It's a simple answer to understand what Buprenorphine Withdrawl is like. Buprenorphine is a partial Opiate and the withdrawals are similar to any opiate.

EVERY PAIN PATIENT AN EVERY ADDICT ON EARTH knows that Buprenorphine withdrawal is an absolute nightmare in length of time compared to heroin ,morphine or any other strong opiate .
Methadone an Buprenorphine enslaves people more then any other opiate directly because of the lengthy time it takes to leave the body .
What crappy studies are you saying support your claims, that heroin withdrawal is worse and longer then Buprenorphine ?
the half life and binding affinity of Buprenorphine speaks for itself on how terrible this drug is .
stop lying to people , NO person that has tried both will agree with you .
we all know why you prefer Buprenorphine .

@@mp-uy9sv I am sorry you do not have any idea what you are talking about. I will tell you what, given the fact that you feel so strongly about this, I am willing to discuss it with you on a show, live, and hopefully educate you. When you come on here and give such strong non-sensical opinions about what you have no idea what you are talking about someone may read it and die. I weaned myself off rather rapidly. From 16mg to 1-2mg in a matter of two months because of cost. I had no choice to go any slower. My life situation changed unexpectedly. I bulked up on high quality vitamins, especially vitamin C. I truly believe that made a difference. Also lots of water. It’s been a week since my last dose. I finally left my house yesterday. I think I’m going to make it. #WeDoRecover

I tapered myself down from 16mg to .5mg, in a matter of 2 weeks(I don't recommend such a fast taper). It was brutal, but doable if you really want it. I'm now at day 25, and doing pretty good. I started sleeping at around the 3 week mark, with the help of Melatonin. I went through 60 hours of major withdrawal, after my last .5mg dose. After that, every day kept getting easier. The only problems I have right now are... Lack of energy, anxiety, feeling cold and hot, sensitivity to light, and sneezing. Once you reach the 3 week mark, you got it beat. I make myself exercise throughout the day, and I stay away from caffeine, and stimulates. I've found that my lack of energy, is really more a lack of motivation. Once I make myself get started doing something, I'm fine. I went 4 wheeler riding yesterday for 4 hours, and then slept like a rock last night. DO NOT just sit around, and be lazy! Wear your muscles down, and it will help you rest. Also, get outside as much as possible. It helps TREMENDOUSLY!!! Remember... Laying around, and feeling bad for yourself only makes it worse. Beating this takes drive, and motivation. I did it, and I'm NEVER turning back. You can do it, too. I hope that some of my advice helps someone...

@@jason.aldridge5004 I tried to quit cold turkey after a year of opiate abuse, but the withdrawals were horrendous.
So I decided, and I just had my first weekly injection of Buvidal today, which I feel is more potent than the opiates I was taking previously.
On the first day after the injection, I am gently scratching my entire body and feeling fantastic, yet not euphoric. However, I am frightened of becoming addicted to it.
What is "Liposomal Vitamin C" stuff all about? Please elaborate if you know.
Is going cold turkey a wise idea? If that's the case, when should I do it?

I've experienced a lot of withdrawals. Nothing has come close to how terrifying Suboxone was. The stuff you read on the Internet is not False like you claimed. Everyone is different I'm sure of, but for a lot of people this withdrawal lingers around for almost over a month, and even after a month I still felt crazy in the head. It took almost 2 months just to feel somewhat normal again. I was on it for a year and a half and quit cold turkey, however. I literally felt like I was a prisoner in my own mind. The anxiety along with the panicky feelings made me want to end my life just to escape it all. The body aches, chills, sweating, stomach pain, etc lasted for two weeks as well. So for me, yes it was as terrible as it comes, and while Suboxone did help me with my addictions....I never want to go through that again and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

You say you need a professional but I’ve been to three different doctors- who don’t know anything about this mediation-
Had no interest in trying to help me in any way and only wanted to see me perscribe and get me out- I saw on physician for one year and he did not ask me once if I wanted to taper or if I had problems at all. I’m also in LA, it should be easy to find a doctor here that knows what they are talking about but I have not found one yet and I’m not the only one with this issue- a lot of people I’ve spoken too have said the same things! I’m glad though that you are a doctor that seems to be versed in suboxone and cares for the patient and helps them taper- but I don’t think there are that many like you.

