    Concerning safeties, the Hi-Power is drop safe because the firing pin is blocked until the trigger is pulled. The beauty of the magazine safety is the when the army or police group is done for the day and in the locker room, removing the magazine prevents accidental discharges. I purchased a trigger pull reduction spring kit from Cylinder & Slide, Inc. item CS0025B. This worked wonders on the trigger which was much harder out of the box. It's not the magazine disconnect as so many know-it-alls will tell you.

    I did pick up my Girsan MC P35, and recently rewatched your video. I had to get mine out of the safe and check, but mine doesn't have the "deformity" you mentioned. I've only got a couple hundred rounds through it, with no malfunctions at all. I did have to take a sight pusher and push the front sight toward the center, but to tell you the truth, I'm not sure if it came from the factory off center, or if it worked loose. I'll keep an eye on it in the future. The only other thing I "don't like" about it is I ordered a black/silver one, but apparently they were out of stock, so I "settled" fora flat desert earth one. The color has grown on me, as have the black rubber grips I didn't think I'd care for. All in all I'm quite happy with it.

    ... great review, I picked up one today, it’s in the FDE color. I’m a big Hi-Power fan and was eagerly awaiting one to come to my area, and now it’s in my collection ...

    That "malformation" on the side of the frame matches my WW2 era Inglis Hi-Power pretty well. My full size Girsan and the PI model (horter bar/slide) match yours as well, but my P35 PI LW has a straight, crisp line like your Browning.

    Great video. A Girsan Hi Power with an optic ready rear sight panel just became available in Commiefornia, sonof course I ordered one, as they sold out the first day. Very excited. I learned to shootnon my Uncle's Hi Power. FYI, I highly recommend getting the Pachmayr wrap around (removable backstrap panel) Signature grips. He had them on his, and I already have a pair for when my pistol arrives. The Pachmayrs give great texture and aid in grip retention all 360 degrees of the grips. Hope yr well, Sir! Keep the great videos coming!

    Your views on girsan are on point well said.
    Browning was only involved with the very first part of the hi power. The hi power was mostly designed by Dieudonna Saive I'm only saying this because he never gets the credit he deserves. I guess that's what happens when you work under the greatest John Moses Browning.

    I have been looking for several months into one of these reproductions. I first saw the Springfield. Man was hyped and excited! Then of course learned that EAA had the Girsan, and made a funny promo play taken from Springfield. Which pissed SA off and I think they filed a lawsuit. Seems I recall EAA announced their Girsan first .
    Then SA hit the market and people were buying them up selling them for over twice the msrp. I’ve always hated sellers that do this! I don’t like it one bit. Seems like SA is still having issues with their offering.
    I told myself several months ago I will probably pick up the Girsan. At first, it was hard to find. You are now starting to see more of them. They have been marked up $100-200, or thereabouts. I have been stalling getting one.
    Finally, I broke down and got for $519. My thoughts were it will probably not be any less expensive. Jump! I looked hard at the two tone. Came close to getting. Then pondered the desert earth . I got the all blue.
    Great review. I haven’t picked up my pistol yet. Not sure I like the stock grips. What’s your opinion on them? I also am not sure if any hi power grip will fit because of the ambidextrous safety. Do you know?

    • @TheJimminiShow
      @TheJimminiShow  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you for the comment. The high-power I was using for comparison in the video was an original Browning that had been upgraded with the ambidextrous safety. That one is using stock grips on it. I didn't try changing the grips out, but it looks like they are in the same location. I don't mind the group that comes with, but there are better options out there a pair of LOK GrIps would be nice

    9:09 I can't believe the mags won't pop out of these Girsan models. You subtly grabbed it and pulled it out, and a combat pistol should not have to have the mag pulled out in this fashion. I've tested this on several display models in the case at the local gun stores, and sadly, Girsan just didn't get it right. This is why I won't buy one.

    • @OhioCruffler
      @OhioCruffler 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It takes about 7 minutes to remove the magazine disconnect safety. That fixes the mag drop, improves the trigger feel, and removes the mag safety.

  • @TheRobman139
    @TheRobman139 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    How did you cycle the slide for the trigger reset test with the magazine in? Doesn’t the empty mag lock the slide back?

    • @TheJimminiShow
      @TheJimminiShow  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the question. I actually had to rewatch the video. You can usually reset the Hammer with 75 to 80% pullback on the slide without engaging the slide lock. However in this particular instance, all I did was hold down the slide lock. You can do that while holding the trigger down and it will cycle the gun and reset the trigger even with the magazine in

    Since the mag safety was not on the 1911 and everyone was satisfied that the 1911 worked great that way I would guess that his intent was not to have one on the p35 but someone after his death thought it was necessary.The phisolophies then are not those of today.Therefore the mag safety is not a stupid mechanization but appears to a mirror image in function that is desirable to many

    • @TheJimminiShow
      @TheJimminiShow  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem with a Magazine safety is that it IS pointless. The sole purpose of a gun is to Fire a bullet. Adding complexity to the process does nothing to increase safety. The person most likely to be hurt by a mag safety is the gun owner when they get shot when they couldnt even fire the round in the gun. That is the very definition of STUPID. Having a solution to aproblem that didnt exist until you created the solution is asinine.

    • @kimisdaman
      @kimisdaman ปีที่แล้ว

      Just like a lot of the other details of the Hi-Power, the magazine disconnector was specified by the client for which the HP was intended, the French. The gun sat on the shelf for a few years after the French rejected it, but the Belgians didn't change it before adoption in '35, so they're just as much to blame for the presence of the disconnector!
