      I got a decent starter pack from Best Choice products for 45 quid. The action is a little high and it's mostly lower quality wood, but it fulfills the purpose of a starter pack better than any other, which is to determine if you actually want to play guitar or not. And it comes with a REAL amp, unlike the Epiphone ones.

      my own starter pack was more expensive... somewhere around 200£ in DKK. Contained a Squier Bullet Strat, a Roland Cube 15w ( i think) and the extra stuff (picks, jack, lousy gigbag, etc.)

    Right, 2 ideas spring to mind from watching this vid:
    1) Chappers vs. The Captain - Rocksmith challenges (high-scores on minigames, best % on a few songs, go wild and then weigh pros and cons of Rocksmith)
    2) Chappers&The Captain vs. Rabea&Matt - Build an Andertons starter pack
    Each team puts together 2 starter packs from affordable gear, and leave the judging to the comments field. Add a bonus competition - in the comments, choose 1 of the packs and write a review/presentation. Winner gets the pack and Andertons use the review/presentation making the pack an Andertons special offer.

    • @mrklin99
      @mrklin99 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Right with you, I really feel I gain from the mini-games and such to learn scales and chords, but it is terrible for teqnique-training (correct picking, bending, slides and such). Got to have some kind of coach so you don't get hampered by learning some bad habbits on your own.

      And I'm not trying to put anyone off of having a teacher, I just never liked being tought, so Rocksmith was a cool way to keep playing when my motivation was going low.

    I volunteer at the Boys & Girls club in my community and my thing is to teach guitar. We get the kids for one hour each and when I have my time, I spend it trying to make new guitarist. If they show interest, I will buy them a starter pack, usually the Squier or the Yamaha (out of my own pocket and use it as a tax deduction). These might just work better. The on board tuner is so dope. The amp...IDK...I have to hear it in person. A Fender Frontman used is $20

    I've bought an SG custom & a John 5 tele from Andertons & my set up on both occasions has been minimal. Obvious string change on both guitars & a very slight intonation adjustment on the 5 (which is expected) Brilliant company to deal with and incredible after service.

    Captain is so right about this! A beginner only needs an amp so they can hear themselves. Not for the quality of the tone, cause half the time, they will just be trying to not make all the strings ring out.
    The Rocksmith thing is awesome! And has some cool tones.
    And love the ultimate to being kicked out of a guitar store for an intro!

    I agree with the cap. Last week I was at the big guitar store and a father was shopping with his son for the first guitar. They asked me for help and I urged them away from the "starter" goods because you're stuck with something you have to get rid of later when you upgrade or quit. We found an older used yamaha guitar and 10" peavey amp that will always be usable and good for subways, practice, or risky places you don't want your heavy or expensive gear.
    Total around $150.

    Impressive packs and I think it's great they come with a code for Rocksmith :). being a player for 22 years just by learning and watching, never been to a music university though i wish to one day, I think it's really an amazing product that can help anyone to learn guitar whether basics, songs, scales, etc. Sorry enough of my ranting. I've done that with my squier and multiple guitars for friends and such. :) Take a cheap strat, throw in a SD Hot Rails, hardtail the bridge if you wish, and you have an amazing guitar.

Its was a nice kit, love the Guitar although I now recently bought an Epiphone Custom shop 1984 Explorer. still use the Amp and Warlock and bought some pedals, EHX Metal muff with top boost, GCB95 crybaby and nux ch-3 chorus

    My mother worked in a charity shop and she brought home a purple Squier Strat as my first guitar about 12/13 years ago, around the same time some of my friends got a starter kit from Argos which was very good. It was a Strat looking thing which was mostly plastic, it had a pickup switch and a tremolo and the amp was a pretty decent size super cheap Fender, much bigger than that Epiphone thing, it was £80-90 which is crazy and it looks like they still do similar setups now.
    I actually ended up getting the amp by itself because it was so user friendly.

      +Alexander Kundert Yeah, it's alright. I have an (old) LPJ that looks a bit different to me because I think the top curve on this one looks a bit too shallow, like it's a jazzmaster on top. Still, not evry Lester has to be identical, so it looks fine.

    • @alexanderkundert5958
      @alexanderkundert5958 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Pablo Griswold yeah, on the explorer there was a huge difference in size, kind of makes ot look like a toy. thats why I got a squier, since they are the same size but nog as wide.

    I am constantly amazed by how much value is available in modern low-priced gear. I bought my first guitar in 1984, and it was $125 and was literally a plywood body piece of garbage. My first amp was a tiny Crate that cost $100 and sounded like poop. Add in a strap, a cable, a tuner and a couple picks and the total was easily over $275 - and I didn't even get a gig bag for the guitar!
    30 years later: you get a decent quality playable guitar, built-in tuner, strap, cable, picks, and software to teach you to play (and a mostly worthless amp) for about $300 (US). That's amazing! If you factor in inflation, that $275 (1984 dollars) starter kit would cost $632 (2016 dollars) now!!! That's over double the cost of an Epiphone starter kit.
    That's just amazing.
