yellow marker will pop up where you then can slide for brightness ajdust. But also it will auto focus on that area as well as keeping the focus tracked on you.
Yup, that is unfortunate and is the way DJI drones have been all the way back to the MAVIC Pro. That is very amateurish in photography. What I was talking about is that the drone is not smart enough to focus on the “closer” subject.
Take a look at the way the Nano + with its' dual (or hybrid) autofocus, does real "phase detection" (PDAF) and "contrast detection (CDAF) which is truly automatic, really fast, works well with moving objects and does not require user intervention by highlighting the person or area on the screen. Captain Drone shows this on his original review of the Nano + (see around the 3:25min mark of that video). I've noticed on a number of Mini 3 (which probably uses the slower contrast detection only) reviews, and how out of focus videos are when transitioning from short range to infinity without intervention. To me this is a huge issue. The dual autofocus feature of the Nano should be talked about more imho and a key differentiator between the two drones.
I am inspired by watching your videos. It's been 3 days I bought the mini 3 pro. It is my first drone. Only problem is I can't takeoff my drone where I live because of a small airport close by. I need to request DJI to get it unlocked every time even If I want to fly it indoor.
Great review! Nice to see one that is non-biased and fair review! I have one and love it so far but, then again, not much to NOT love (except the hard to see RC screen in daylight)!! Thanks!
Well DJI is breathing a sigh of relief now that the Captain has given his approval of the mini 3! DJI send the Captain the extended batteries for the mini 3 for testing, the least you can do. You know DJI reads all the comments.🤔 As always nice job on the review Captain.
I believe it had to do with marketing and country weight regulations. The Spark had great features but to make an under 250 unit they had to remove features, so they couldn’t call it the spark 2. Marketing advised them to call it a MAVIC.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for this great review. You give great information and make it fun and interesting. I especially appreciate the direct comment concerning the brightness of the RC controller. I was hoping that the controller would provide clear view in bright sun. This weakness will keep me from buying the Mini 3. I will continue to fly my Mini 2 and use the RC N1 controller with the hood on my iPhone/controller in bright sun-works very well. Cheers from Wisconsin, bud.
The best reviews are made by you. The intro is also done cool. I had thought you would make no statement about the Mini 3. You seem to really like her. You will probably use them more often than the Air 2s or the Mavic 3. Or do you think that maybe the Nano plus is better?
I plan to compare it to the Mini 2 in episode 3, and against the Nano+ in episode 4. Keep in mine that I fly every consumer drone (that is good), on the planet, both camera GPS drones and Advanced level FPV drones, as well as RC Helicopters and RC Planes. This makes me Numb to any brand loyalty.
Good job Captain... your editing and storyboarding skills are great. The heat from that processor is concerning. I wonder how many hot/cold cycles the chip can take before the substrate cracks... Active track trace is impressive. Good job DJI.
One negative I haven’t seen anyone else mention is how slow and laggy the screen is on the controller. The overheating was annoying as heck when I bought it and updated it also. But generally happy with it overall.
Good video again, when you were doing the static wind test I’m sure the area immediately under the drone was wavy like mirage if so that’s a lot of heat coming from the drone.😳
Hey Captain, just a thought!; perhaps the Spark retrospective could be in the context of where the DJI "Mini Drone" actually started compared to where its at today !
From down under and and want to say you are so engaging your videos are great to watch! Sadly my Mini 3 Pro crashed in my garden after signal loss and the front right arm ripped from the body. Waiting for DJI Support to investigate. Looking forward to my new replacement. And once bitten twice shy. Won’t let it out of my line of sight this time when meandering through our large garden of 3 acres.
Another good review Capt. Still have a very flyable Mini2 with over 1 yr of DJI Care on it, so no buy soon. Love the way the little frog 🐸 takes a certain attitude in flight. Love your content. Keep flying!!
I had nothing turned off. It is up to the pilot to always be aware of where the drone is in relation to objects. Which in simple terms means, don't try the active track around other people as it may follow you and may not avoid them.
Thank you for your review you did a great job!!! I was actually considering on buying this but there's a few things I don't like about it after watching your video and I think I'm going to look into the eveo you can find some of your videos on that and compare them. Again thank you have a great day
Excellent, detailed review! 👏👏👍 You tell it like it is, and viewers appreciate it! I would like to see the creative modes tested, and some photo/video comparisons between the the Mini 3 Pro, Mini 2, and the Autel Evo Lite + (or the Air 2s/Mavic 3)👍 Keep up the great work! 🌟
Great review Steve. It's refreshing to get a REAL review rather than a thinly disguised advertisement as seen from some other reviewers. Mine should arrive this week and I'm looking forward to flying it keeping in mind your own observations/failings. Cheers from Tasmania Australia.
I’ve encountered the mini on a Filmset - but as the toy the guys operating the inspire brought with them. :-) But they also used it for scouting and showing the director what’s possible, so like a viewfinder and a device to go more risk than an inspire
This the first time i have ever left a comment but i love your honest opinion about every drone your not a brain washed DJI person keep up the good work from Scotland .
My screen is super bright outside. It's not as bright as my Smart controller but it's definitely very bright. When I first got it it was not turned all the way up by default but once I slid it all the way up it's very bright.
