Thank you for your introduction in Pro-1, I was thinking DR 100 or PRO-1 ended up i chose a PRO-1, Its only 8 bucks difference between this two. I ordered PRO-1 and i can't wait to play it! i'll get it tomorrow or two days later! So excited!
Is this guitar even available to buy? I noticed GC and MF aren't even advertising it anymore. I had it purchased and it was delayed so many times I pulled my order, that was a couple months back, was looking for it again and it looks like it disappeared from anyplace that would sell it. Looks awesome to me.
The November 2014 issue of Guitar Player magazine has a review of the Pro-1 Ultra and gives it a positive review and an "Editor's Pick." They say it has "pronounced mids and airy highs" but doesn't do very great at the bass and mid-range. Still, they rave about just about everything else about the guitar, especially how great it is in terms of playability. Probably worth checking it out if the local guitar shop has any.
What is a disappointment to me is the glossy neck......they missed a very important factor there.... (not sure for you but my hands are sweating like crazy when I practice.....with the gloss it is not a good combo) Another thing that makes me want to stay away from it is the shorter scale length...I understand that it makes easier to fret some chords but I think it would make it harder in the upper frets. I have a normal scale length guitar and when I have to play some chords above 9th. fret my fingers "barely fit together" if you know what I mean. I have long skinny fingers but I still struggle with this (maybe I cause I am a beginner) Btw I think these sound better with heavier strings....I heard another guy playing the all-laminate pro-1 in another video and I was quite surprised how good it sounded all-around. I might try it in the future just out of curiosity.
the neck is too narrow. I just bought this. I can't play Am without my left ring finger touching both the strings, and my palm touching the thin string. sad
I have expensive guitars and love em. I am also an experienced player and I picked up one of these guitars today and was surprised how good it was. I'm actually gonna sell my Cole Clark Fat Lady and get one of these. The Epiphone doesn't sound as good as my Cole Clark but these are easier to play and that's gotta be a good thing right? You can always make it sound way better with amp adjustment anyways...
potofgold07 Definitely go with the PRO-1. Having been playing over 30 years. I have tried all of Epiphone's entry level acoustics, from the solid top AJ220s to the DR 100 and the one in between. The 18:1 ratio gear tuners, bone nut and saddle, shorter scale and thin D profile neck make this the best starter guitar for under $200. I would recommend it even over the AJ220s (if you want a solid top on a budget, just buy the solid top version of the PRO-1)
good initiative but sore fingers and callusses are the right of passage . This can be a good starting point but if anybody gets caught up in this. . . He/she will never be able to play a real guitar which will hurt the fingers... and you'll be dubbed the fake guitarists.

Absolutely LOVE my Epiphone Pro-1. Had to get it in Tobacco Sunburst because I love the classic look.
Sounds great and yes, very comfortable to play.

I am confused between DR 100 and PRO 1... Which one is better for Beginners ?
Never would say it but I feel the need for a red guitar.
did can we change the string to 0,10? did will bw any problem on the neck.
Does the pro 1 ultra have a built-in tuner?
Jep
is there an epiphone pro-1 without a massive fuck off euro symbol on the pickguard?
pretty good for beginners but when you get better at playing you should try more to compare and learn

Of course it gives it a positive review. It's in business to sell guitars. That's what paid reviewers do.