I feel like as an addict , when you are ready to quit something , you are ready to quit. The mental aspect i think is 95% of the battle. I just decided one day to quit the suboxone from still taking 8mg/day. The withdrawal was terrible for about 25 days then gradually the depression got better over the course of a month or 2 after the acute period... but my mind was already made up 100% that i was stopping and really believed it. I know the doctors will taper you down and help you out, but I really was ready to quit and just did on my own and told my doctor about it 10 days into it. Thank you for sharing this information!! I’m currently in the midst of trying to get off suboxone. Much of the “information” online says that the withdrawal is MUCH WORSE than normal opioid withdrawal…. but most of that info is coming from non medical sources. But hearing it from you, a medical professional, is a little relief to hear. So thank you for being clear. I’m doing this “detox” with no one knowing that I’m on it, and have been on it. I WAS an opiate addict for 15yrs, and on suboxone for the past 5yrs. I’m scared!!!!!!! But I know it is what is needed for me to be the best version of myself, getting AND STAYING CLEAN. I don’t have a personal doctor to talk to. I couldn’t afford to. I’m doing this on my own and I’m happy to have found your channel!! I felt a tiny prick of hope in what you said…….. I’m trying my hardest…… but I’m human I’m fallible……. I wish I could visit a specialist like you! Hey there. I'm currently on day 13 of coming off 24mg bup. I just had enough couldn't be bothered to taper I missed the chemist on a bank holiday weekend went 3 days without a dose and decided to go cold turkey. I'd just had enough and wanted my life back after 14 years of opiates. I've found immense mental strenth and courage and embraced the pain and today I feel good. I feel totally alive today like I've got new senses I haven't used before. I'm going shopping taking my akita out 3 times a day and all I feel like now is that I have a bad cold. I had spanish flu when I was 18 and withdrawal is nowhere near as bad as that. To be honest it's purely a mental game and if you embrace it and think of how good your life will become off it it's easier done. I hope your clean and you managed to rebuild your life. Nobody needs a drug to shut the world out anymore theres so many choices and I'm looking forward to them.

Im on day eighty something now and I feel great! I was always for Suboxone MAT but now that I’m off of it I realize how much that medication messed with me. I can actually feel life again and it’s so worth it. While I agree tapering to a super low dose is probably the better way to do it but that’s not possible for everyone so this way works too!

I get it man, was in the same spot, I tapered down to .25ish mg, 2 2mg pills for a month, that’s it. 2 weeks taking .25, then the last 2 weeks taking it a day on day off. Then 2 days off 1 day on, then stopped.
WD’s were similar to a really light perc WD, physical lasted like 2 weeks, was able to sleep. I was working on a fuckin miserable foundation for a house, I think the very intense physical work helped with the sleep. I had some rsl, little body aches, minor insomnia, general discomfort, stomach a little upset at times. But it worked.
Was off it for 4 years. Fucked up because I hurt my back and stress, gotta go through it again, just gotta choose to do it. It’s definitely possible.
If you jump at 4mg to 2mg, ITLL BE HELL. Stayed up 6 days straight one time with all the major symptoms in the book. I can’t do it that way.

I am 1 month sober now, was put on buprenorphine by my doctor and was advised to slowly taper it. I’ve been off of buprenorphine for about 5 days today( after tapering it for a month) , the withdrawals are there, no sleep , runny nose, pain. But it’s not as bad as the actual opioid withdrawal. I workout everyday, I stay positive, there’s not much mental withdrawals just physical ones and I think I can do this. I hope I can do this on my own and with the help of the almighty. If truth weren't a thought crime, everyone would know that kicking smack for good is a walk in the park in comparison with 8mg/day or more Bupe (properly tapered). I've got dozens of friends who would not at all disagree. The prescribed dose is generally obscenely too high, & Drs wonder how/why so much is diverted. It's accumulative effect is something Drs are clueless about. It works great to help you get off heroin, but after being on bupe for 15yrs, it has all the worst side effects of a full agonist, without any buzz. How many smack addicts would there be if it gave no relief & only made you constipated & impotent? Why do smack users endure so much hell? Because it works. But like any drug, everything has its ups & downs & sideways & inside outs.

