I was thinking the exact same thing. I remember playing extreme, and if I recall correctly there are almost no rations and after about three hits you're gone. So you pretty much have to learn to take no damage on boss fights if you want to actually finish the game
There is actually. Some attacks don't one shot you at full hp like the machine gun. And if you're lucky you might get a ration from one of the guards by repeatedly lifting them up.
One thing I love about Konami is that they always picked the greatest voice actors. My 3 favorites have always been David Hayter, John Cygan, & Cam Clarke. Solidus wouldn’t be Solidus without John. His voice makes him sound so intimidating.
Thanks for this... I learned some valuable tips in this vid, but I developed my own strategy for the rapid fire missiles. I simply cartwheeled back and forth on the lower level and he never hit me. I tell you though, Otacon is a bad pilot... I swear he was getting in my way on purpose...
Tips: Flip on railing when he says dieeeeeee When he's shooting machine gun, go on bottom level and use box + cover Missile barrage: cover on wall and peek and shoot continousely When he says: I'll let you go out in style shoot one missle then take cover on the centre thing
Finally!!! Thanks man! Your tactic helped me alot!! Although i messed up but after the missle spam it becomes a case of rinse and repeat. He bullets spams then lauches missles that seek you and then missle spam but he only shoot lile 6 max (easy to dodge compared to the first spam) and then repeat. Giving you a better chance to beat him. Again thanks!!

02:16 Ah, this is useful. The "walking up and down the stairs" strategy isn't foolproof on extreme, you need to get lucky. Also, staying on the top for the "burn baby!" is a great idea, on extreme he stops it immediately if you're on the lower platform, so you can't shoot him from the bottom of the stairs like other difficulties. You just can't afford to make any mistakes with the cartwheel. The machine gun fire is actually pretty easy to avoid by just walking around one of the tube thingys. Had to do that a couple of times when I didn't have the time to go below (the Kasatka is what will screw up your timing most of the time, either by getting on the way of your Stinger or the general camera angle).
I always laughed at Solidus trying to talk shit during this fight like "I'll let you go out in style!" Like, dude. You are in a HARRIER JET, and you are getting your ass kicked by a whiny femboy in a diving suit who's shooting rockets at you. That's not a scenario where you get to act tough or talk shit lol

What I don't get is how you knew he was going to do the "burn" thing as opposed to the bomb drop thing. It seems he always drops bombs on me then so I'm always too late to dodge them. I did eventually get it though. I finally figured out that if he goes low he'll be doing the burn thing and high is bombs. After that it was quite easy. I also didn't get hit!

Finally got it done. What made all the difference for me during the machine gun segment was equipping a box. Quicker turning radius, lower position, and slightly better camera angle, it seemed. Thanks for a great video! It was very helpful.
I think this is The harderst boss on Euroopan Extreme. Vamp only has 1 oneshot move and most of his moves are predictable. Rays Is long and every attack 1shots you but but theyre all easy to dodge
This could be a fun challenge, if not being ruined by the fucked up camera angle, overly narrow passages that makes Raiden keeps sticking to the wall and the bad FPV control for the stinger
Really annoying thou stealth doesn’t work for bosses like. N you’ve got to complete it in different modes like 3 times for dog tags. I’ve got bandanna for snake n wig for radian
You almost have to get no damage because the damage is so inconsistent in this fight. Sometimes a missile kills me, sometimes it takes only half of your life.
lol,wow,im terribe at this game but it took me 8 tries on hard at least ^^ Guess once you learn the attack pattern of these bosses they just become a matter of your fingers keeping up with what your brain knows is coming
You're either playing on European Extreme which does not allow any radar period to be used, or you haven't activated the node in Sector E I think it is? Either way, I do have a playthrough without radar on my channel on Extreme on my Big Boss Rank Playthrough. I only have it on here so people can get a good grasp of how the enemy moves
It was the node in D. Apparently it didn't save the dog tags I got there, and the node. I finished the harrier fight finally, but wondering if there is any way to get rations? I am about to tackle the sniper alley part...
If you're referring to when you're covering Emma with sniper fire, you don't need any rations as you won't take any fire. I believe the game replenishes your health bar once you finish that section.
I know that, I was talking about because you the Tengus, and the Non-stop Metal Gears....I only used one ration, and that is in the Fatman fight. On than that, got one ration for the entire rest of the game.
The machine gun is the worst part, also when you dodge those many rockets in raw, he'll stop for a while, you can't shoot him as he'll be dodging too much only 2 or 1 will hit :/ wonder how many continues until I beat it on extreme
The good thing about taking cover where I did is it blocks the first couple bullets, giving you time to see the direction of fire and cover accordingly.
If you go to top of the stair set to the far left of the battle area right when the harrier flies off to prep for this attack and wait, you'll hear him taunt you immediately before shooting. When he taunts, this where you start running for dear life, keeping Raiden as close to railing as possible and cartwheeling most of the way. Do not just run, you have to cartwheel most of the time as it boosts you forward. You pretty much follow the rail around the tank near the right stair set and end up by the stair case that takes you to the lower level. In essence, you're sort of J walking with cartwheels.
Jda4160 It is on extreme, and as long as you pay close attention to the direction of the gunfire, it is pretty obvious where to hide so that it hits your cover instead of you.
+Terminimal The hovering attack occurs if you damage the harrier so much by a certain point in the fight. (Remember, I immediately got 3 or 4 missiles into it at the very beginning) and I did not take damage because I shot enough missiles into it before it got low enough to burn me, both segments only require speedy reactions, not low difficulties. The cluster bomb segment occurs when the harrier is at half meter. I wanted the hovering thruster attack so I can eliminate it quicker, when going for the Big Boss rank, you're pretty strapped for time in these fights.

Suddenly, there was intense light all around me, and when I came to...I was home. What do you think happened to me? Fine, forget it.

Nah, your technique is far too risky. You can get stuck against the transformers or cartwheel too early or late and risk getting hit.

at 1:35 why wasn't there a mini cutscene when he drops the bombs? I saw one other player not get the cutscene either and I have no idea why.
Barbara Cordone because it's on Extreme. The bombs make impact immediately whereas on lower difficulties you get time to cover.
Best defense is Jumping into Hanging from the railing at the right moment.

You have to damage him do much by a certain period during the battle. That's how I knew.
everything here matched my style except for the fact I couldn't dodge the rockets and I used hanging mode to evade the missiles.

Once you're in Arsenal Gear which is where this takes place, you're pretty much dependent on Snake for those items.

It's not extreme, you make a lot of damage to harrier..
The save file says Extreme whether you believe it or not.
