    Thank you!! Tried all the other vids, stretch the spring, sand the follower, worked for a bit but ended up failing. This was it, you nailed it, if anyone wants the true permanent fix for this issue this is it, thanks again for posting.

      Thanks Bob. And it's a much cheaper part to replace too!

    Thank you for your help on this issue, definitely the best permanent fix, and I am willing to bet this is what the factory would do to fix as well.! I recently purchased a SD40VE, brand new out of the box, I was wondering why the slide would release forward just by removing the magazine.. every time the slide locked back by magazine follower, and I hit the mag release button, the slide would jump back forward almost making my heart skip a beat. Thank you for the help! Spot on.

    Worked for me! Also smith will send you a slide stop lever under warranty if you ask them but I did what’s in this video and all is good !
    Thanks

    I’m not getting how bending something down is gonna help something that’s not pushing up sufficiently? Can you explain the interaction of this part with others to explain what is/is not happening ? Until I understand the greater why, I’m not whacking on anything.

    Thanks man! That fix worked perfectly. A few good strikes and it locks like a champ. Great work on figuring that out. Before polishing was what I thought was needed, but it was def that metal catch. Just a smidge down and it catches with no worries. Thanks again!

    Thank you for the video! I knew it would be something easy that if I just saw a video on it, it would make sense! I did not want to pay an armorer for something as simple as bending a prong.

    My sd40 was not feeding just got it and brought it home.watched this video so I hit that lil metal part down didn’t work{still wouldn’t feed}.I took apart the magazine and stretched out the spring and put the magazine bac and it racked perfectly

    Thank you for this video! Just got one of the new SD9 2.0s, and the slide won't lock back. Gonna try this today!

    He does not show the actual “whacking” so this would be really easy to do wrong.

  • @MillennialPatriot
    @MillennialPatriot  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Note: the reason why you don't want to modify the magazine is because it's not a permanent solution. You also don't want to mess with the tolerances for feeding. Speaking from experience stretching the springs is only temporary, there is always a chance of the springs memory returning. Sure you could replace every magazine spring with a heavier spring...but your wasting money and the moment you buy another magazine you'll have to do the same to that one. This solution fixes the root issue at no cost.

  • @JewportMenthols

    The fix that worked for me was replacing the garbage magazine springs with Wolff 20% extra power Glock 19 springs. Much better than the factory S&W ones.

    • @MillennialPatriot
      @MillennialPatriot  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was considering this too, but after realizing a no cost option I went this route. How long have you had them and do you leave your mags loaded?
      This issue sprung on me as the mag springs broke in.

    • @JewportMenthols
      @JewportMenthols 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@MillennialPatriot The S&W mags were like that from the factory. I even sent them in under warranty claim and the ones I got back did the same thing brand new. The Wolff springs are mint, easier to load a full 16 and locks back after being loaded for months.

    • @MillennialPatriot
      @MillennialPatriot  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      just be careful, it can snap. Luckily its a cheap part...another thought I had was JB welding some small metal washer under it too
      ALSO! Are you sure its not your grip? my hand would stop it from grabbing at one point. Just make sure its an issue when just racking by hand ;)

    Great video. I just purchased this gun. What laser kit do you recommend?

    • @TTime685
      @TTime685 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Olight brand is best for the $. They make laser/light combos in every color. Streamlight is a good one too but they're more on the pricey side. You can find budget Streamlights, but they most likely won't have a laser

    have you had any issues since? I will probably try your method, mine will always lock back by hand but some ammo has like a 50% chance of locking back. Which is weird because I'm only counting ammo that cycles 100% of the time

    Is this a common problem with the SD9VE in 2020? The pistol has been out now for quite some time.

    • @MillennialPatriot
      @MillennialPatriot  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not this year specifically, I have owned mine for some years but with owning other firearms never bothered to fix it till now. In addition, trom the factory it worked but as the magazine springs wore in it became an issue.

      @@MillennialPatriot Thanks much for your quick reply. My daughter is looking for her first handgun and since The People's Republic of New Jersey doesn't allow its citizens to conceal carry she is looking for a full size pistol. Or a compact that has some weight. One other thing: Thanks for your video as t helps the firearm community a great deal.
