why are you saying this is clearly better than hero rotation? I didnt get it from the video apart from the next 3 buttons, which imho is confusing if those next buttons will happen to change
@@seeks6272 Literally not one of them do. You probably saw a scrolling set of abilities on their screen and thought it's Hekili - it's not; it's a WeakAura showing you, the viewer, what they are casting. It is not telling THEM anything.
I like to use it because I'm on the autism spectrum and struggle to memorize certain rotations and what not. I'm wired in a way that what should make sense doesn't quite ''click'' for me. Having a visual aid helps me perform by standards. Sure, some might call it a crutch, but I don't need to be on the top of the chart anyway. It helps me keep up, that's all I need.
@@alperenozgur im in between i need the visual aid to learn the muscle memory and to remind me to keep doing it to get into that patten of memory. after a few thousand times it may get programmed in i just have to keep trying =] Im autistic. adha and dyslexic everyones different
I've been using Hekili for a while. Great addon to help to discover new specs / classes without being a total burden for your group / raid. But you're right, if you wanna really master a spec, Hekili won't help you on its own. But it's a great tool to begin with. Totally worth the try.
i'm curious how it doesn't help you master a spec. especially in priority based dps specs... seems like it would take the guesswork out of stuff.. unless it doesn't track CD's and procs... in that case, your comment makes sense..
@@jamesballerstein4046 Doesn't help you " master " a spec because even if the addon tells you what to do, it's not always " the right " option. For exemple, it tells you that your cd are available, but it won't tell you " WHEN " use it. That's the difference
@@jamesballerstein4046 Im using Hekili on my outlaw. Have 6/9 Mythic clear and have 98% Logs with Hekili on all bosses. 3.3k Rio in m+ and i outdps everyone with it. Im just following rotation from hekili and it pumps.,
@@Na_kahI mean learning when to CD is easier for me than learning when to press an ability 2 times in a row and when to press it 3 times. Even when I learned my rota it didn’t make a major diff and I’d say I’ve dealt less damage.
This add on allows me to play the game. I can’t comprehend what all those spells mean or how to align them. Without it I couldn’t play. I tried for 14 years to play without it but never could because the spells were just too hard to understand. Thank you to the maker
Addons like this are great training tools, for new players, returning players, or players wanting to improve their skills. Not everyone is gifted with the ability to have an efficient rotation without some training.
I fit your post. It's helped a lot not only in getting back to how to play the game, but for learning new classes as well. I would argue that it doesn't give you everything fit the rotation. Also, for those using on players using this, are they using DBM?
Been using Hekili since before Shadowlands was launched and I just love it. The only really negative thing with it is that it is easy to just focus on the icons on the screen and then miss things happening around you. Specially in raids and world bosses. Apart from this it is a brilliant addon, at least for beginners or people learning a new spec.
Yep, this. I've used different addons like this for various expansions, including maxdps back in the day. Funnily enough I've been using Hero Rotation since seeing your last video and using it to hit the top of damage meters ever since, but... you do get super dialed into focusing on that one spot on the screen so it does build bad habits like that. I can say that it has genuinely helped me build muscle memory for my spec so when I don't use the addon, my rotation is less optimal but I can still probably do it with my eyes closed. Gotta min/max though :). ..also, I dip in and out of retail, so having those training wheels is handy after a few months off.
Hekili is a great guide type addon. It is by no means perfect. It makes some strange suggestions at times. It's better for some classes than others. But my DPS went up 30% the first time I used it. So it is definitely helpful especially for the more complicated classes.
I haven't played this game in about 12 years. This addon has caught me up nicely. It is a brilliant tool for someone like myself when so much has changed in WoW since I last played.
I use the addon because it simpifies my interface, rather than looking to see what on/off CD and having to take the item to look at my interface every few seconds.. When you said about using the addon, learning a rotation/getting use to it and disabling it and looking into guides.. I would like people to try that with Deadly Boss Mod.. I use it and i am amazing at my class, just makes things so much easier and more fluent.
If the rotations were not so overly complex we wouldn't need addons like Hekili. But I don't want to spend 100 hours learning the basics of how to play a new class.
I use these types of add-ons as a sanity check - when I am doing my rotation, if I notice it's suggesting something else, I'll look later on and work out *why* it was suggesting something different. Sometimes, I see why and have a good reason I wasn't doing what they suggest - but sometimes they shed light on a mechanic or synergy I was unaware of, and I can incorporate that into my muscle memory.
as someone who watches guides and its just too much to take in all at once, coupled with a low attention span, this is a great option for learning what moves work in different situations without getting bored and giving up on mastering the class. not everyone learns the same way, and not everyone can learn from the long format how to guides that are all but required for the in depth explanations people give.
Been using this everytime I return to wow. As almost always, there are some new abilities ect. Its been great help to help brush up on rusty muscle memory
i used this ad-on cuz i had no idea proper rotations were a thing. i would just spam whatever was available. i think its good for people like me who just need to learn the game completly. i will say staring at 3 icons makes pay attention to the raid pretty difficult. so theres that
Rotation helpers are awesome as long as you don’t solely rely on them blindly. They help teach you the fundamentals but you need to ask why the priority is what it is and when it is what it is. Rotation helpers don’t understand every moment like pull from pull in m+. And sometimes you’ll waste three globals. You need to learn a class and its rotation, all of its resources and utilities.
