6 Neck Exercises for Your Thyroid Gland

  • Can certain exercises help your thyroid gland function? Not in a direct way but perhaps in an indirect way! And that's exactly what these neck exercises are designed to do.
You can indirectly support thyroid function by exercising your neck which can help in a number of different ways:
#1. Neck exercises can help improve blood flow to the area of your neck. Working out the muscles in your neck will increase blood flow to the musculature itself. Your thyroid will benefit due to its proximity to these muscles.
#2. Neck exercises help improve venous outflow out of your thyroid gland. Bringing new blood into your neck will mean blood must flow out of it!
#3. Neck exercises can help improve lymphatic flow OUT of your neck. The lymphatic system is designed to help carry waste products away from your cells so your body can eliminate them. Exercising muscles is known to improve this system.
#4. Neck exercises can bring balance to the musculature of the neck and help with things like tension headaches, trigger points, and neck pain.
The following 6 neck exercises (as demonstrated in the video) can be used each day to indirectly benefit your thyroid gland.
Each exercise should be used for 30 seconds one after another for a total of 3 minutes.
I've named the exercises but you should check out the video demonstration so you can see how they are performed.
    The 6 exercises include:
    #1. The up down.
    #2. The side to side.
    #3. Shake your head no.
    #4. Forward head pulse.
    #5. Horizontal head slide.
    #6. Around the world.
Give these neck exercises a try to see if you can improve your posture, improve blood flow to your head and neck, and indirectly support your thyroid!

Thank you for putting this video up it really does work I have been practising the exercises for over a year I add organic walnut oil to stroke my neck in a downwards movement for 20 times then carry on with the rest of the exercises shown I do this five times a week every morning as soon as I get out of bed religiously I also think this really helps with dowagers neck hump. I was so distraught when the Dr said he wanted me to start thyroid meds that I researched and read up on it and to this day I have NEVER HAD TO TAKE ANY MEDICATION AT ALL however if I stop I can tell and my levels rise so I am more than happy to keep practising this exercise every day if it keeps me off meds. It makes sense what you say about stretching the area to allow old blood flow out and new in to nourish the thyroid. I hope if anyone is reading this you will give it a go because it really works. I also practice Gi-gong 5 times a week. Get stretching everyone. Thank you Dr Childs.

Great practical info Dr C ... I'm on it :) ... thanks for all the work you do ... I think my thyroid issue is to do with grieving over a loss ... I would like to see some info on that subject ... I still find it hard to believe that the body can react so indifferently to a psychiatric condition such as grief ... that being said ... so many of your vids have been extremely helpful ... thanks again.

@@AsAWhiteManMarriedToALatina Hi ... Yes ... the exercises definitely help ... to the point that if I don't do them for a few days I do not feel as well ... that goes for meditation and light yoga too ... going low carb and focusing on gut health has also helped me ... I have only noticed some minor crunching of my neck muscles and tissues when doing these exercises ... which I have always noticed when doing head and neck exercises ... no clicking of the Adam's Apple ... which I hope is a good sign :) ... your information has been very helpful during this difficult heath dip I've been going through ... thanks again doc ; ... much love and appreciation.

Hi ! Have started listening to your videos, very helpful. Unfortunately I disagree on the final ex : spinning your head like this, is not done in yoga anymore. It’s actually dangerous for the spine. I got this through Larry Payne, a master Yoga teacher. Please check this out. I’d appreciate 🙏. Some of the other ex. I teach to my senior chair yoga students. Good to know this extra benefit.