This is why the Mutulu Shakur (Tupacs father) is still sitting in jail today, now dieing of bone cancer. He had opened a free clinic that only used acupuncture to get & keep people clean. They can't have people who are legitimately saving lives everyday...especially not so easy & completely free. Man had no clue & no part in what he's serving 60yrs for. God forbid someone help save people that are trying to help their community, from the heart. I like Pacs music but I got legit love & respect for Mutulu. 🙏🏾

This guy has no idea what he's talking about. The withdrawals are not as intense as heroin withdrawal, that part is correct, but Heroin/Fentanyl withdrawal lasts about 2 weeks before the worst is completely over and its just mental, suboxone takes about 30 days before you can even start sleeping a few hours a night and your skin isnt crawlimg off all day. I weened myself down to an 8th of an 8mg strip a day and still took me 60 days to feel halfway normal again.

Umm..my persoal experience with coming off both heroin (cold turkey) and bup is quite opposite of what you are saying. Coming off heroin was for me 5 days in hell but after that i started to feel like myself again. Ofcourse there where some lingering effekt for weeks after. Bup however is a differrent story. While not as intense, it lasts way longer. RLS for up to a month.. insomnia with zero sleep for 15 days at the most for me. Also extreme fatigue and dissosiation for weeks..and absolutly no hunger. Im not trying to bash the medicine, it saved my life probably. But for me at least, even with proffessional help weening off it took me 11 years to finally be able to do it.

The best method to quit opioid addiction, with no cold turkey is: Start with comfortable dose of suboxone ( use the film not the pill ) at your own pace cut it in half then 1/4- 1/8 1/16. Until you have reduced it it to as little as 1/32 of a dose. Then switch to a comfortable dose of Tramadol. Reduce it one pill a day at your own pace. At this point you can stop with little or no discomfort.

You may not feel motivated to do it but if you do trust me it can help. Even if it’s just pushups every night to start, just start. The soar feeling you get from working out your muscles kind of take over your mind on the pain you maybe experiencing from withdrawal. I hope this helps someone. Also listen to meditation or uplifting music for your mental. You have to also help yourself throughout the process.

      Dr.B,
To further elobrate let's say the people in the US specifically who are everyday productive citizens of society, normal to some extent social behaviors , and are prescribed full opiate antognists have built up physical tolerance to there dosages and gradually increased not for the sake of euphoria but for the same therupatic outcome and are ashamed due to social stigmas or labeling of how they might be perceived as addict when the reality is maybe this is expectant behavior of the medication and there doctor failed to explain that any use for chronic pain will build a physical dependancy , patients are not informed that the CDC has a tapering plan of 10% reduction monthly and physicians are reducing the patient by 30% every month. Causing patients discomfort.... And I thank you for your reply I greatly appreciate the positive conversation regarding this matter.

I was up to about 8mg a day and have tried to taper down, I went 5 days clean but that 5th day broke me as a human. I HAD to alleviate the fucking leg and back pain. So I did a tiny bit. Maybe 0.5mg and I slept like a baby that night. Now I'm again on day 2 and can feel the pain starting to seep back in, and if I can't sleep I'll have to see myself to the plate again and dose up. Did it seem to reset for you? Were you successful at coming off them? Regardless, I wish you the best my friend. Hang in there, we can make it. We WILL make it.