I use Hekili in a kind of different way. I know my rotation but I have to react to procs and abilities coming off cooldown, meaning I need to look at my action bar. I played like this for a long time and even with the action bar right below the character it's fine but still not ideal. After I discovered Hekili what I do is put only the basic rotation in the helper (just pure resource spenders and generators) and keep cooldowns and utilities in the action bar. This way I am on autopilot for 95% of the time pressing the "boring" buttons and I still decide when to use the big cooldowns and utility. Makes it way easier to concentrate on mechanics.
I have autism and for me this addon a great help for less stress and incentives. I tried for a long time the rotation its to mich for me. So this addon takes it all away
Anything that helps bridge the gap between not having a clue and figured it out is a good thing. it's on the user to take the training wheels off, people need to stop blaming a tool and remember there is no shame in learning.
I use it for some specs, but I'm a casual player and don't care about min/max. The downside with this is it won't tell you the why only what to press. If your going to master your class you need to know why you press a certain button when. If you set it up to do so I will also have you use defensive abilities and your CD's.
Hekili is great, i'm often playing 8-10 alts around 1800 rating in arena solo shuffle, so remembering how they all play is not the easiest, it means I can focus more on the def cooldowns, offensive stuns/interrupts, what the other team is doing and not lose place in what is the current highest priority spells and/or spells off cooldown. If I was playing 2-3 of my best known classes or a healer, I would have no use for it.
Love it. I play casually and play a bunch of different chars mostly solo so this helps brush up or relearn the character. I can see how hard-core people might have a say but get a life.
I have been playing since vanilla and with how many choices and changes there now I find I can't multi class like I used too. This add-on is a greater helper. Some classes I don't use it anymore, but when I wanted to learn sub rogue it was awesome
As a new player to WoW, this addon has been incredibly helpful for learning the basics of various classes while i'm trying to work out what class to "main"
Please don’t stop posting these. I love wow but hate how much I have to focus. I just want to do damage with bright colours and see high dmg numbers. This is an amazing addon. I wouldn’t of discovered this without you. Please post more of this kind of stuff
Great video, I play the warrior/pally/DH which I dominate but suck on other classes that I just leveled, the addon did improved my play on the classes I don't know well or don't play often..by a lot, this was a marked improvement.
Great addon (Hekili) to learn viable rotations. Who ever built this addon spent a lot of time learning different specs, spells / abilities and scenarios in which to use what spell. There are a few things to improve but for the biggest part it's really customizable. It is designed with max DPS in mind but it is not cut in stone. It allows for the unforeseen when you have to cast something that breaks your rotation then it calculates the best options to stear you back to your rotation without crashing your DPS, so it's more than just a learning tool it is in fact a helper. One of the improvements I'd suggest is the ability to tell it which spells to NOT SUGGEST, meaning that it reads your keys 1 through = and TRINKET USE thus will attempt to use all of them, which is good if you use a lot of spells / abilities with cool downs , it gives you at least some DPS while waiting for your cool downs. But there are annoyances with the trinkets. Some trinkets have uses but no DPS benefits and it will factor them in. There is no way currently to drop them from the rotation if you don't want to use them or you want to save them for emergency / special situations. If that happens it's not that hard to learn to skip the first suggestion and use the 2nd which will often drop the skipped one and recalculate a new path. But that is something you must train your mind to do and it IS annoying. You can drop a list with spells / abilities you don't want it to use but it only allows for one and trinkets are usually not on the list. When DF began and I didn't know what I was doing, Hekili helped improve my DPS in most characters 300 - 400%. It won't be the same for everyone or every class or even every spec but it could very well be helpful. It also factors in spells / abilities that have an enhancing effect on other frequently used spells, or that resets cool downs on frequently used spells. All you need do is to have them hot-keyed in. Another thing that needs work is the icons. I am a visual person and match my icons with my spells and I have run across some spell icons that don't match anything I use, or that are in my spell book, what's up with that? It doesn't happen often but it does happen and when it does it has the potential to crash DPS with you trying to find that spell for that Icon. But if you are not one who matches icons to spells, it will have the key number that spell is hot keyed to shown. This is a great tool even with the minor imperfections.
