Hello , it would be better for your eyes especially for the eyelids to wash from outside to the nose. Another aspect: stay a little while on your lashes ( best with warm towel) and massage: dry eye will become better!
and most important: thank you for the great information about products and the ingredients 😊

It's a little confusing because she said people splash their skin in the morning with water, dirty their white towels and then put on skincare, which she said was a waste.
What if we have serums and moisturizers that use in the morning? If she is saying just wash with water, it contradicts, in my mind, what she said about people making a waste by just splashing with water.

I was diagnosed with Type II Rosacea about 15 years ago. It took me several years to realize that my foaming cleanser was killing my skin. Now, I know that two things will cause a flare up - not washing my face before bed and/or using a detergent-based cleanser. Purity is pretty much the only thing that soothes my skin back to normal (Rosacea Normal, of course) after a flare up. And, as you say, I don't wash with anything but warm water in the morning. With this strategy, I have been pretty much flare-up free for about 5 years. Thank you for this very important content. Most people have no idea that how they wash their face has such an impact.

I KNEW IT!!!!! For a few years now I’ve been lazily forgoing morning washes, just splashing water to clean off “boogers” (note- not usually wearing ANY makeup or mascara for weeks at a time); so besides air pollution it’s really just the oil and lotion I use after my evening shower before bed that remains on my face

  • @rheahinlo

I’m the exception. I tried not washing face in the am with mild cleanser and I broke out so badly. I spent so much more money going several times to two derms when I finally decided to go back to my usual routine of mild cleanse in the morning.

Same here. Well, I've only tried skipping a morning cleanse once or twice, but I use the La Roche Posay Toleriane cleanser, which is very creamy and gentle. I just feel like I need to wash my face in the morning, even though I'm dry-skinned.

Same here. I have very oily & acne prone skin, & I use the LRP Effaclar 2% SA cleanser in the mornings. I tried skipping it & just using water, & my skin looked awful; it was greasy, dull, my pores looked big & clogged, I got a few zits.
Went back to my normal routine & my skin is happy.

I used to be an overwasher. My skin would inflame from time to time and became extra sensitive. One of the times when I got an all over bad flare up, the dermatologist told me to stop using foaming cleansers. Being a person thinking I have the oiliest skin, it was a hard switch. But it was the best thing I have done for my face. I like to use a soaking wet washcloth or gauze-y cloth to help remove the cleansing oil (1st cleanse), then my lotion/creamy cleanser, and I have not gone back since. That was more than ten years ago. First step to better skin is definitely gentle cleansing and only using cleansers at night. ❤️

Hi Dr. Idris. Thank you so much for your educational videos. I have learnt a lot from them. In a sea of skincare products, with a sensitive skin, it has not been easy for me to find good products and, especially, the ones that suit me - I have suffered from sensitive, dry, itchy skin for years. Never dared to use any skincare product except moisturizer and sunscreen, leave alone makeup. I now know how to choose a product better - from you - although it's still a learning process for me. From your video recommendations of Bioderma Micellar H2O, I came across Bioderma Micellar face gel - that is mentioned as foamy but without soap. At first I was hesitant because of the word foamy but I bought it nonetheless because it mentioned "for sensitive skin". Plus it isn't expensive. I didn't need micellar H2O as you recommended since I do not wear makeup and am indoors mostly so heavy duty cleaning is not required. But the Bioderma miceller gel has been the best find for me. It is best cleanser I have used for my sensitive, dry skin that has always hated soaps and even so called gentle cleansers. I was surprised how it made my skin feel from the first use. While many people go overboard in their skincare, I nearly had given up on skincare because nothing ever seemed to suit my skin. I have rosacea and a sensitive skin that was "almost always" inflamed - which I found out after years of suffering - was also due to lactose intolerance - no Dr told me about this. I discovered this on my own. None of them suspected food intolerance or talked about effects of specific food on the skin. My skin has started to calm down after I completely gave up milk tea and coffee - Used to have 2 cups a day - the only form of milk product I used to consume on a regular basis. (You could do a video on effects of food types and nutrition on skin health). But thanks to you, I have now come to believe that there are good products out there that may suit one's skin as well as budget - we just need to choose them carefully. And I am hopeful and positive now. ❤

@@kristinlowther6260 I ordered from Amazon and the brand is HipHop Panda. They do a great job of cleansing my face, and they also come out like new in the laundry. They come in a pack of 6 or pack of 30, multiple colors to choose from. I first bought a pack of 6, then after experiencing how great they are, immediately ordered a 30 pack.

I use Vanicream Gentle Facial cleanser in the morning. I do a quick gentle cleanse, but every time I’ve tried to skip using a cleanser in the morning I get a pimple or two. I don’t use many products in my evening routine but when I wake up in the morning my face feels sticky, I must sweat in my sleep.

Hi Dr. Idriss! I was wondering if you could do a winter body care video and specifically talk about how frequently one can use chemical and physical exfoliators on the skin to smooth and correct discoloration and treat KP without damaging or drying the skin out.
I also had questions about Tinea Versicolor. I know it's caused by malassezia fungus, but can you go in depth about how it causes tinea versicolor and what exacerbates it? For example do hot showers and hair products make it worse? Thank you!

