    Hey. I know it`s an old video. I`m in the middle of changing rear tire for the first time on my 2018 Chieftain. Watching other videos and they have a 6 in metal rod on the left side of the bike that pulls out that releases that drops the swingarm down more give slack in the belt to move to the side. So you might not need to adjust it after getting a new tire on. And no need to remove exhaust pipe. Great video it helps a lot.

    Thanks for recording/uploading! Two things I did differently: (1) Cleaned everything before reassembling; (2) Used a torque wrench to tighten the 1-1/16" axle nut.

    Great video. The Indian dealership told me the out-the-door price for a tire change would be $656.83 😱 and I know 3/4 of that has to be labor for removing/reinstalling the darn tire and exhaust. Your video will help me save a ton of $$$.

    There is a pin that you can take out. That will drop the back forks. This woll allow you not to mess.with the mufflers at all. You access it it up by the seat.

    I really dig the crown royal bag on the calipers. Smart! I've always taken the front fender off to change my front tire, it's neat to see that you don't have to do that!

    Wow, Removing rear and front wheels from a 40's thru 50's full-fendered Chief , on the side of the road , was possible with only a large allen wrench and a crescent wrench. The center stand , plus side stand, permitted tilting bike to the left making removal of wheels fairly easy. Front and rear wheels were also interchangeable. Getting 5.00 x 16.00 tires off wheels with two tire irons was "good exercise".

      Bikes have gotten a little heavier since then and need a little more support to lift. That would be my guess.lol

    I think it would be wise to specify torque values on some of those critical fasteners.

    For anybody who has done their own tires, I have my tires and inner tubes and I inflated the tube inside the tires just to get some shape into them with no wheel. The front fits nicely but the rears have a little wiggle room. Is that right? Parts are Drag Specialties 181227 front and 181226 rear. TIA

    • @cliffcares6455
      @cliffcares6455  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do the same thing. Airing the tube till it's round. Some tubes will fit differently. Tubes can be used in several sizes. Example is a 90/90-19 tube can be used up to a 110/90-19 tire.

    Did you have anything special on your jack for lifting the bike? They sure dropped the ball when they ran the brake lines under the frame!

    What I did not see is you aligning the belt after remounting the rear tire plus 65lb torque on axil

  • @zionhanson1830

    Metric fits better because Its metric 1-1/16 is 27mn
    5/16 is 8mm hex
    1/2 is 13mm

    Just gotta say that an infowars hat and wearing a weapon inside a motorcycle trailer while you do work is not a good look for people to take you seriously 😐