I'm a Pharmacist... I have had a compliant patient reduce over 1.year from 24mg Suboxone to 0.4mg Subutex 5 days ago. Came in over weekend and was authorised 2 "take away " doses where he said he'd reduce for 2 days halving the 0.4 to 0.2 my dose then quarter the final tablet... So 4 final days on 0.1mg then stop... I advised him to check in and advise his progress over the week. He's a clever, intelligent guy who's very goals oriented (completing a Masters Degree ATM). At day 2 of the final taper he's more fatigued but coping with everything. Just a mild headache, yawning and occasional sneezing... Less cold tolerance but it's freezing here anyway right now.
Interesting too, is that he says keeping busy and participating moreso in things is helpful... I'll hopefully get an update in 3 or 4 days and will add here. Drinking Tonic water and L-tyrosine added to coffee helps apparently for him.
This is not advice, merely commentary....

My personal experience.. I was on 32mgs/day of Suboxone(after being put on pain meds after an accident). I was told I could never get off & no dr/specialist would help me wean down after having neck surgery. So, I weaned myself off over 7yrs. I wish I had known what I was in store for! I wish I had only 6days or even 6wks of acute withdrawals.. the physical pain(which is HELL) didn’t even start to diminish til over a year off the Subs & then the post acute withdrawal hit HARD!! I have never had Any mental disorders previous.. it’s been 2&1/2yrs now since I detoxed completely off subs & im still in PAWS. The psychological withdrawals are horrific, even still. I’ve been told by a neuro-addiction specialist that it takes upwards of 4yrs for the brain to heal & start producing natural dopamine. I still have the physical, but it comes in waves & it’s bearable. I’ve never had cravings for the drug itself nor have I ever abused any medication/drug.
Where are the researchers out there who have studied patients who’ve been put on buprenorphine for EXTENDED Long periods of time & actually gotten off & stayed off Suboxone?!
Oh, and why are we not told that buprenorphine is the cause of major dental issues? 😢

The issue is with getting help from a dr is most insurances don’t pay for a dr visit or meds. So most can’t afford a $200 doctor visit then pay the $800 for the meds so of course they get them off the street. If there was a way ppl could get the help they need at a reasonable price more would be under a doctors care.

Anxiety, overthinking..etc. I have been on methadone 5 times years ago. My question is should i just keep withdrawing, till i feel better (or take like not even a quarter of one?) to feel a bit better? Or maybe im going the wrong way about it...

im on buprenorphine for 6 years now, always bought from the street, no doctor would prescribe me anything, i started at 12 mg and got down to 4mg on my own, now im on day 4 without it from 4mg to 0 due to lockdown. I see this as a chance to get off of it forever even though it hurts. Some people are able to use this substance as intendended and/or have no other way to live a normal life without buying it on the street. If you have the dicipline to get off of heroin, oxys or whatever, if you dont have medical helb and no doctor in your region has any clue nor want to help you, do it on your own, you can do its absolute BS that you cant do it on your own. If you've encountered the horrors of heroin or even the full time mind game of opiate based medication, this medication is very effective as it's serves only as a blocker if taken properly.
Once you've discovered opiates the craving never leaves you, suboxone removes the fixation, allows you to function normally and ensures you don't subtly slide towards opiates

My doctor is not real knowledgeable on the taper topic. I suffer with anxiety and take 2mg of Clonazepam as needed. I wanted to try starting a 2mg taper until I feel under control at that level. I’m a very unique situation but would really like to become opiate free and then work on the Clonazepam. I know finding another doctor would help but not many doctors that would prescribe both meds I am taking. I have never used street drugs or put a needle in my arm. So they have my family mainly my wife that this drug is not good for me. I don’t smoke or drink. Like I said never have done any street drugs. Just lost Dr B with trying maybe to convince my family that this drug is not hurting me or my body. I feel so guilty for taking the Subutex they have me feeling like an addict. I recently had a mix up with my insurance coverage, and was unable to get my 20mcg patches, on a holiday 3 day weekend. I went for 5 days, without the prescription patch. I take this for autoimmune related chronic pain. By day 3, I seriously felt that death would be a relief. All due to a billing error. This has put the fear of God in me, and I'd like to try to taper off. It's easy to say we must work with our docs for this process, but I have experienced doctors who pull patients off opiods way too fast, or even cold turkey, if you tell them you are concerned about withdrawal. Drs. are so afraid of the consequences FOR THEM, and their licensing, especially when the opioid crisis first came to light. My former doctor was awful about this.