I know this will not work for everyone but I'll try to be as detailed as possible and I do hope if anyone tries that it does help. Reason being I always wish people put more detail in their comments regarding beauty. Caveman regime. Hated the thought but got to a point where I hated myself enough to do it and oddly best thing ever. Tbh I don't even use any skincare products at all (no lotion, nothing.. Although that's because I can't afford sunscreen or serum sadly on my face anyway. I use body lotion and stuff psht). I used to have a caramel-like skin tone, developed hyperpigmentation which became erythema when my skin tone lightened (probably the same as docs or slightly lighter with a yellow undertone but thanks to the pie (post inflammatory erythema) more pink. Weather is always 30 Celsius upward here. 22 year old male and have been battling acne for over 7 years. I use LUKEWARM water and have to rinse every hour but that's due to the oil and finish with a Few COOL rinses. So far, way less redness, acne has gone down by a crazy amount, skin has less oil (used to rinse every 30 minutes hoping to somehow get to 2 hours or longer if possible tbh). I used many products which claimed would help etc. Didnt really do much. But that's my 2 cents and I'm not here to argue. I think all skin is unique because of all the variants to consider and tbh doc has saved my skin because I came to this idea thanks to her short on products to use based on where you stay. Obviously I'm not fighting her but I do think everyone needs to experiment. Trust me I've tried a lot of stuff, even stuff you'd find disgusting and obviously think wouldn't work but when you've been bullied for so many years you get to a place where any randos guarantee or doctors guarantee is something you're willing to try. Have a great week ahead and an awesome rest of the year ❤😅 oh, sensitive skin too. Allergic to a lot of natural ingredients ie aloe Vera (scarred my skin
) oh yeah, light scarring too and that's also gotten better. Had a very droopy face with crazy assymetry and it's gotten better but not perfectly fixed. Sorry for the super long comment...

Hello! I’m Japanese. While I was watching this video, I found that there is a difference between your way and Japanese way to wash face.
In Japan, it is said that rubbing face is not good for skin because the friction will occur some skin damages in the future. For example, increasing wrinkles, losing elasticity, and getting pores open.
Dermatologists, beauty specialists and beauty magazines highly recommend NOT to rub the face skin when you cleanse your face, when you wipe with towel, and when you apply the skincare products.
I don’t have any harm to you at all, I love your videos and I respect you so much. I really appreciate you because your advice and recommendations are so helpful which products to choose.
I just would like to share the difference about rubbing while washing face.
If you would like to know more about the frictionless skincare in Japan, there is a famous dermatologist, “TOMORI ARATA”. It would be great if her videos are interesting for you.
    Thank you always.

I was actually going to comment the same thing. She lost me at rubbing. & it was not just dab dab. It was pretty aggressive 😂 I feel like alot of derms think that’s forbidden. It’s interesting because she doesn’t use paper towel either. I saw a TH-camr who uses towel like paper towels because bacteria doesn’t adhere to it, you can just toss it. Not environment friendly but eh. But I don’t have an MD so what do I know.
She looks like lady Gaga though & is beautiful.

I always get shocked when I watch westerners treat their skin so harshly, her face was all red. I use the Japanese double cleansing method (oil cleanser and then hydrating foam wash) and never use towels on my skin to not get any bacteria on it or irritate it. I gently wipe of the water, let it air dry for a bit and then use a hydrating toner when it's damp.

It would be great to have a video about hydroquinone. I managed to get a prescription formula of 0.5 tretinoin with 4% hydroquinone. And also a lotion of 10% Glycolic acid with 2% hydroquinone. I use one or the other but never both. I use it once a week. But with that time difference, I don't know if the rule of 2 months usage and 1 month break applies to me.
FYI: My face only has just a few tiny sun marks that have been almost erased with other skincare ingredients, but I use hydroquinone for sun damage and hyperpigmentation that I have in the back of my neck from where I used to work as a delivery guy.

    • @hypergolightly
      @hypergolightly 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I would use your hydroquinone and tretinoin Rx product more frequently than once a week. MWF approach to begin and then slowly increase to eventually nightly use as best tolerated. You still want to use your hydroquinone product cyclically. Two months on and one month off. I recommend getting a Rx for tretinoin by itself so you can continue to use that and reap the many benefits.

I stopped washing with cleanser when I wake up years ago - that and changing my pillowcases daily made a huge difference. Another weird thing I do is I work overnight so I reverse my skincare. I go to bed as soon as I get home, so I apply my skincare like retinol when I wake up, before work. Otherwise, I'd just lose most of my skincare to my pillowcase. I only see sun on my way home (rising sun) and apply sunscreen before leaving work, then wash my face with cleanser when I get home and follow up with a light moisturizer so it soaks in before going to bed.

I love cleansing balms, specifically ELF leaves no residue when rinsed off and is fairly priced. I love the feeling of working them into my face and that I do not need any cotton pads or cloths at all. I would then go in with a gentle foaming cleanser just to make sure any residues are gone, however ELF balm emulsifies really well and washes off clean. I have tried micellar waters from Bioderma but have found I have to go in a few times to get everything off and I don't even do waterproof makeup. For the eyes, the only thing that works fast and doesn't sting nor need rubbing is Garnier micellar with argan oil (the one with two phases to shake up)

I love ELF balm. I use that to remove makeup and then vanicream face cleanser. I have normal but sensitive, rosacea prone skin. I don't react well to micellar water. It irritates me so I don't know why people like it.
