With my own restoration project dragging on due to time and money restraints, I am always refreshed and inspired by people like Dave and Margaret, and, of course, George. John Bethel, Missouri, USA
I’m so addicted to these shows. I’ve been binge watching for a week now. This is probably my most interesting build to watch yet. The most beautiful landscapes ever there! I love the concept of what they will be trying to achieve A couple of lucky people right there. Ok enough of this back to this show lol. Hello from Boston MA USA also.
Aloha from Taos, NM; I am moving from Maui, Hawaii to Scotland, so these shows are my work, as I am so excited to take on some derelict treasure to make my own farm home somewhere in Scotland. These shows are pure gold, and the people, so wonderful! Maybe I can share my journey once I get there! For my future "Regenerative Garden Forest Farm Cottage..."
I was thinking one could look up THUM's MILL, and find out that way, possibly. I need follow ups as I find the time spent with these incredible people, in every episode, is very moving, and helps me feel connected not only to them, but to my own dreams of demonstrating their level of courage in my own Reno build!
It is now 2021. I looked through tourist and whitewater videos to see if the water wheel was finished. I saw it. It's there. I would love to visit that area. Beautiful!
He’s so much nicer than the guy who does grand designs. George always holds out hope that it will work and looks on the bright side whereas the guy thta does grand designs puts the buildings and people down constantly
@@jenniferlloyd9245 I love how George often says this is his "favorite," again. I just love him, and his bringing these shows/life adventures to life and sharing them so well.
Is there (or will there be) an update episode? This is by far the most thrilling restauration, a faboulous building on a remarquable natural site! And what a lovely couple! I admire their "it takes what it takes", no compromise to go faster or cheaper in the building process. And the result shows it ! I really would like to see the finished mill in- and outside... (...if they want to show their living space, after all it's privat!)
Stunning project. Beautiful property in all seasons. I cannot wait for you to return when finished. Christmas will be stunning. Congratulations to this tenacious and deserving couple.
What a lovely, inspirational restoration. Congratulations to this Family on such an amazing achievement. Best wishes for good health & prosperity to Dave and Margaret.
Beautiful job. Just wondering, nine years on, how the dear woman is coping with the utter lack of disability provisions in the house... Hope the Council, etc, have allowed them to make the necessary changes. Praying, that she is in fact still mobile and able to enjoy their lovely home.
Why anyone wouldn't listen to George's ideas, is beyond me. George just gets in and helps, love it. Gorgeous setting, yet, I would worry about flooding. The archive room, George visited, doesn't look fire proof, really is scary that they hadn't done something to shore up that possibility. Too bad they don't revisit this restoration. We need an update.
Indeed a great build so far and would be nice to see the result. On the other side this guy is crazy for doing this, how many times have they been flooded and more important how many more will there be. I grew up near here and there is a good reason that it stood empty for so long. His heart definitely ruled his head on this one, good luck to them.
Absolutely beautiful idyllic home, reminds me of the Christmas cards we would get in sunny South Africa after never having seen a whiff of snow and certainly never an ancient mill on a bubbling river. Stunning location and restoration.
I was suitably amazed with the documents room in the Percy / Northumberland castle. I do hope there is adequate security as well as fire suppression to protect all that most valuable history. I don't imagine that those documents have been copied in any manner. Take care of them.
Brilliant episode, sad though that so many amazing buildings in Britain get into such disrepair, thankfully insightful people restore them , with blood, sweat and money, 🛠🦺♥️
Wonderful restoration, I was concerned about the scaffolding when they had the weight of the men AND the chimney on it though! Cannot seem to view update and would loved to have seen water wheel in place and George comments on the final finished work, well done folks, fabulous job all round!
@@derekstocker6661 I suppose they've blocked the concluding part of it in the UK so they can earn further money off it either on repeat fees, satellite channels or DVD sales
When was this originally published? When did this couple purchase this amazing property? I admire them beyond the moon and back. Add to my bucket list that I would love to see it one day. 🙂

This couple gave the watermill back its dignity. Best restoration episode so far. Thank you.

"..we're reinventing the wheel...." Such a sweet couple. I am SO happy for them, and their new home and project!
This episode leaves a warm glow in your heart. George is genuinely nice guy and a great friendship developed with him and Dave and wife.
I watched an episode where George cried with the husband when he found out the wife’s cancer had come back and she was terminal
I believe he passed away himself not so long ago. It wasn't said what happened. He's still young

We had to fish the 1/2 ton wheel axle out of the river at one point though, when it slipped the ropes and shot off down the makeshift platform 😂
Thanks for this!
The Archivist so proud for his job. A nice and organized archive!

They most likely don't want to sell. And i can't afford it. But by God I so want to live there :-)
Hello George, what beautiful accent you have.
They were lucky to find another to bid on, I wonder how the two of everything went on the one they bought. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💚🥰🤗

You can bath, washing clothes, fishing too....😁
This is my favorite episode of The Restoration Man. There's a revisit episode on Tubi, I believe
Could we see the end result of the water mill
It would be cool if they got the mill running again and sold the stone ground flour in a little shop. It would sell at a premium.
those double glazed windows works well. I recently slept in a mill house... & it was always noisy which i guess u get used to
By the looks of it, Dave & Margaret now rent Thrum Mill out during the holiday seasons

Are the homeowners of the water mill worry about flooding when the river water rises?
Live there everything wet. Some mold but wet all the time and sometimes wet and cold.
It would be interesting if the people that ran that mill a long time ago where always saying that the wheel sucks and it needs a design change.
Cool!