Nice review. This is by far my favorite DJI drone since the first Mavic pro was released. I've sold my Mavic 2 pro and air 2s I'll definitely be keeping this one . Been flying it for 3 weeks now and it's really a great drone .
@@yashawngraham3035 well I'll put it this way the air 2s is a great drone no doubt. The camera is a 1 inch sensor and it can fight wind better but for me the Mini 3 pro does just about everything the air2s does but comes with a sweet controller that makes getting up and running fast and painless and I love that the Mini 3 pro's camera can look up 60 degrees for shots the air2s couldn't get . Either one will make you very happy.
Why can’t I fly around airports? Oh cause DJI says so LoL. I think it’s great to have safety features. I have a feeling the focus will be fixed in a update. I’m not looking into purchasing a drone, but Autel might win me over next purchase
Well done Captain!; it is disappointing that DJI dont support you (and the Channel) "directly" as they do need a balance / spread of objective reviews from highly regarded and experienced Pilots (such as your good self !) ; regardless, the Mini 3 Pro looks like another major advance on the the current platform; I have ordered one here in Australia and will hopefully take delivery later next week; looking forward to part 2 of your review 😊😊
Best review of the Mini 3 Pro I've seen yet. Does the geolock feature inhibit flying even indoors? Does DJI's database of airfields include small public fields, private fields and helipads? Does Autel's EVO NANO geolock?
During active track, could i put the hand held RC in my pocket / backpack? or would you say that’s a BAD idea? I will probably be shooting solo much of the time, and it would be cool to have the image perspective without me holding onto anything. thanks for any advice!!
If you put the controller/phone in your backpack, it would probably no work as once a button is touched everything stops. I would just start the tracking thing and put the controller down, then carry on walking, it will follow you, but you'll have to eventually walk back and get your controller.
Odd, I have no issue with RC brightness. As good if not better than my iPhone 13. And, it doesn’t fade like the iPhone. Other than resolution, the RC screen is a + for me.
Maximum altitude in Canada? I thought for sub 250 it is only recommended by Transport Canada to remain at 400 foot or less. Am I missing a regulation in CARs? I guess you could be called on 900.06 depending on the circumstance. Thoughts?
There are no Canadian “drone” regs. Transport Canada has regulations that all unmanned aircraft of 250 grams or higher must adhere to for the purpose of general safety. Also, a pilot flying a drone of 250 grams or higher must be certified by Transport Canada. Drones under 250 grams fall under the common sense rule.. don’t annoy people & don’t fly near airports.
Cap sorry I haven't been around but been in hospital for last few months and it was a bit of an emergency so didn't get to pack my phone charger was sick before I went in so I'm thinking it may have been around 6 months since I tuned in. I can't believe the 3 pro is out as I was dreaming about getting the Mini 2.lol. I have to let you know I was blown away at how professional your videos are looking you must have gotten new editing software. Bravo again. We've finally gotten some good weather this weekend out here on Vancouver Island, up until now it's been Junuary!lol Keep up the great content and looking forward to part two. I think I'm gonna go back and check out the reviews I missed.
Thank you for the kind words Steve. It's been a tough recovery, we are still getting hit pretty hard out here. I had no idea of all the different ways one could be affected. Memory took about of a beating too but starting to clear out the fog.lol it has been rough on so many levels. Well Canada Day is coming up so hopefully BBQ and go downtown for fireworks.
Love your intro. Thank you for your review. I saw a review, the guy was totally lying or not telling the full truth about that drone. The drone was bad in his review but he stayed the course,so thank you. I have a question. I spent money on a used mavic 3,not full price but a lot. When the seller sold it to me he had bought it from a friend that crashed it the problem with that is the Drone flies great, however I was not aware that he had crashed until after I bought it. One of the sensors has a scratch in the middle of it so it's constantly reading somethings in the way and it want to go around the "object" I called dji they. Said someone tried to open it to reset the gimbal so now there's a Code of 400 21 that will not allow the camera to view everything works great the GPS works and flies great after I turn if off the sensor, however I can't see a video feed. Someone told me needs to be factory reset but DJI has not released a factory reset am I stuck having DJI to pay fix this... The drone look great flies perfect gimbal and camera work but no feed.
When it comes to fixing issues with DJI drones, where hardware is the issue, the only option is to send it in for repairs. Cost is usually under $200 for most repairs & shipping.
I do own it, and yep, I love it. Showing what DJI can do when they don't rush, like they did with Mavic 3- now great, but a terrible release. I have the DJI discontinued WIDE ANGLE LENS. Glad I snapped one up!
Nice to hear a balanced review rather than the early gushing fanboy reviews or the conspiracy reviews from first time flyers. I also have the Mini 3 and recently flew out in your area. I find that if you know the limitations, it’s the most versatile drone I have had so far.
Good day captain, nice review❤, i’ve just got my mini 3 pro, tried to rise up in the air- just once for now, i’m still learning and trying not to damage❤😂 i just love the review you made i’ll watch the part 2, thanks!
3:48 in an odd way that's a positive for me, I like the creative depth of field effect you could potentially get and this is what I was hoping for from this drone. With the limited understanding I have of cameras, I thought that the wide aperture on that little camera might cause this.
Excellent Part 1! I will send a few novice friends to this for a solid, no-frills review. Can we at least add bacon to Part 2 (or 3)? You and I both know that "Pro" requires bacon. Thanks yet again for a great video.

