So everyone wondering what this looks like in the end...the school is a school with their living area above just as was planned. The headmaster home is a bed and breakfast run by the family, but the whole thing is actually running a net zero in carbon efficiency, making it the most sustainable building in Wales. It is a place that is teaching the methods used to recreate and repair existing buildings and improving on them meaning the couple did exactly what they wanted, created jobs in the local community, and built a place that will be a guide to future generations, exactly as the building has been doing for over a century.

This was beautiful for me to watch. You see I went to this school from 1965 to 1972. My three brothers and sister went there too. It was the fulcrum of the village with a well respected headmaster and teachers. Even now I still remember being in class looking out of the windows at the old motte, running round the school yard playing, singing in assembly and so many other beautiful childhood memories. Seeing the love and dedication put into this restoration gave me an inner glow. I’m so pleased that a lovely couple is living there making their own happy memories ❤️...

This is my favorite episode. The couples/owners values on restoring using green technology, giving back to the community, & training several individuals a vocation. Those individuals will be able to provide for themselves & their families.

It is admirable that far-sighted people like this couple, when hit by economic crisis, react by re-orienting their business towards green and sustainable technology. Learning from crisis to build back better, that's an example all should follow.

Of all the Restoration episodes I have watched, this one impressed me the most by far. The stone/brickwork was fabulous, the couple's positive attitude and perserverence throughout was amazing. This man's level of craftmanship was awesome, and he's passing that to the next generation. I'd love to see the finished product, including the Headmaster's House they bought in the end, sometime in the near future.

The information I found online includes reviews of the 5 bedroom B&B facilities Jayne and Ian are now operating, perhaps in the old headmaster’s house. Reviews are mainly positive with comments praising the couple for going to great lengths to please their guests, including a local chef overseeing the cooked breakfasts. They also mention a licensed bar/restaurant.
This episode was one of the most enjoyable and interesting I have seen with George Clarke hosting. I agree with your comments regarding the quality of the building and stonework. I’m so pleased for this couple.

It's difficult to describe how very much I admire the creativity, adherence to their vision, stubbornness in their refusal to give up when others would have called it quits. They accomplished something wonderful for themselves and for the community -- a wonderful place that would have been lost forever without their dedication and the courage to stick to the task. Kudos to this couple! They are a testament to the human spirit.

I love every episode of this show, which I only discovered recently. George Clarke brings so much heart and charisma to it. This particular episode touched me so deeply, I was on the edge of my seat so to speak, praying and rooting for these marvellous builders that they could fullfill their dream. The stone work is gorgeous along with the brick details. Amazing. Their restored buildings are out of a story book. I have never seen anything quite like it and they are a lovely couple. I hope the show generated some business for them because his work is unreal. The little town is idyllic as well. Of all the episodes, this was the most touching due to how genuine these people are. It is obvious George has great respect for them.

This building is sooooo lucky it found this couple. The care, commitment and attention to detail is jaw droppingly something else. I was so glad to discover that they eventually purchased the headmasters house and at a bargain price. They were soooooooo meant to have that house. Great craftsmanship and dedication to see the work through, much kudos to all involved. This particular episodeis by far the best of the best.

This moved me to tears I'll admit! Most restorations are done with the goal of creating a "dream house" or accomplishing a personal ambition, but they're thinking about the community and the actual spirit of the school. As a teacher I fully feel the importance and the meaningfulness of their plan and I have a huge appreciation for these people

This might be a moot suggestion as not all videos have Closed Captioning, but have you considered turning off the audio completely and reading the CC? I’ve noticed many complaints about the music being too loud on several different programs recently. CC isn’t perfect, I do realize that, but it’s a possibility.

I love the content; history and the new owners' love for restoration and how they manage to achieve their dreams. However, it is to bad that the background music render the subject matter extremely hard to hear. When the music stops, we who are "older" can again hear the speakers and enjoy the story. This is a case of less being better when it comes to hearing your program.

I only just started watching this... because this is YT I am soooooo tempted to skip ahead to the ending to see what has/hasn't been completed. I find it incredible that the school building was sold to them incomplete, that the headmaster's residence was a separate property, preserved as a home by someone else? Living connected to a total ruin??
EDIT: the rest of the building came up for sale (cheap) so they bought it.

Why didn't they use that reunion as a fundraising opportunity? Even small donations from the community that clearly loved the school would have made a huge difference. I know it's partially going to be a private residence but it's also still a historical renovation with community services planned as well. Seems like they could've brought the community in on it a little bit, but idk anything about Welsh law around fundraisers.

I cannot believe how much he looks like my husbands family who are from Wales. He could easily be a brother (although I know he's not.) My father in laws parents came from Wales and were Thomas'. My mother in law was a Thompson. I'm not sure when her family came over, also from Wales. I kept staring and seeing my husband, his brother or our son. Twas weird.