I was a brand new player in in Pre-patch for Shadowlands basically. I was trying ALL the classes to figure out what I liked. I ended up loving the DK and Unholy was just toooo much for me to learn. Once I found a DPS addon I tried Unholy again and it made the class and spec my absolute favorite in the entire game. I was having so much fun, and learned rotations by muscle memory and understanding when and why. I got to the point where I could play without it. Which is what I did! I think this addon is practically essential for new/returning players. It makes learning so much more fun and easier
I've never been an alt guy, but I found out about this a couple of weeks ago and absolutely love it. My method is: - Look up written guides - Compare with TH-cam vids - Go in-game with this addon and play a while with the ST and AoE dummies - Look at the procs and buffs I get - Look for patterns in the rotation - Try and figure out WHY the addon wants me to press a certain button at a certain time The new talent system has a search box too which is really handy for looking up and figuring out why it wanted you to use a certain ability, usually because of a talent you've picked that proc'd. I do tend to go into the addon and disable defensive CDs and trinkets BUT I do enable Major Cooldowns because sometimes you want to press those in a certain order. E.g. 2x Wrath THEN big CDs once you are in Eclipse on Balance Druid. I also like this addon because sometimes you have so many things off CD and flashing you don't know which is the highest priority. A lot of classes are very reactive and dynamic so they don't always have a set rotation. Outlaw rogue is probably one of the hardest I've tried and couldn't play it at all without this addon (so I stopped, I don't like staring at the addon to play the game).
Ditto - I drop Outlaw after it was introduced and went asassin to this day, but now I may go back to it. I've done your first 3 lines of suggestions for years that's why I turned to hekili recently to put it all together, otherwise I was just mashing what I could remember not really knowing why or what for.
I haven't played wow since wotlk so as a returning played I'm dealing with a lot of changes and this will make it easier for me to get into it, thanks for the video my man!
As an altoholic this addon is great for refreshing how to play a certain spec/class! And people complaining about the addon when it's optional and 33.3mil people don't have an issue 😂
As an adult who only could play 1x at weekends or every second weekends I'm happy for this addon, because I do not have time to learn rotations, but I want to enjoy the raids as most as possible ! Thank you so much for the video !
Have used Hekili and GSE (advanced macro) add ons for years. They make classes accessible to new players and can help inform your bindings very quickly. From there, if you're inclined, you can work on mastering and tweaking the rotation yourself. And if you're not inclined, well then you probably weren't all along. The addon helps more than it hurts, is how I see it!
Thank you for making this video, an addon like this will help me so much i love wow an i love playing a class. I've never played before when a new expansion comes out, so thanks again, man!
This seems great for those confused by class guides/just wants to play an alt without learning each individual spec in real time. Plus, people using this MIGHT perform better than without it. This will make anything you need to queue for a little smoother.
As a returning player after not playing for over ten years, I completely forgot how to play any of my classes. I stopped playing after MoP. With the level squish, all my characters were in noob gear and I pretty much felt like a new player trying to learn the ropes again. With so many changes over the years, this add on has been very beneficial getting back into the swing of things and learning rotations again. I still feel so lost though. I'm so behind on everything and feel so overwhelmed.
I haven’t play the game in almost 5 years, reading the angry comments reminds me why I stop playing. A game that I use to forget reality and enjoy a time feeling a hero then be stress about the game cuz people really want a piece of gear. On the topic of the add on I like the idea, in fact I hope that help players focus on the mechanics, to be fair, if you level up you character on the “normal” way you will have a good understanding of yours spells and class, but who does that nowadays? Even before nobody was doing it anymore
This addon is legit the only reason I ever played all classes and specs and then finally found a few I like. I used it for a couple of months to get really good with 2 specs and then finally got rid of it. I wouldn't use it forever because you are just looking at it 100% of the time. But it really helps build muscle memory which takes a few months.
There is a reddit post(How good is Hekili topic) where someone is explaining how to setup this addon properly. That person is consistently doing +23 m+ and mythic raids with Hekili and it does its job perfectly fine. Considering how many things we have to get into consideration during m+ or mythic raids, having tool like this helping us is a good thing. Not everyone has perfect perception to catch every detail happening on his screen.
i actually would really like this addon! one thing that keeps me out of classes is keeping all the rotation abilities in my head. this will help jump back into classes I haven't played in a long time or have never played and make sure im doing the rotation right. you hit the nail on the head, disable it when you are good and updated/refreshed.
I dont see why this addon gets the hate as all it is doing is making it easier for more people to learn how to play the game and their class, which is something a lot of groups and raids are often complaining about. Thats like complaining about someone being shit at math and then complaining that theyre getting tutored on how to get better at math instead of staring at a textbook until they magically get good.
I've being playing WoW Classic since 2019 and everytime I come back to Retail just to test the new class mechanics I was overwhelmed by the amount of stuff. Of course, my 2 main specs (Elemental and Blood) are easy to pick up since even if you got new stuff, the essence of the class is still the same, but other classes that I didn't play that much and I might enjoy are way annoying to get used to. This addon was a life saver, I still read every single talent, but I don't get lost in all this new information for a returning player. Pretty good video and addon, thanks.
I just started using this and holy…..wish I picked it up earlier. Personally as a hunter my rotation is easier then other classes (thank god) but its how it knows what skill is coming off cd and what is about too come off cd which makes this addon op for any class. The way it tracks cds to use will help even the best players.