I bought the Mini 3 Pro based on your reviews last week. Was so excited to fly it, but then i started seeing all of the bugs. The snapshot camera was okay if you tilted the camera down a little.

Of the years I've been flying and reviewing I've never seen a more complete drone all around. Buy with confidence, it's worth the money.
@@michaelwallen5652 sounds like you are making the right choice. I fly them all.
I've also owned a mini 3 Pro since release date.
It's the most honest review I've ever seen!
Thanks.
This is the review I've been waiting for. Some of those who 've received the drone early have been good, though it's been interesting to see the backtracking after the initial effusiveness. Yours is the review to trust.
Thank you
You’re 54macdog and I learned a new a new word today! 😃🤝👍
@@bugsy742 My pleasure!
The Captain is always spot on.
Great video, although I would not share all your findings with my thoughts after using the drone for about 30 flights now:
How would you use the controller in vertical mode?!?!
@@luminaire7085 I fly with the ipad 10.4 no problem with dimming.
Ha ha, thank you!
You could get the other controller that works with your phone too.
There are no stock holders..it's a private company. So it doesn't win for stockholders.
BTW, you might want to take off the shades when using the controller in sunlight... You are seeing it dark in sunglasses... quelle surprise...
Thanks for the comments. As for your shades suggestion… perhaps you are unaware that this is not my first Rodeo. :-)

@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thank you!
i bought some fancy oakleys with prizm lenses this week. really helps for flying in bright conditions. seeing the controller and the drone.

