  • Driver Fail Runaway Truck! Is this a driver error, or is that truck really driving itself? Failure to set the brakes can be costly but luckily this driver caught it in time.

    Getting Complacent is our biggest challenge as Professional Truck Drivers.
    Me personally if I have someone come up and talk to me or I get distracted, I start all over as if it’s a new hookup, that is the only way I’ll feel comfortable driving away. Great video

      You're right that's the best way to do it. It really doesn't take very long to hook a trailer so it's no big deal.

    Always chock your wheels

    • @20plustrucking
      @20plustrucking  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That would definitely make a difference but I doubt you would get very many truck drivers on board with carrying a wheel chock with them and throwing it under the tire every time they stop.

      @@20plustrucking true but the company i drove Calex for had one attached to every tractor. It's worth the money and the 5 seconds it takes.

    If they can make the horn blow why not make the brake set?

      No doubt! If we're going to make it safe let's go all the way.

    How could you not set the breaks… gotta do it at least a couple times a day. But you can’t lose your focus because we all want to go home and see our family every time 🙏🏻

      I agree and I'm not sure if I could live with myself if somebody got killed or badly hurt cuz I wasn't focused on what I was doing.

      @@20plustrucking i completely agree and I’ve known some guys in the industry that have gotten into accidents because they weren’t focused and got in a hurry. But they say the same thing you did and now they don’t drive anymore.

    Could have had a dog inside that hit the button trying to look out to windshield. Possibility of why it took so long to roll as well...

    • @20plustrucking
      @20plustrucking  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That was one of the things I thought too but it would have to be an awfully big dog because it takes a lot to push that in.

    Sounds really dumb.. It is.. But we are all human.. I'm happy he was able to get that truck stopped. Unfortunately we learn the most from the mistakes we make. I imagine this guy will be anal about checking to be sure his brakes are set in the future.

      True you never know what's going to happen at the truck stop vs the Walmart parking lot but I guess it just depends on where you're at.

    Do Walmart trucks have dashcams?

    • @20plustrucking
      @20plustrucking  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes they all do and they only activate if there is a sudden hard breaking or an accident. Also they only point forward looking at the road not at the driver. The dash cam in my video is my personal dash cam.

    I want to drive for Walmart but they are not hiring in my area. I am near Tacoma Wa so it’d have to be Centralia or Grandview.

      At some point I'm sure one of those DC's will be hiring again.