I tried hekili and it actually helped me with learning the rogue after rerolling from ret paladin. When i stopped using it i was doing my rotation and meeting the dps from simming without an issue. Of course it's recommended that players stop using at some point in order to fully understand their class. Haters will always hate 😁
THIS! I am just coming back to the game since Cata and so much has changed. I've read guides and I practice on dummies daily to try to get my rotation. However, no dice. I'm looking forward to installing this to see where I'm going wrong.
over 40 million people have downloaded it so I don't know why people would talk bad about it. I always use it now and has helped my gameplay quite a bit.
I'm a veteran player and still struggle with my rotations so seeing that there is addons like this does make my feel better about running endgame content and not stressing to much
I raid at a CE level. I posted purple/orange parses through mythic on any fight that I didn't have mechanic assignments on. I posted orange/pink parses through all of heroic. I have a 2800 M+ raiting. All while using this addon. If you are in heroic content or not pushing for Key Stone hero you can plug and play. This addon will be perfectly fine out of the box. If you are in higher end content, the addon does need some thought behind it and probably some configuration tweaking.
@@stillsolo Def not 100% but it's close enough to get the job done. If you have the knowledge to know when to ignore the suggestion or even better, to make configuration changes so it is accurate and then key bind the toggles so you can enable/disable CDs, aoe, single target, minor CDs, etc. It's very very powerful.
@theluo652 What tweaks do you make to the config? Only thing I've really done it take the que out to 6 buttons so I can leave CDs in the front if I'm holding for something.
I havent had much testing with tanks and this addon. I imagine its just going to help you with your "dps" as a tank and not so much using defensives right?
I used it while picking up boomkin for the first time, it’s been a huge help. While I understood what I needed to be doing from guides, this helped me keep my rotation clean under pressure and start getting a feel for when I need to start casting starfire as I’m coming out of an eclipse, for example. While I don’t pay much attention to it anymore because I’ve learned what needs to be done, I do still have it on to keep an eye on my dots for me bc it’s easier to see at a glance that the other UI elements I have currently.
as someone who enjoys playing Feral druid, i could see myself using this as a tool to find out where in my rotation i can improve. i wouldnt use it long term, just to tighten up a few spots and get timings down.
Awesome video tbh! I've always wanted to use a tool like this to fully make us of the class I'm playing at it's full potential and was trying to improve by reading the skills myself and watching guides etc. The thing is: Yes, sure I am reading my skills and trying to understand the syngeries, but this is so overwhelming and time consuming if you just want to try out new builds/classes/specs. I finally can try new things and don't have to feel bad, because I total get that you want to use an addon like this for helping you get into the rotations and different situations and not because you're lazy and just hit the buttons that the addon is throwing at you. It's an awesome and quick way to learn the game/class! Thanks
People who say this type of addon is 'cheap' or 'stupid' are the type of players that probably leave the group after 1 wipe. I have used this addon myself to help me learn new rotations and after awhile I have learned rotations without having to rely on the addon. It is an awesome training tool and I recommend it for new players and old players looking to try out new specs and builds.
I have been using Hekili for a long time. As someone who likes to play alot of alts and doing Heroic content on them all, it helps with this tremendously. You should never use a rotation helper as the end all be all, class guides will always be the best way to master your rotation. But use it. Enjoy it. And don’t worry about the people who say it’s a crutch. It’s your game. Play it the way you want.
It helps me adjust my focus bar when I play Hunter. The order it gives me is always geared towards filling my main skill. That's why I like hekili, other than that it's not the same with other specs. I play better when I improvise on the others. Hunter is already an easy character. It's only good to follow your basic skills.
I'm new to wow, started 3 days ago, I was having trouble with knowing what to press and when, it was so overwhelming i was about to quit. My friend then told me about this addon and it saved me from quitting the game. I now feel like i kind of know what I'm doing and can help out in raids (getting carried through by my friends). A+ addon if you ask me.
I used Ovale Spell Priority back in the day and I can't begin to tell you how useful it was in helping me become a better overall player. It also improved my situational awareness without too much of a sacrifice to dps. I would much rather have someone err on the side of caution and use this addon if it meant they brought more dps to the raid than pretend to think that they're hot s**t only to come up short. The only caveat I have is that it's useless for healers but I admit that I could be wrong about that.
I use GSE to make my rotation a one button macro. This for several reasons: 1: I am getting older and my reflexes are not the same as when I was young 2: I don't have a lot of time to learn rotations as I have an extremely busy RL so my online time is limited 3: I think theres's more to the game than just rotation. I'm more focused on survival and dodging stuff Addons are a great help and if you're not doing serious competition gaming, there's nothing wrong with them.
The Hekili addon is FANTASTIC! With the overhaul of the skill system and leveling being so much faster, this addon wildly reduces the amount of time it takes to play a new class. It used to take a lot more time to memorize each skill's function, put it in the right order on your keyboard, stare at your cooldowns, and remember your rotation when switching from one alt to the next. When you want to complete daily quests on a half a dozen characters, that's a lot of rotations to remember and adjust to on-the-fly. This addon helps to remind the player, if they need help.
