I just got it today, and I'm blow away! The quality is insane for the price! £124.25 I got it for, and brilliant quality! Enjoyed this review as well, helpful before buying this guitar :)
I'm pretty sure your student was paying you a compliment (gnarly). The second part is similar to The Beatles' And I Love her. I'm looking for the 3/4 size of the Epiphone classical. And, you can't go wrong with D'Addario strings! The brand you've got on sound great! I use D'Addario Pro Arte strings, normal tension. Rule of thumb for changing strings: every 40 hours for amateur players, 16 hours for pros.
I bought a Pro 1 a few years back at GC for a heavy discount due to a Presidents Day sale, something like $130 opposed to $180 and it's all around great. I've been playing for 15 years, so not a beginner at all, I just bought it to have something to play around the house when I don't feel like using my amps and stuff but I was blown away for the price. It's a great guitar for a budget whether you're a beginner or been playing for awhile. Never had any issues with the bridge separation, and I live in a pretty humid area. Looks like Epi just discontinued these tho in place of their new " Starling " model and I gotta say... I think it was a bad move on their part. These things are perfect for the price.
I'm glad you found it useful Kimo. This truly is a fantastic guitar. I hope you get back in to playing again. If you do let me know. It would be great to hear you play 👍🙏
Good review, just wish you would have mentioned if the top is solid or not (I assume its not), and what the nut width is, and some finger style wold have been great. Nice guitar for the price anyhow. Cheers.
The dubbiness of the bass strings could be the extra light gauge strings. Go with Elixir 80/20 bronze wound regular light gauge. It will put more pressure on the bridge n since the string tension is completely in the bridge it may lift over time which has been problem according to reviews. They call the nut n saddle graphtech nu-bone? Is that synthetic bone like tusq is synthetic ivory?? Changing the saddle to tusq or brass may give low end some boost. This low end dubbiness is very disappointing.
I got one sounds tingey may need heavier gage strings but how good is the bridge I do detune my guitar before putting away to loosen the tension I do it to all my guitars
I have a fender CD 60ce and I have to say its just as good. The frets are spaced out really nice. I have big clumsy hands and I don't struggle to play anywhere in this neck. For the money its a fantastic guitar.
It comes with e new-bone saddle. I changed my saddle to the tusq brand and it took away all the depth of sound. Stick with what it comes with and set it up from there
@@DrJonTam I started off my live career with a borrowed Yamaha. What a workhorse. Never had the chance to play a more mid priced one but would love too. Have a wonderful day Jon 😊

Great review. I like the appearance of that guitar.
Thank you Seah. It truly is a beautiful instrument.
What should I go for the fender cd60 or the epi pro 1 if I'm looking for a warm tone?
Does it hold the candle to Fender CD 60? I love a deep tone as against the all-bright sound. Also, are the frets comfortably spaced out?

What do you think about changing the saddle , nut and pins to bone ?

What and why would you pick between Epiphone Pro-1 and Epiphone DR-100?
Hi Navneet.
To be honest I have never played a DR-100. I will try to get a hold of one and do a shootout 👍
I love your guitar.
Thank you. Its a beauty 😀🙏
What string gauge did you use ? Is it better than epiphone dr 100 ?
I haven't played the dr 100 but they are around the same price range. I can only vouch that this guitar is incredible for the money.
HI FROM MEXICO . ESPERO COMPRARME UNA EPIPHONE GUITAR EN TIENDA LIVERPOOL . DE AQUI DE CULIACAN SINALOA MEXICO
Great guitar but not for tropical climate...mine bridge came off automatically...I use 11’s
yes that's a common problem with those bridges without bridge pins. Never buy one.
Which is better the Pro 1 or DR 100?
Hi Spa time.
To be honest I have never played a DR-100. I will try to get a hold of one and do a shootout 👍
What's the best beginner guitar you've tried??
Is there a perticular brand you think I should try out?
I've tend to just go straight to Yamaha for beginner-mid level stuff. Their factory-made but the quality is so consistent.
