Pat and Neil have been married for 41 years and have two daughters. They were introduced in 1979 by a producer who felt Neil's "affinity for arranging and musical direction would facilitate the creation of a sound both identifiable and powerful". One of the reasons Pat Benatar declined being inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame was because she felt Neil should be inducted as well. They were a team and his hard work and accomplishments should be acknowledged, not just hers because she probably wouldn't have been as huge a hit without him. She finally got her wish as it should be.

Joan Jett is a little harder , but Pat has a voice that you can just melt listening to. But guys ACDC -RIDE ON. And DOWN PAYMENT BLUES is dying to be played. Pat is one of my favorite music artists. "Promises in the Dark," "Precious Time," and "Hell is for Children" are my favorites. "Hell is for Children" was a powerful and disturbing song about child abuse. I recommend you check them out.

Her 1st 2 albums were straight ahead hard Rock. On her 3rd album, she started to have a more Pop sound on about half of the songs.

Benatar started out as rocker but as her career progressed her music turned more poppy, during the mid-80s songs like Love is a Battlefield, Le Bel Age, We Belong, Invincible etc. opened her up to a new audience. One of her best songs is "Fire and Ice", worth checking out if you haven't already.

Yes, she is married to the guitar player...to this day. 40 yrs or so. She, as story is told, declined induction to rock roll hall of fame, unless her husband was inducted with her...which, recently, happened. She and he, tour to this day. ...such an incredible voice. I wonder how she and Steve perry would have sounded on a duet? 😊
She rocks. Her hair style was a trend during the 80s so much it was referenced in the movie Fast Times At Ridgemont High.
I saw Pat Benatar in concert in Indianapolis and it was one of the best concerts I've been to. Very energetic, love her music.

Pat Benatar is up there with Joan Jett, Ann Wilson from Heart, Lita Ford, when it comes to female rock singers. I'd like to suggest "You Better Run", "Invincible" and "Hell Is For Children". "Hell Is For Children" is a good song with a heartbreaking message. Definitely worth a listen to. 😎👍
Benatar's deal was: "Look here, boys, I'm getting sick of your crap!" Adolescents at the time - like me - were all, "Yes ma'am, sorry ma'am." 😂 Yeah, she eventually married the guy on guitar here, a few years after this release. Her act is now officially known as "Benatar & Giraldo". She refused to accept an award from the RocknRoll Hall of Fame unless her husband Neil was included - a fair request, given that he co-wrote most of the music. Btw, Neil is probably the most underrated guitar players of that time. I swear the best guitar solo of the 80s was the one he pulled off for the song "Precious Time". Not because it "shreds", but the sheer fittingness of it, like a David Gilmour solo.

Pat has a great backstory to her how she got off to a Slow start until meeting Neil. She also has said she doesn’t warm up before singing. It just hasn’t been necessary. That’s amazing.
In 1991, she put out an album where she covered a number of older songs. Her bluesy version of "Bloodshot Eyes" (which was originally a country song from the early 50's) is a completely different side that shows her versatility and will get Asia dancing.

Rock baby, it's female rock at it's finest. "Pop" is short for popular, but in music jargon it means more mainstream, softer, light-hearted music. As soon as it gets heavy with electric guitars it's more rock.

You should watch the movie "Fast Times At Ridgemont High" from 1982 starring Sean Penn as stoned surfer Jeff Spicoli. It was a high school comedy that had about three female students dressed as Pat Benatar. Phoebe Cates' character Linda even mentions it in the beginning of the movie. This is a must see film with lots of laughs.