WoW has a number of specs that are traditionally more difficult to learn than others, but are fun as hell once they're mastered, like Outlaw Rogue and UH DK. But they do have a lot of CDs to remember to upkeep and it can get super chaotic, especially in a boss fight. I've been learning specs the manual way for 14 years, but now that I want to tap into the game's harder specs, a little assistance isn't a bad thing.
I use Gse because I have health problems and I'm old. This addon I love because it shows you when to interupt which i manually have to press. People wil complain about anything if things are working to your liking don;t worry what they say:)
I know this is a Retail video but i use it in Cataclysm Classic i have 10 lvl 85s (all different classes) and danm, this addon was a blessing. I feel i'm able to play them decently while just jumping in, and then i get the hang of it again quickly, however if things get kinda hectic it is nice to just look at it and be like "Damn my Unstable Affliction fell off" ect and instantly refresh it. Noticed massive DPS/Tanking DPS with this, i even saw i had not key binded "Feral Charge" for my Guardian Druid, it is alot to dig into having 10 x 85s so i love this Addon. Would recomend having it as a safety net, i'm notoriously bad at keeping uptime on dots, and if you want you can even edit priority in the addon (kinda cluncky but doable.) Also ReforgeLite holds a special place in my heart on all my Characters being able to instantly get the best use of all secondary stats while maintaining hit/expertise caps (or set your own caps). ReforgeLite helps me see what secondary is the best for every spec in the game, kinda hard to remember all specs but nice to have it also as a safety net.
Your last video was great! I have many alts but am always nervous to play them because I don’t know the rotations. Your video was the final push in me picking back up some of my alts since Legion! And I stopped using the add on once I understood the rotation
idk why people hate these addons. it's bring the gear not the player currently. your skill doesn't matter anyway. the only things that matters are your gear score and the current class meta.
I use this for BM hunter Parsing 99s in heroic and purple in Mythic, currently progging mythic Tindral... i know several CE raiders parsing orange and pink with this addon. customization is KEY here! you have the make sure itll pick up info faster and change the suggestions quicker. an example of a customization is in m+ it will tell me to target swap barbed shot if my target already ahs it applied. small things like that go a long way
Can’t wait to use this later, I’ve come back to WoW from FF14, where the latter rotations are much simpler and less situation reliant than WoW (I also main sub rogue) so this is perfect to get back into it.
It helped my memorize the rotation inspect why I'm pressing what I'm pressing and when it's like a guitar tutor really just helps me be a better player I'm getting older a may not have the time to watch 30 mins videos how to play
Great for learning a new class, if you have lots of alts or when there's a new expansion and everything changes, so it's a quick way to get up to speed. I was using Conro but it isn't up to date so I'm looking for an alternative. Cool video, keep up the good work, thanks :)
I've used this, and yes it does work really well. I was playing Unholy DK in Vault of the Incarnates and I was regularly in the top 5 DPS of my raid group, despite having never played DK prior.
I have looked at several videos on rotation and it gets complex super fast. There is no middle ground on rotation, its either perfect and everyone is happy or its in the toilet followed by Sh...t comments from party members about dps. Having an addon to keep you at least at "normal" dps (not the elite maxed dps) makes everyone happy. Your party members only care that your pulling your weight and are making progress. Thank you for this content....some of us are not perfect and we need addons like this.
I use these to learn a new class/spec just as suggested in the video. I learn the ropes and as soon as I’m making different decisions (AI can only understand so much) based on the situation, it’s uninstalled! Also, I really only do PvP once capped so these tools are all limited in that area but it can still help teach me and train my muscle memory for a new class.
used hekili since legion I also have every class at 70 working it to get to 480 ilevel and at least 2500 io on each class, im almost done with it! its all thanks to this addion. alot of ppl love to hate this addon but they dont realize how much it can much of a difference for certain players. many of my friends love to hate on this addon but as time goes by, they seen a ton of success me using this addon. not sure if people know this but you can toggle off and on for your cd if you need to save your cd but you need to remember to turn it back on, otherwise you will feel your dps is low lol since im used to watching the addons, my awareness on mechanics were significantly higher because i dont have to think about my rotation while doing mechanics AND running at the same time to keep my uptime. of course you still need to know whats your instant cast while moving but yea. I was one of the highest dps back in Battle of dazalor when achieved CE for it ( i know its one of the easier one but still an achievement mekkatorque mythic was a huge killer for my raid) I was able to perform really well on dps and tanks with this addon. Dont let the naysayers tell you not to use it, give it a try for me i love to know my single and my aoe rotation addon instead, theres an option that allows you to put dual and its what i use. The auto one is by default and not always reliable for me. for this season, my most successful specs were demo,, destro( ST only and raids with no aoe) survival( make sure to position yourself correctly with bomb cones), feral, VDH(dont always use fel spike when add on tells you to, requires good knowledge when is the good time to use it), prot war, ret and WW I heard BM is really good too but havent tried. Unholy used to be insane af back in legion using this addon but now its not super reliable prot pally is good but still requires of a bit of knowledge and addon for consecration making sure you are still in it or when it expires. and having enough holy words for healing when needed WARNING THOUGH, certain spec is still not good with this addon such as fire spec but thats imo
I dont use this myself, but i did install it for my brother, he is disabled and has his own challenges, this lets us play together without him becoming really discouraged that hes not helping, and it makes the experience alot better for me and my freinds that group with him, it has a place.
