Hello Bowser, I just discovered your channel after searching for guides on evoker, and I must say: your passion of content creation is impeccable. you definingly sound more up beat and excited than most gameplay self improvement content creators, by that I mean most other YT content creators I've seen in the WoW retail community sound like they just rolled out of bed and turned their microphone on to record a vid. hearing the passion still burning bright in the voice of someone like yourself sure helps out a lot for a person like myself who is trying to get into the game. I started my wow journey as a tank main, but I very quickly got tired of the gameplay loop, and don't get me wrong I still love tanking! its just that I wanted to have another way to support the team and have fun so I started exploring healing specifically as evoker (mostly so I could be a dragon on the internet). I personally don't get frightened by mods and addons because I have to deal with that sort of stuff all the time with open source programs like Blender and Pure Data which are hobbies for me. seeing the topics of addons covered in a video from you was a real treat thank you for your hard work!

Most useful video I've found so far! I'm an "old" Gen X and sometimes get lost when tutorials are going too fast or talking over my head. Everything you said made sense, and I just learned a ton. I've been playing since 2004, but I've finally decided to move into addons/mouseovers/etc to stop being a scrub. Thank you!!!
@pmudri clique allows you to use mouse buttons. Personally I just put my heals on keys and use mouse buttons for dps or aoe spells, but clique solves the issue of blizzard frames eating mouse button clicks. I don't use it
Just wanted to say, I started healing since the new expansion and your guides have been a HUGE help. Seeing you stand in puddles also makes me feel less bad about it, and your explanations about everything are very clear. It's easy to understand, even as someone who never healed before and/or is not too experienced with games like WoW and M+ content. Please keep it up :D

Here is a free lesson in WRIST HEALTH from a Pianist: 16:49 this is more important than most people realize. I have played piano for many years including at university, and they really stressed how bad your wrists and back can get if you do not have proper posture and hand movement. Same applies for keyboards. Your wrist joints should move as little as possible, and be as relaxed as possible. Let your fingers and elbow joint do all the moving. Imagine you have a brace on your wrist, so you cant bend your wrist very much. That's the best way for your wrist health. You will still bend your wrist left and right slightly, but only to get your fingers in place to do the actual pushing. Your wrist should not be moving your fingers up or down, at all. That is entirely your fingers job. And if you use your wrists to press buttons, this puts a tiny bit of strain on your back muscles (from anchoring your arm in place, allowing your wrist to bend down without moving your arm in the wrong direction), over and over and over again. Do this for years, and now you have a bad back, and risk arthritis in your wrist. Your fingers are the most precise thing we have, and are MADE for repetitive movements. Your wrist is made for convenience, and is WEAK. This will also GREATLY help your muscle memory. My professors told me that fingers have a better muscle memory than our wrists, because our fingers are used for more precise things. This is harder to do with your mouse hand, but your mouse hand will not be making those repetitive movements over and over again, like your left hand mashing a spell. Using your finger/thumb to mash a button on your mouse will not harm your wrist (unless your wrist is tight all the time). The thing to remember with your mouse hand is to keep your wrist loose, and use your wrist as little as possible. You will need your wrist for fine adjustments on your mouse hand, but this isnt a repetitive movement, over and over again, over the course of years (like mashing a button on a keyboard is). It is okay to use your wrists in non repetitive ways, just don't use your wrist joint to apply pressure (like pressing a button) because this translates to stress on your wrist and back.

I could never get used to mouseover, but back when I tried it; it required custom macros. It's easier now I believe, but I've learned to heal with Clique. I use my left hand pinkie for CTRL and SHIFT for modifiers, my targeted heals are then on my left, right, middle, button 4 and button 5 on my mouse.
For healing I use Healbot. It puts a semi-transparent frame on your screen(which you can move) that displays your party(including pets or your current target if it isn’t a party member. It’s basically like using mouse-over casting where depending on what button combination you press with your mouse it’ll cast a different spell(which you can program). For example on my resto shaman if I press the left mouse button on someone it’ll cast healing wave. But if I hold down shift than left click it’ll cast riptide. Fairly handy if you’re using a regular mouse that only has the left, right, and middle buttons.
I’ve been watching your content a lot lately as I’ve been getting back into WoW and healing (it’s been since WotLK. 2009 prob.). Finding out that you’re also autistic is really cool. Keep up the great content.
Here's where many players, especially healers, get it wrong. Your eyes naturally rest a bit down and to the right from the center-what's often called the golden ratio. This is where your eyes instinctively go, especially when you're tired. A lot of players clutter this spot with unnecessary information (like damage meters) or put crucial info in the worst possible place: the left side. Having health bars on the left is 100% unnatural for your eyes! The left side should be used for less critical stuff, like the quest window. That's my advice, at least. Putting health bars in the middle but down is also not great. It pulls you away from the action, causing tunnel vision. The best spot for health bars is in the golden ratio zone. It's where your eyes naturally glance all the time-relaxed, always in your peripheral vision. This placement keeps you engaged without tunnel vision or distraction. The center and golden ratio zone work like ping-pong for your eyes, moving naturally between them without you even noticing. Try it out and see how it improves your UI setup. And seriously, get rid of that damage meter on the left side.
thanks for the awesome vid. i use Cell as replacement to default frame because it ships with current season's m+/raid's debuff/spell, and easy to create indicator with
just a heads up for Redragon: i bought everything i have from them; headphones, keyboards, pc case, mouse, mousepad, you name it. my biggest problem with them is the keyboard, Outemu switches just break way too easily and they know that since some replacement switches are packaged in with the keyboard. Also, my first mouse from them started double clicking 1.5y into its lifetime, i bought a new mouse from them with laser activation on clicks and... the M3 (that is mechanical) started double clicking 6 months in. Overall i'm decently satisfied considering the price, still using the keyboard even after 4 years, i'm fine with replacing some switches here and there. i'm buying my next mouse from logitech tho

