I Love this song!!!! Not only is Pat's husband the guitarist, he pretty much produces and is the primary writer and arranger and is key in the final product, He 's an absolute badass! The two of them together....absolutely fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥

I was 13 y/o on a plane at 30k ft, headed for the Nat'l Luther League convention in San Antonio, TX. First time I heard this song. I had just bought the cassette & was rockin' it in my Sony Walkman, if you can imagine 😂, very inspirational indeed.

Lol I can remember my dad had the biggest crush on her I love her music but her she looks like the type that's gonna be in charge in any relationship now that's scary lol
Pat's last Top 20 hit. It's only a cover of a song written by a man named Kerryn Tolhurst and first recorded by an Australia *country* band, of all things…but Pat and husband/collaborator/guitarist Neil Giraldo put their stamp on it. Undisputed classic.
(And hey, one of Pat's earliest singles was a cover of John Mellencamp's "I Need a Lover", so she's always had success rocking up "heartland" songs.)
I have no idea why she lost her audience. Clearly she and Neil hadn't lost their touch.
They had another huge hit in the making in 1993 but they were having issues with their record company refusing to promote the single. They were "too old" to invest in by the record company essentially. So they had a charting adult contemporary radio hit but the record company messed it up. So they left the company. That is the main reason why their two banging 90s albums weren't heard. Their cover of "I Need A Lover" made the original sound like a demo. Neil has a real talent for taking the best elements out of a song they cover and making it better.

The record company released "Gravitys Rainbow". "Everybody Lay Down" was not officially released as a single, but rock stations picked up the song at it went to #3 on the Rock Radio chart. The record company were planning a US tour at which time Pat became pregnant and she decided not to tour at which point the record company didn't promote the album any further and it went to waste side.
Heard she was trained to sing opera so that where you hear that power in her voice
you should also try "one love (the lions song)" by Pat Benatar, "get here" by Oleta Adams, "Closer to Fine" by the Indigo Girls, and "Sweet Lullaby" by Deep Forrest.
Pat is a flat out bad ass
A real banger from a great team of Pat Benatar and husband, guitarist Neal Geraldo, nice jolt of energy and one of their rocking best. To see them in their prime and at their very best live, try Heartbreaker in New Haven CT 1983, they are truly in beast mode and at the end Neal unleashes his inner Pete Townsend and just has one of the best windup guitar solos I have ever seen or heard. He was scary good there. Check it out and enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
I saw them in 1982 in New Haven. They taped their HBO special that night. Also saw her Saturday night up near Hartford. Her voice is still amazing. They did Helter Skelter, & her voice was still fire. Neil kicked a*s on the guitar.

I saw her on this tour (Wide Awake in Dreamland) in 1988 at Franklin Pierce College (now University). Rhythm Corps opened for her. It was standing-room only. I was able to push to the front of the stage. Great concert!
I saw the same tour in Waco, Tx. I felt sorry for Rhythm Core having to open for Pat. People weren't very kind to them. Pat and Neil actually came out on the stage in the middle of Rhythm Core's set to tell the audience that if they didn't stop disrespecting the band that Pat handpicked to open for her they would not only cut her set down but there would be no encores. Things calmed down right at that point and Pat ripped the roof off of the convention center when they took the stage