I was pretty good with my rotation without Hekili, yet I could easily f it up whenever something intense was happening around (like some complicated mechanics in the raid), and it dropped my DPS substantially. While I didn't see significant difference between using/not using Hekili on Patchwerk/light movement bosses, I've managed to increase DPS by up to 25% on more intense boss fights.
Let's hear em :D
why are you saying this is clearly better than hero rotation? I didnt get it from the video apart from the next 3 buttons, which imho is confusing if those next buttons will happen to change
legit half of echo and limit use this on their ui setups

what a broad and strange spectrum we are in.. i do too and opposing to you; i do better with muscle memory and patterns.
@@alperenozgur im in between i need the visual aid to learn the muscle memory and to remind me to keep doing it to get into that patten of memory. after a few thousand times it may get programmed in i just have to keep trying =] Im autistic. adha and dyslexic everyones different

There's been these for a long time
I've been using Hekili for a while. Great addon to help to discover new specs / classes without being a total burden for your group / raid. But you're right, if you wanna really master a spec, Hekili won't help you on its own.
But it's a great tool to begin with.
Totally worth the try.
Couldn't agree more!
i'm curious how it doesn't help you master a spec. especially in priority based dps specs... seems like it would take the guesswork out of stuff.. unless it doesn't track CD's and procs... in that case, your comment makes sense..
Not everyone is gifted with the ability to have an efficient rotation without some training.
well said
I fit your post.
Apart from this it is a brilliant addon, at least for beginners or people learning a new spec.
yeah its super useful
Gotta min/max though :). ..also, I dip in and out of retail, so having those training wheels is handy after a few months off.
after sometime you get use to it tho and it all just becomes one with the dungeon or raid
Even Airline Pilots have a co-pilot and modern electronics to assist. They don't just "Wing It" to the next airport. And the passengers appreciate it!
Great point
Hekili is a great guide type addon. It is by no means perfect. It makes some strange suggestions at times. It's better for some classes than others. But my DPS went up 30% the first time I used it. So it is definitely helpful especially for the more complicated classes.
Totally agree
I haven't played this game in about 12 years. This addon has caught me up nicely. It is a brilliant tool for someone like myself when so much has changed in WoW since I last played.
Thank you as a new player, here to learn the learning curve has been so high and I hope this helps.
No worries!
I have used Hekili for years. Not worried about "bad habits". It's just a rotation reminder at this point. Folks complain too much.
Yeah people have a very strange attitude on it.
Exactly, what the naysayers forget is that Hekili only makes suggestions, you don't have to follow them.
*As a person with one of every race and at least one of every class, this is perfect. I have a main, but I like to play my alts from time to time.*
as someone who watches guides and its just too much to take in all at once, coupled with a low attention span, this is a great option for learning what moves work in different situations without getting bored and giving up on mastering the class. not everyone learns the same way, and not everyone can learn from the long format how to guides that are all but required for the in depth explanations people give.
Noob question, can you use it before 50 to learn how to play a class whilst leveling?
@@senseipoole9324 I'm 5 months late but yeah you can
Been using this everytime I return to wow. As almost always, there are some new abilities ect. Its been great help to help brush up on rusty muscle memory
i used this ad-on cuz i had no idea proper rotations were a thing. i would just spam whatever was available. i think its good for people like me who just need to learn the game completly. i will say staring at 3 icons makes pay attention to the raid pretty difficult. so theres that
Yeah I guess it depends on what spec your playing too.
This is a great addon for somebody like me. I'm blind in one eye and don't have great peripheral vision, so it's great to have a visual helper.
True
I think this addon is amazing for any disabled players or people that have a hard time physically keeping up or that mentally stress easily.
Yeah it's a really great tool.
Like people with autism
I have autism and for me this addon a great help for less stress and incentives. I tried for a long time the rotation its to mich for me. So this addon takes it all away
Anything that helps bridge the gap between not having a clue and figured it out is a good thing. it's on the user to take the training wheels off, people need to stop blaming a tool and remember there is no shame in learning.
Well said
I use it for some specs, but I'm a casual player and don't care about min/max. The downside with this is it won't tell you the why only what to press. If your going to master your class you need to know why you press a certain button when. If you set it up to do so I will also have you use defensive abilities and your CD's.
Very true
For a new player this is something I need thank you for showcasing this
anytime
Hey thanks for stopping by!
This can really help learn what ability to use when you aggro multiple mob and such after a while u wont notice it
As someone on the autism spectrum and with adhd mods like this help me focus and avoid getting overwhelmed by everything happening around me.