You asked for comments about accessibility issues... Not what most people would consider accessibility, but I "suffer" from being both left-handed and small-handed! I have fewer keyboard keys within easy reach, and the extra buttons on chonky gaming mice are unreachable as well. I'd love to see some workarounds for these issues!
that is a sexy clean UI i like it. i am using elvui atm and seeing any type of HoT or other buffs is impossible other than a box with at timer which is sloppy so looking to go back to default
I'm really curious how you know what to dispel. I know that a lot of healers use custom party frames and the party frames are indicate dispelable debuffs for your class and talents. Do you memorize everything you can dispel?
Memorizing would seem really difficult. My bars change colors depending on what kind of debuff is on teh player. Magic = Blue, Curse = Dark Purple etc and my weak aura is set up to give me an audible sound when some one in my group is affected by some thing. So lets say they get a magic debuff, there bar would turn BLUE and I would hear MAGIC in my headset. So you know if you can dispell magic then its easy to see.

I went from VuhDo to the out of the box clickcasting options they added in SL. Are there thigns that Clique offers that the base option doesn't? I used clique for classic but found it to be essentially the same thing as the click casting option they added to retail but I haven't used it in retail either. Note for clarity: "click casting" is the name they use for the setting and is essentially mouseover casting but sepcifcally for frames; not to be confused with clicking abilites or clicking a frame then a button input
@@winnwriter sorry, but I cant answer that. I never tried the new retail UI cause I am used to my ElvUi setup with auras, debuff, hots and so on. What I can say is that you can mouseover cast every ability on your partyframes. And you can also setup bindings to mousover use items on the unitframes, like trinkets or the engineer battlerez. Like this I can have all my keys bound twice. For example I have my Blackoutkick on key 2 and also my Vivify on 2 when I mouseover my partyframe for healing a teammember. Hope that helps. ive just picked up preservation evoker, will be first time healer for me so ur videos have been quite helpful and im running your recommended ui setup and addons/weakauras. However the issue im running into in dungeons is i can tell when a party member has a dispellable on them but the its so small i cannot tell whether its a magic debuff or curse etc to know whether to use regular dispel or cauterizing flame. Anything u can recommend me to make it more obvious?

I use regular frames, click frames with one of my keybinds to heal, only keybinds are 123456qwerty. Everything else is clicked. I move with my mouse. And I do 25s with a couple 26s. Good enough for me

So I mentioned my resolution and monitor size. Scaling and those factors will really change how it looks. But they are just default ui stuff, so play around with the scaling in the graphics and UI setting, see if you can get it wider!
Okay I've been trying to figure out how he does his FRIENDLY nameplates in dungeons. Does anyone know how he sets them up? I do use ElvUI and Plater and since wow disables friendly nameplate addons, neither of these can customize the look in the dungeon. And I've tried default options and I can't get my friendly nameplates to look like his with a long healthbar, simple name, and even cast bar... Any one have any ideas/help? This would make pres evoker a bit more playable in my opinion so I can see my party members and hit some of the spells easier. Thanks!
As long as you stop calling me he, because I use they/them lol. But in edit mode you're looking for "raid style party frames". Click on your party frames in edit more, its the top box. Makes life a bunch easier.

Raid frames seem nice and good to use, but they always feel really impersonal to me since I'm not being able to see portraits. Maybe I'm just weird though lol
my bestie uses one, they are amazing if you like them! But I prefer my FPS mice because I play a lot of those in my free time (controller and KBM for dif games). So mine was to work with what I had. Phone mice are goated

I am using clique for healing and it works amazing with my party frames. Super seamless and probably my favorite addon

So I have a razer mouse, which is amazing but the software is horrible. But it does let me re-map buttons!

Okay I found out how to, but how do you like that? Yiou use your pinky for the cntrl button and you fingerf for the 1? My hands can"t do that xD
I say it in the video but my mouse has control and shift bound to mouse 4 and 5. So I don’t need to hurt my pinky lol. Saved my buns!

Fixing this today! Doing it on stream and fixing them here, ill note in the description next to the past bins thats I've fixed them
How are your party frames so wide mine are on max and aint anywhere near that width
So I mentioned my resolution and monitor size. Scaling and those factors will really change how it looks. But they are just default ui stuff, so play around with the scaling in the graphics and UI setting, see if you can get it wider!

Okay I've been trying to figure out how he does his FRIENDLY nameplates in dungeons. Does anyone know how he sets them up? I do use ElvUI and Plater and since wow disables friendly nameplate addons, neither of these can customize the look in the dungeon. And I've tried default options and I can't get my friendly nameplates to look like his with a long healthbar, simple name, and even cast bar... Any one have any ideas/help? This would make pres evoker a bit more playable in my opinion so I can see my party members and hit some of the spells easier. Thanks!
As long as you stop calling me he, because I use they/them lol. But in edit mode you're looking for "raid style party frames". Click on your party frames in edit more, its the top box. Makes life a bunch easier.

Raid frames seem nice and good to use, but they always feel really impersonal to me since I'm not being able to see portraits. Maybe I'm just weird though lol
Is the mouse over thing he is using a setting or an addon?
Never mind, I found it in the settings 😅
They if you don't mind, and yeah just defaults lol. Remember you can program specific mouseovers with /m if you prefer!

my bestie uses one, they are amazing if you like them! But I prefer my FPS mice because I play a lot of those in my free time (controller and KBM for dif games). So mine was to work with what I had. Phone mice are goated
