    It is so crazy that these scooters are not popular here in the US! Nuts!!!
    These E-scooters are so fun and no gas needed!

  • @KiwiMark67

    This is really interesting, even on the more powerful of the 3 modes and avoiding dropping below 15%, this still can travel 85km with a decent speed. This would be more than enough for most cities, which is where scooters are designed to be. Not the cheapest scooter to buy, but would be really cheap to run. It is great to see more choices of ways to get around!

    I'm very excited about this scooter. The speed and range puts it into serious car replacement territory for me, while most affordable electric scooters feel much more comparable to ebikes. Would love to see these take off in the US.

    Having 9000km on my NQi already. Half from Berlin, half from Barcelona.
    It's definitely a more fitting for Southern Europe or generally warm climate.
    On a wet, slippery roads covered with leaves, or frozen surfaces it's becoming pretty unstable.

    i've been riding motorcycles for over 40 years, and in my (lengthy - meaning old, lol) experience, lane splitting is actually safer for 2 wheelers when practiced responsibly: it gets you out of the cage parade so you don't have to deal with the oblivious cage pilots who are not paying attention! everytime i get on my bike someone tries to kill me - usually within a mile of my house. i don't even bother getting pissed off anymore. split the lane, get out in front AND STAY THERE!

    Excellent job on the review! We've been test riding the NIU NQi GT (NGT) out of our electric scooter store (Motor Pony Electric) in Vancouver, Canada for the past month and it has been amazing! Our city is really hilly and this is the 1st scooter that we have tried that can truly handle the hills and keep up to traffic. It looks good, is well made, thoughtful functional design and smart system. Considering what you get for the price, it is great value.

      @Motor Pony Electric and @Micah ..... My only problem with scooters is that I'm not use to having my legs resting in front... I really wish they would make them with pedals on the side, like the CSC Monterey, but with power and long range. I'd buy one at the drop of a hat. I just don't feel safe turning on a scooter.

Old Jaffa is beautiful and the roads were fine for the Romans. Everyone should visit Tel Aviv & Old Yaffa. These NIU are a great way for scooter-sharing. Here in Malta there are two such companies and both use one of the NIU scooter model. Great way to get around especially for a small country like Malta where the distance to anywhere is around 7-9miles single-way. Micah always gives honest reviews about anything he has his hands on. Lane sharing saves lives. Using that space between cars allows the rider to be in a protected space instead of hanging out there waiting to be struck from the rear. Many more riders are injured or killed by that than from filtering or lane splitting/sharing. That's why it is legal in many states.

    • @jnyylee

      In Taiwan, scooters are supposed to go to the front to stay in a box dedicated to motorcycles and scooters to wait for green light. And lane splitting is the only way to make it possible. This help makes the the traffic move quicker as scooters move faster than cars the first few seconds at starting up.

    They are nice but be mindful of a few issues. Front forks bend and leak easy. Brake lever has a sensor that cuts throttle. When that has a malfunction it can lead to unsafe surging of power that can be really hazardous on slick roads or in corners. Last major one is sometimes when you take the bat out and it it back in the computer will bug. That really sucks when in a hurry and ya gotta pull the battery and use the wall charger to reset.
    The true last issue is common to a lot of rides, stock tires are hard and do have traction issues.

  • @craigcampbell1843
    @craigcampbell1843 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Lane splitting is not only convenient and legal in most of the world but it actually keeps the motorcyclist safer and reduces traffic because you’re not taking up a spot on the road that a car could be in.

The eco mode went to 29mph and normal was only 47mph on the flat. So no gains really, except.... when the battery got low it went to eco mode of 29mph. Which I felt was much safer. Waiting patienty for the Niu RQi-GT they teased us with at CES 2020. If the specs of 40hp/30kw and 100mph/160kph top speed are true, this will be a fantastic urban and suburban motorcycle that will hopefully be priced in the gapping hole that is the mid-segment between affordable scooters like the NGT and hugely expensive Zero/Energica motorcycles.

    Is it possible to remove 1 of the 2 batteries and drive it with more storage? Of course this would give half the range.

      Sorry for the late response, but I can answer your question. He is using a 360 camera, most likely the Insta 360 One X2 on a mount. You can see the blindspot right below the headlight. That's we're the camera is.

    Thanks a lot for the detailed and honest opinion about the scooter. One thing I wanted to ask is my home is on top of a hill. You mentioned that the ride sets a limit to protect the battery at 15%. Do you think I'll have trouble if I buy an electric scooter if I can't go uphill at let's say 20~25% a quarter battery left and cant go uphill? Btw it's around $1k in South Korea for your model. I know it's a baragain(gov subsidy to promote e-commerce) but setting aside the price, will I be able to get home that is on top of a steep hill (as steep as the brick rode in your video) with quarter of battery left?

    what is the battery life expectancy before you need to replace them ? and how much do the replacement batteries cost?

    • @raymondcasola8932
      @raymondcasola8932 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The batteries have a minimum life of 5 years, and they are under warranty for 2 years. However, that does not mean that after 5 years, the batteries die, they simply lose their ability to charge to 100%. You might only be able to charge to 90% after 5 years, for example. It terms of the cost, I estimate between 2500$ and 3000$ Canadian. A bit less in USD. Hope this helps.

      Given the price of gas now, definitely. Also save time and gas looking for gas station as you can charge while in office, at home or if you have spare batteries, just swap