2:30 Less severe yes, but certainly not less amount of time. Bupe withdrawal is much longer (length of time) than heroin and oxycodone. 100% facts. The symptoms are not as bad. Oxycodone withdrawal makes you not want to get out of bed. Bupe withdrawal sucks but you can still "function" somewhat. Oxycodone is an intense withdrawal lasting about 7 days. Bupe withdrawal is a medium withdrawal lasting at least 14 days, probably closer to 30 days (for physical symptoms, and then mental symptoms are the rest of your life).

I was on Suboxone 24mg for 3 years. The first question I'd like to ask: are there an studies on longterm buprenorphine treatment, its longterm effectiveness and relapse rates? In my experience and from what I've heard from friends, after a few years the body seems to reject it and lose effect (not just tolerance levels being high). I was cruising for two years and I got my life back: I was back in school again, working out three times a week and running daily. I had my own apartment and everything was wonderful. Then it seemed like the buprenorphine stopped working or its saturation effect on the opiate receptors stopped completely.
I started craving drugs and opiates in particular. The suboxone simply wasn't enough, even though it should have been and indeed had been for so long. Are there any studies on this and what might the reason be
Anyway, about the withdrawals... It was hell. Like being dopesick for three months. The immediate withdrawal symptoms were hell, sure, but the worst was the post acute withdrawal symptoms. Cold sweats, diarrhea, a general feelikg of unease and worst of all were the restless legs. It kept me wide awake all night, when I tried falling asleep or did finally fall asleep I would wake up because of my restless legs. This all continued for months. I was being held under a law here in Sweden that allows for forceful treatments of addicts that are a danger to themselves or others. Basically they lock you up for 6 months inside a jail, the glass panes are indestructible, everyone wears a prison uniform, you don't get to have personal possessions or a phone and you can't go outside. So basically it's prison reserved for the heaviest drug abusers that are about to die from drugs, I write this because this is where I detoxed from sub. Had I been on the outside I most definitely would have started using H again. It is unbearable. I have detoxed from methadone after this and it comes nowhere near the sub WD.
Clean for 7 years now 😁💪

And when did you experience addiction, careless doctors who don’t really care and support organizations that insert one into an endless cycle of referrals and rejections? Have you come off an opiate with one of the longest half-lives of any opiate?
It may be nice to cite clinical studies, but after a certain age, I have noticed, people like me less and less and encourage me to stay on what is easiest for them, not me.
Most people who say they “care” are being paid to do so. Once one is alienated from their children, workplace and is socially isolated, withdrawals are dangerous. Especially when “professionals” want me to stay on the crap which has helped to ruin my life for the past 11 years.
The assumption that after “only” two years the person will go straight back to a needle or I prescribed painkillers is a risk worth taking. Better to go back on Suboxone, than stay on it for a lifetime.
Suboxone affects the mind, it makes one unemotional, or over-emotional. It is not a solution for the user, only for the “professionals” who don’t want to put the energy in helping solve the real problem of addiction, the decision that reality avoidance is better than reality itself.
What do I know though? I have only been a poly drug abuser for 40 years, with some sobriety in between. Just enough to fix my life, and destroy it again, over and over. There comes a point where one starts to think the benefits of life do not outweigh the misery of the future.

I took my last dose of Suboxone 48 hours ago. I'm having some body aches, and restlessness. But, this isn't as bad as coming off of opiates. Maybe the worst is yet to come... I realize that Subs have a much longer half life, so maybe it isn't completely out of my system yet. I've gotta do this, because I wanna make my CDL license. They changed the law, and now will not accept someone that has Bupe in their system. I'm laid off right now, so I can just stay home, and suffer through it.

I know I should have tapered off but I was under pressure from my family to quit. Also, never used heroin or abused my medications. But I have been on bup patches for about 4 years.
