great content guys, your love for gardening and sharing your knowledge really shines through.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We really appreciate your support. We're just here doing what we love!
I look forward to that video about growing Tomatoes/Peppers/Cucumbers outside. Thankyou. I am able to grow these in my greenhouse but my sloped garden will not take a poly tunnel. An I want more of these crops.
I was feeling so smug watching this video until I saw that strawberry. How did you do that? My smugness came from the fact that I just sowed or have already germinated your May list of seeds, Including fennel! I'm sure It will never happen again.
Hi Ken, sounds as though you have every right to be smug! The strawberries grown in baskets in the poly are about 3 weeks earlier than the ones outside. Warmth is key and no frost. You could do similar in your greenhouse, just pot up some runners from your existing plants. Once taken put into hanging baskets and leave in the greenhouse overwinter where they will come into growth much earlier.
Thank you for your support and for following along with the videos. It means a lot to know that the information is useful for you!
Sprouts , broc and cauli ,carrotsalready in for this season so fingers crossed for a harvest
Nice! Can't wait to see your garden's progress. Keep us updated!
Happy sowing busy time of yr in the garden
It sure is a busy time in the garden!
Great video guys just harvesting my Japanese onions n cauliflower out of the greenhouse now just b4 tomatoes peppers n cucumbers go in. Good luk guys n happy gardening.
Hi James, great to hear from you! It won't be long before our overwintering onions are ready for harvest!
With gourds U need a good frame so they grow over it and dangle down
That's a great tip for growing gourds, thanks for sharing!
@@nodignorfolkgardener4575 any time, they can get quiet big, be quiet heavy
We have plants everywhere still in our house
I know how you feel, but very soon they will be in the ground!
Love your dog .I never see my dog until it's dinner time.
Thanks Kathy, Poppy will be happy to think she another who loves her too!
Interesting with the fennel. Charles Dowding sows in either Feb or July. Maybe that is because of the bolting. I will be having a go later in the year I think. Last year they were eaten by slugs but at least they left the beetroot.
Hi Dan, great to here from you! If you grow in a similar zone to Charles then do your sowing in July, I'll resow in July with you and we shall see what happens. However July and August are very hot dry month here in the far east. Sorry to hear they yours were eaten by slugs, disappointing!
Great video. Thanks for sharing, as a new greenhouse grower i am looking at the longer growing veg.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful for your greenhouse growing journey! When you say longer growing veg do you mean veg that overwinters?
@@nodignorfolkgardener4575 hi, yes hopefully it'll allow for starting from seed and winter veg. I have a mini polytunnel by first tunnels I plan to use to over winter some veg. Leeks, beetroot, purple sprouting broccoli etc.
We s!
We sow all those other than leeks very soon. Leeks are sown April but you might just get away with sowing now!
@@nodignorfolkgardener4575thanks. I have a 16 cell tray of leeks already doing well. So hopefully get the rest going. I've got a lot more sown just not brassica. Thanks for the advice and video.
Superb once again folks...can you direct me were i would buy the cauli you sowed ..
Have a good week folks
Thank you for the kind words! The cauliflower seeds came fro King Seeds and Thompson Morgan!
I've done some sprout already but may do some more, I love calabresse thats my favourite to grow. Been differfuly this last week I had a nasty fall so can barely walk lol so haven't done much gardening
Take it easy and get well soon so you can get back to your gardening adventures!
@@nodignorfolkgardener4575 thanks, can't wait to get back out there lol
hopefully not too long!
Sheffield was warm today esp in the tunnel and I’m putting up my recycled poly door tomorrow then sowing some Romanesque and some brassicas as well as my squash / pumpkins this week I potted strawberries into some guttering and hope for fruits soon. Best wishes
Sounds like you have a productive day planned for tomorrow! Hope you get some amazing strawberries!
Congratulations on that early ripe strawberry. I can't wait until I'm picking them in a few weeks. I've been growing Silvia and Hestia brussel sprouts. I've never tried the varieties you are growing. And glad to wee you have some nice weather for a change.
Thanks Frank! I'm glad we have some brighter weather. You can't beat a lovely fresh strawberry still warm from the sunshine or a brussel sprout after a sharp frosting!
I adore fennel but I am a failure at growing it. Iy is so expensive to buy as well. I thought I might try container growing them this year. Last year I nearly got a crop. The bulbs were just swelling and then we had a frost. Bye bye fennel! I have got a bit fed up with trays of seeds/young plants in my kitchen - I can't wait to have it back as a fully functioning kitchen. I need to get purple sprouting, Romanesco and green sprouts. I already have red sprouts growing. Not sure if I'll bother with cauli anymore - they are never successful. I have my beloved kalettes ready ro plant out. I have strawberries on my sweet colossal strawberries but not red yet. Can't wait to try them. I bought little runners last year, so they are doing well. Happy gardening 🙂
It sounds like you have quite the green thumb! Keep trying with the fennel, you'll get there. Those strawberries won't be too long then and the kitchen will be all yours very soon!
@@nodignorfolkgardener4575 Cheers Barry 🙂
😊
Hi Barry, in your intro are those English or Spanish Bluebells? Couldn’t make it out as they went off screen to fast. X
Hi Clair, they are Spanish not English! They were here when we moved here. Lovely to look at tho at this time of the year!
Who got the strawberry then😮😊
We shared it of course!
Hi Mr & Mrs W another great video. I was wondering if you could help me? I have planted some calabrese in my raised bed but because they’re pallet collars and I have planted 6 ( which the packet said plant 15” apart each way) there is not enough room for other things, but I was wondering what I could plant in between as seems a waste of space? Thank you for your help Sharon
Hey Sharon, thanks for watching! quick growing veg like lettuce or radish in between the calabrese? Whatever you grow would need to harvest quickly a month to 6 weeks before thye calabrese start to fill the space - Happy gardening!
My problem is lack of space.. so growing stuff for next year is hard as I can’t get them in the ground at the same time as other crops, I like to do pant after plant but without the space it’s hard.
How do you do it?
The next plantings go in after the first harvest in most cases, but lack of space does limit what you can grow, some of these plants could go in the ground later after a harvest!
Question! If you put weeds into your hot composter will the heat kill any of their seeds?
Hi Lynn, they say yes they will if a heat of 50c or more is achieved, but I pull weeds when small and avoid any in flower making seed heads!
How are your aubergines peppers and tomatoes doing
Aubergines growing nicely but not big plants as yet. Toms - some are doing very well others not so, I think the damp cold weather has not helped by reducing the light levels!