I have been playing since vanilla and with how many choices and changes there now I find I can't multi class like I used too. This add-on is a greater helper. Some classes I don't use it anymore, but when I wanted to learn sub rogue it was awesome
Couldn't agree more
As a new player to WoW, this addon has been incredibly helpful for learning the basics of various classes while i'm trying to work out what class to "main"
Please don’t stop posting these. I love wow but hate how much I have to focus. I just want to do damage with bright colours and see high dmg numbers. This is an amazing addon.
I wouldn’t of discovered this without you. Please post more of this kind of stuff
No problem 😊
Great video, I play the warrior/pally/DH which I dominate but suck on other classes that I just leveled, the addon did improved my play on the classes I don't know well or don't play often..by a lot, this was a marked improvement.
thanks! and im glad it works out well for you
Great addon (Hekili) to learn viable rotations.
They didn't learn the spec to make this addon, the whole rotation it's based on simc apl they just copy and paste it.
Well said!
Dk are awesome 😎
Yeah same for me on rogue, i just couldn't figure it out but when i used a rotation addon i finally figured it out and it was cracked.
I've never been an alt guy, but I found out about this a couple of weeks ago and absolutely love it. My method is:
- Look up written guides
- Compare with TH-cam vids
- Go in-game with this addon and play a while with the ST and AoE dummies
- Look at the procs and buffs I get
- Look for patterns in the rotation
- Try and figure out WHY the addon wants me to press a certain button at a certain time
The new talent system has a search box too which is really handy for looking up and figuring out why it wanted you to use a certain ability, usually because of a talent you've picked that proc'd.
Yeah its a really great tool.
Anytime
As an altoholic this addon is great for refreshing how to play a certain spec/class! And people complaining about the addon when it's optional and 33.3mil people don't have an issue 😂
Its great for alts
Love to hear addons like this helps new players learn the way of WoW if they are serious about it. Keep up the work love to see it.
Thanks, will do!
This seems great for those confused by class guides/just wants to play an alt without learning each individual spec in real time.
Plus, people using this MIGHT perform better than without it. This will make anything you need to queue for a little smoother.
Thanks for the video! I play every class and spec and having this addon available is great, no way I can remember every ability and when to use it.
No problem!
Exactly!
I have never used or seen these add-ons. " Training wheels" I think is a perfect explanation. I will use this with my ele shaman that I'm trash at.
Just take it one step at a time there is no rush
Same here in the same position!
Addons like this I think are good few new players or very casual players who have not played a particular spec before.
You learn to just filter them. This happens in any game community.
Thats pretty cool!
I found and used heliki in DF s1 . I got basically every portal and went 5/8M parsing blue/purple and soley followed the addon.
I’m a brand new player I want to learn the rotation with this and then optimize it without the add on I think this will be great
i actually would really like this addon! one thing that keeps me out of classes is keeping all the rotation abilities in my head. this will help jump back into classes I haven't played in a long time or have never played and make sure im doing the rotation right. you hit the nail on the head, disable it when you are good and updated/refreshed.
Yeah it's super helpful
Glad you are enjoying the addon!
I tried hekili and it actually helped me with learning the rogue after rerolling from ret paladin. When i stopped using it i was doing my rotation and meeting the dps from simming without an issue. Of course it's recommended that players stop using at some point in order to fully understand their class. Haters will always hate 😁
Yeah exactly! Some people just don't understand
I'm a veteran player and still struggle with my rotations so seeing that there is addons like this does make my feel better about running endgame content and not stressing to much
Glad it helped
I raid at a CE level. I posted purple/orange parses through mythic on any fight that I didn't have mechanic assignments on. I posted orange/pink parses through all of heroic. I have a 2800 M+ raiting. All while using this addon.
If you are in heroic content or not pushing for Key Stone hero you can plug and play. This addon will be perfectly fine out of the box. If you are in higher end content, the addon does need some thought behind it and probably some configuration tweaking.
I'm messing with it in mythic raid and it's not 100% accurate
@@stillsolo Def not 100% but it's close enough to get the job done.
If you have the knowledge to know when to ignore the suggestion or even better, to make configuration changes so it is accurate and then key bind the toggles so you can enable/disable CDs, aoe, single target, minor CDs, etc. It's very very powerful.
@theluo652 What tweaks do you make to the config? Only thing I've really done it take the que out to 6 buttons so I can leave CDs in the front if I'm holding for something.
Definitely helped with my tank anxiety knowing what buttons to hit to get somewhat decent dos and keep threat
I havent had much testing with tanks and this addon. I imagine its just going to help you with your "dps" as a tank and not so much using defensives right?
@@stillsolo it has options for it, i'm still getting used to keeping track of everything on the damn screen xD
Thank you for showing this addon to me, i just picked up a new character and your vid came in clutch to help me out thank you and have a nice day!
Glad I could help
as someone who enjoys playing Feral druid, i could see myself using this as a tool to find out where in my rotation i can improve. i wouldnt use it long term, just to tighten up a few spots and get timings down.
