Thanks for watching and you make a valid point....saying that in my experience all Webers are practically indestructible. I've got a kettle that's been sitting outside for over 10 years and I live near the ocean. Yes its showing signs of rust buts its still going strong and far from dead.
That’s a pretty kool set up. I have a Webber GA I love using it I use it few times a week when i can but so far webber replaced the fuel grate & recently the bowl bottom unit of the bbq . Not sure if they a have a quality problem. Also when i close the lid & open all the vents feels like the fire goes off are you experiencing the same ? Thanks.
Thanks Ben, Didn't know re the fuel gate and bowl bottom. Mine seems OK for now. Also haven't had any issues with air flow / heat with lid on and vents open.
Hi Jonathan. It's an OzTrail branded chimney starter. I got mine from Anaconda here in Oz. They don't stock it ATM. A quick google takes you here....but that's about 4 times what I paid. cacw.com.au/product/oztrail-folding-charcoal-starter/
Thanks Paul. I've been "umming and ahing" re talking in my videos or not. I'm just new to TH-cam and really enjoying the video creation process. For now I'll just focus on making better looking videos before starting to talk in them. But stay tuned..
Great Vid thanks. Has given me a few ideas. I have seen a 200mm extension used for a low and slow smoke. I am thinking about 75mm would be enough to fit most roasts (offset). What did you start your chimney with? Meths and wood? Cheers
Hi Paul. Thanks for watching and for the comment. I would love an WGA extension...thinking about having a go at making my own. I'll post a vid if I do. Yep, meths and some natural fire starters.

@@maikalangelo Opening the coal side keeps the coals at higher temp and with the top vent above the food open, it takes a convection approach to the cook by forcing the heat out of the food side.
I have a go anywhere. I've just started doing indirect cooking. Is it best to put the coals over to one side as you have or have them equally on each side? Is there any difference? Thanks
people usually reverse sear for a nice rare or medium rare...you could have roasted it traditionally and saved time with a better sear and still achieved your 145°F?
Great stuff! Looks tasty as. Were those wooden handles an upgrade? I find the plastic handles have warped for me. Cool little compact setup you got there!
Thanks mate. I restored the wooden handles from a Weber kettle found on the side of the road. The rest of the Kettle was pretty much a write-off so I put the handles to good use. Will be taking this little setup camping and on days trip more often now that COVID restriction are lifting here in OZ.
Very nice. Thank you for making this video and sharing. Quick question: the heat divider…can you tell us about it? Is it just a bunch of foil ? Thx. You have a new follower here in Canada!
Thanks mate. The heat divider is just a foil tray that I flattened into shape. Its actually quite thick and works very well. Thanks again for following. I'll try upload more often in the future.
Great video mate - thinking about picking one of these BBQs up myself. You obviously rate them? Out of sheer curiosity, what was the cook time on the lamb rack? Also, where did you get the collapsable chimney?
Hi mate, Thanks for watching and for the comment. Its a great little cooker. Very compact and portable. Perfect for day trips and car camping. The grill grate is very close to the coals, which is fine for direct cooking things like chicken. For indirect cooking you'll either need to use a method like I do in this vid or use a riser. There's a few mobs that produce / manufacture risers here in OZ. The ones I've seen are a little expensive. I'm planning a DIY riser vid soon, so stay tuned. Cook time for the lamb rack was about 45min. The collapsible chimney was from Anaconda, OzTrail brand. I got it on sale for about $14 AUD. I can't see it on their website anymore. Try this... www.downundercamping.com.au/oztrail-folding-charcoal-starter
Hi Raunel. I live next to a lake that is home to a healthy population of white cockatoos. And yes they can be very loud from time to time. I guess is better than highway traffic, trains, plans and city noises.
Grill is good but sorry the lamb is way over cooked. 135 f med rare that's what u should finish around and then let it rest to get o 140. Grey lamb is awful.

You’ve installed the lower air vents up side down by the way.
Thanks Steve. I didn't even realize that the vents were upside down. Must have put them on wrong the last time I pulled it apart for a clean.

As far as I know, the manufacturer doesn't recommend to use any inflammable liquids to ignite a fire. They have lighter cubes for this purpose.

Hi Mailalangeo. Thanks for the comment. Half open. Open half coals side and closed half meat side.

To one side I think is the go. The cooking grate sits too close to the coals otherwise. Or use a riser.

I really don't understand the need for a chimney to light the coals - unnecessary extra weight and space
Briquettes are difficult to light, a chimney makes it pretty foolproof.
True that
