    Today we finish off the interior! Since the test manual has no information on this phase of the build, I figured I'd post the video that I wish I had starting this phase. This is not instructional, merely informational on the order in which I accomplished work.

    Even though I am months behind you, this really helps me see things that I can or cannot do now. Thanks for continuing to put out quality content. Both enjoyable and informative.

      Thank you! I’m glad some folks are finding it useful. I enjoy it, but it’s a lot of work on top of a lot of work, as you know.

    I made a template of the flap handle cover shape and then used a heat gun to form the mating strip to the bend. With the strip bent to shape, it was quite easy to glue in place.

    I laughed my ass off at you glueing the part on outside of flap cover but hey I have messed up so much stuff I'm glad I'm not the only one making goofball mistakes! 😂

      Yeah probably my dumbest mistake yet out of lots. I put it in the video for your entertainment. You’re welcs

    Happy New Year Steve!!! Hope the holidays were stellar for you and your family.. I have to say, your attention to detail is phenomenal!! You are incredibly humble when it comes to talking about your skills on your build!! I can't wait to see you get that in the air!!

    Looks awesome! You might consider Dzuz fasteners for panels that are non-structural and will need to be removed "frequently". The work very nicely and are generally used on race cars in my experience but I think this could be a great application as well.

    I decided to do the interior parts before riveting on the exterior skins and I am very glad I did. It made it much easier to drill and fit not only the side plastic panels, but also the console piece and the angle that attaches to the closeout at, I think, station 3 (going on memory here). I think RANS should consider changing the sequence in the manual for this.

    • @CLEAREDDIRECT
      @CLEAREDDIRECT  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think RANS even had a sequence for this. That’s a fantastic idea to do it before skimming the cage!

    • @LTVoyager
      @LTVoyager ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CLEAREDDIRECT I guess you are correct technically as the text manual ignores it, but the parts manual has the diagrams near the end so I was using that as the “sequence.”

      @@LTVoyager ahhh. Makes sense!

    I glued the flap handle fairing strips on correctly, but it was still a bear getting them to look good. I put tape on the exposed part of the strip to keep glue off of it and tried to use a thin layer of glue, but I still got some squeeze-out that distorted the edge of the fairing above the strip and made the seam like less crisp after glueing that it was before the strip was glued on.
    I am not sure why RANS didn’t mold a joggle into one of the fairing halves so that the joggle could accept the screw through the other overlapping half and not need to mess with glueing in the strip. Seems like that would be easy with a vacuum formed part like this.

      100%. I hope they continue to refine parts like this going forward. Great tips!

    Your paralleled 1/8” jack off the co-pilot headset is likely not going to work as you expect. The impedance between line level input and the headset output are different. You’ll need an impedance adapter.

    Instead of the #6 sheet metal screws to hold that cover to the floor, how about #6 rivnuts and machine screws?

    • @CLEAREDDIRECT
      @CLEAREDDIRECT  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, it’s an option that some are doing, but the sheet metal screws seem to be fine so I’ll forgo the added weight of rivnuts for now. Easy to upgrade in the future.