Thanks
😊
As a new player trying to learn tanking this addon is amazing
awesome video btw
Glad I could help
it sucks on tanks tbh u need reactivity and knowledge of fight instead of a simple damage rotation
Some class rotations just don't work and have a lot of issues. Elemental shammy is a good example. Although right now elemental is pretty simple🤷🏾♂️
Yeah some can be sus
This for several reasons:
1: I am getting older and my reflexes are not the same as when I was young
2: I don't have a lot of time to learn rotations as I have an extremely busy RL so my online time is limited
3: I think theres's more to the game than just rotation. I'm more focused on survival and dodging stuff
Addons are a great help and if you're not doing serious competition gaming, there's nothing wrong with them.
Thats wild!
It's great
this is just straight up a visual reminder and a good counterpart to memorizing the priority tree
Thanks this what I need for my new Frost Mage!! Loved the video.
Glad you enjoyed!
its amazing, i havent played in 1 year, started new class/70boost. and iam not even lowest dps now in most dungeons/raids
Ty I will be using this specifically because I would like to focus less on memorizing my rotation and more on my positioning and mechanic knowledge❤
I play healers mostly and forget DPS rotation when playing a dps spec so this helps me alot
I'm glad it helps! It's really useful
Would recomend having it as a safety net, i'm notoriously bad at keeping uptime on dots, and if you want you can even edit priority in the addon (kinda cluncky but doable.)
Also ReforgeLite holds a special place in my heart on all my Characters being able to instantly get the best use of all secondary stats while maintaining hit/expertise caps (or set your own caps).
Glad you like them!
idk why people hate these addons. it's bring the gear not the player currently. your skill doesn't matter anyway. the only things that matters are your gear score and the current class meta.
Training wheels is probably the best way i've heard hekili described.
😆
Used MaxDPS add on this entire expansion and love it. Even recommendations defensives for tanking.
I use this for BM hunter Parsing 99s in heroic and purple in Mythic, currently progging mythic Tindral... i know several CE raiders parsing orange and pink with this addon. customization is KEY here! you have the make sure itll pick up info faster and change the suggestions quicker. an example of a customization is in m+ it will tell me to target swap barbed shot if my target already ahs it applied. small things like that go a long way
Been using Hekili for a long time, was able to push to 3k rating and further during s2, and previous seasons always been in top 1%
Can’t wait to use this later, I’ve come back to WoW from FF14, where the latter rotations are much simpler and less situation reliant than WoW (I also main sub rogue) so this is perfect to get back into it.
Glad I could help!
It helped my memorize the rotation inspect why I'm pressing what I'm pressing and when it's like a guitar tutor really just helps me be a better player I'm getting older a may not have the time to watch 30 mins videos how to play
Glad it's helping you out
Great for learning a new class, if you have lots of alts or when there's a new expansion and everything changes, so it's a quick way to get up to speed. I was using Conro but it isn't up to date so I'm looking for an alternative. Cool video, keep up the good work, thanks :)
Very true!
I've used this, and yes it does work really well. I was playing Unholy DK in Vault of the Incarnates and I was regularly in the top 5 DPS of my raid group, despite having never played DK prior.
A lot of the community need this add-on tbh. It’s just teaching you good form. Throwing someone in the deep end is overrated
Interesting!
This addon would benefit much older players in the 50+ range, for sure.
I use these to learn a new class/spec just as suggested in the video. I learn the ropes and as soon as I’m making different decisions (AI can only understand so much) based on the situation, it’s uninstalled! Also, I really only do PvP once capped so these tools are all limited in that area but it can still help teach me and train my muscle memory for a new class.
used hekili since legion
I also have every class at 70 working it to get to 480 ilevel and at least 2500 io on each class, im almost done with it!
its all thanks to this addion.
alot of ppl love to hate this addon but they dont realize how much it can much of a difference for certain players.
many of my friends love to hate on this addon but as time goes by, they seen a ton of success me using this addon.
not sure if people know this but you can toggle off and on for your cd if you need to save your cd but you need to remember to turn it back on, otherwise you will feel your dps is low lol
since im used to watching the addons, my awareness on mechanics were significantly higher because i dont have to think about my rotation while doing mechanics AND running at the same time to keep my uptime. of course you still need to know whats your instant cast while moving but yea.
I was one of the highest dps back in Battle of dazalor when achieved CE for it ( i know its one of the easier one but still an achievement mekkatorque mythic was a huge killer for my raid)
I was able to perform really well on dps and tanks with this addon.
Dont let the naysayers tell you not to use it, give it a try
for me i love to know my single and my aoe rotation addon instead, theres an option that allows you to put dual and its what i use. The auto one is by default and not always reliable for me.
for this season, my most successful specs were demo,, destro( ST only and raids with no aoe) survival( make sure to position yourself correctly with bomb cones), feral, VDH(dont always use fel spike when add on tells you to, requires good knowledge when is the good time to use it), prot war, ret and WW
I heard BM is really good too but havent tried. Unholy used to be insane af back in legion using this addon but now its not super reliable
prot pally is good but still requires of a bit of knowledge and addon for consecration making sure you are still in it or when it expires. and having enough holy words for healing when needed
WARNING THOUGH, certain spec is still not good with this addon such as fire spec but thats imo