Great video Steve, a honest review thanks because we are getting tired of DJI free products youtubers.
Much appreciated
Bravo... another excellent unbiased review Steve! You do have cliffs there in the capital region don't you? ;)
Part 4 will have my mini 3 & nano+ comparison. I recently tested flying the mini 3 around a corner and it did not fair well.
The smart controller is the older one & I think DJI is phasing that out next year.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I saw were the supplied screwdriver was not of the best quality so I bought a better one
Thank you & glad you found the review informative

Thanks.
Hi Captain, awesome video . What microphone were you using and how do you sync it to the drone video?
My gear, such as cameras & mics and the editing software I use, is listed below each video. (everything is snynced).
Ya, I would say that was extreme wind to fly in, good video.
The obstacle avoidance was pretty impressive. I am liking this drone.
Thanks, Steve wondering when you were going to review the Mini 3 pro great review look forward to the next instalments.

Hello Canadian
Like I said from this channel, Steve is the perfect person to show drones review, I’m waiting for that review.
Thank you greatly!
In part 3 I plan to compare the mini 2 and 3 for a purchase decision
Glad all ended happily!

Marc T.
Thank you for your comments. You’ll certainly enjoy the mini 3 (whichever version you get).
Very Good Video. The Active Tracking was pretty impressive. Gotta try it.
Budget drones? I believe only HUBSAN and EXO Drones have that feature
The best way to order it is it directly from DJI store in China? To taxes to pay??
Usually if you order from DJI, you don’t pay customs/duty, but your country may tell DJI to charge you taxes.
Probably best to fly at night in a lower res to gain more light then at 4k. Or shoot 4k at 23.97 if the DJI defaults to 180 degree shutter angle.
Excellent Tutorial Review Video Of The Mini 3 Pro. Thank You Steve.
Thank you
I am inspired by watching your videos. It's been 3 days I bought the mini 3 pro. It is my first drone. Only problem is I can't takeoff my drone where I live because of a small airport close by. I need to request DJI to get it unlocked every time even If I want to fly it indoor.
I got my Mini 3 Pro in yesterday, so far I'm enjoying it.

Can the Active Track penetrate the canopy of the tree tops, like the GPS Follow with Litchi. Like to see that.
Nope. As soon as the image is blocked of the subject being tracked, the tracking stops.

Thank you! Also those larger capacity batteries put the mini 3 over 250 grams, defeating the purpose of a 250 gram drone.

I would like for you to come out with a video on asking why Dji never made a spark 2

Another good review Capt. Still have a very flyable Mini2 with over 1 yr of DJI Care on it, so no buy soon. Love the way the little frog 🐸 takes a certain attitude in flight. Love your content. Keep flying!!
Is that the only screen and controller for the drone. Screen like that is a deal breaker and your hands cover the screen when flying?
Currently Yes. In the future the RC pro should be compatible.
Great Review...when using the follow me....did you have the Sideway flight turned off? I have been affraid to try the walking Trail ..Newbie..

Nice review. This is by far my favorite DJI drone since the first Mavic pro was released. I've sold my Mavic 2 pro and air 2s I'll definitely be keeping this one . Been flying it for 3 weeks now and it's really a great drone .
Hey should I get this one or the air 2s

You’re gonna love your new mini drone!
Best review of the Mini 3 Pro I've seen yet. Does the geolock feature inhibit flying even indoors? Does DJI's database of airfields include small public fields, private fields and helipads? Does Autel's EVO NANO geolock?
Geo lock often has no effect indoors because a drone can’t acquire a gps lock indoors.
Great video thank you. Please give me your opinion about ND filters. Which ones should I buy for this mini 3 pro. I would appreciate an honest opinion
I've used FREEWELL filters for over 10 years on all my drones and cameras with no issue. I'm so used to them that they are always my first pick.

Your review is wonderful, honest and best of all.
Wish flight more combo did you buy?
I purchased the only one that was available from DJI on the May 10th launch date… think it was the basic one.
Great realistic review. I’m pondering buying this as a first timer: suitable for that?
You bet! Excellent first drone.

We've finally gotten some good weather this weekend out here on Vancouver Island, up until now it's been Junuary!lol Keep up the great content and looking forward to part two. I think I'm gonna go back and check out the reviews I missed.
Take care of yourself. Wishing you the best of health moving forward.
That intro music is 🔥
Love your intro.
Ty. I just have to do that… Great vid, keep up the great work
I do own it, and yep, I love it.
Yes, I think most people should be very happy with this drone.
