  • Once your chin lipo is done you aren't done yet. The key to a great result comes in the massaging that you will do in the first few weeks to months after your chin liposuction. Dr Paul Pearce takes you through the lymphatic massage techniques he recommends for his post op jawline contouring patients at his private practice in Austin, Texas.
    Dr Pearce is a board certified plastic surgeon and performs double chin surgery in his office in Austin Texas under local anesthesia.

    Thanks for this! I just hit the 4 weeks post op point and the hard lumps are really annoying me. It’s hard to grab them to roll them because I don’t have much loose skin but I’m definitely going to try this in combo with my jade roller. Any advice on if the vertical lines right where my chin meets my neck will go away?

    • @ThePlasticLife
      @ThePlasticLife  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Very glad this video has been some help! Give the vertical lines about 6 months before they fade. It will help by massaging those areas as well. If they don’t fade away talk to your surgeon about what can be done. Sometimes some skin tightening in the area can help with RF microneedling.

    Great video! I’m a licensed massage therapist x 20yrs and recently had an anterior neck lift with lipo. I’m 43, recently lost 65lbs, and am now almost 2wks post-op. I did some very light, minimal lymph drainage on myself almost immediately and now that I’m mostly recovered, wanted the best techniques. I seem to have a bit of fibrosis very centrally under my incision. Surgeon said everything was progressing normally. This video is a great recommendation and easy to follow!

    I'm really scared now. You say that it's not good to massage it the first week so that the tissue can reattach. I got chin lipo four days ago ... my surgeon had me come in the next morning and my surgeon gave me a massage (which I was actually barely even coherent for because all the pills they had me take had me OUT still, someone had to drive me to that appointment and I barely remember it except for how extremely painful it was) .. and they had me schedule my second massage for tomorrow (Monday) .... 😢😢😢 ... any thoughts?! Will my results still be okay ?!!?

    • @ThePlasticLife
      @ThePlasticLife  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Howdy! How are things going 12 days out now? I hope that they are going well! I'll bet your results are great even though the massages started so soon after. Every surgeon has a different approach to how and when to begin massaging post op. My preference is to wait because it can be pretty uncomfortable as you mentioned. But if your surgeon wants you to massage the first week I would follow their instructions. Who knows, maybe I'll switch to starting during the first week but for now I prefer to wait till day 7 to let things settle in. Hope you are doing well and you get the jawline you wanted!

      @@ThePlasticLife Hi! Thanks for your response :)
      ... So I had my 1st massage day one PO. Brutal and traumatizing, but apparently my surgeon got remaining fluid out of me which of course is necessary. 2nd massage was day 5 PO. Not happy about that one either, also very painful and I feel like it honestly just re-traumatized the area when it was just starting to heal. I was extra swollen and extra in pain for 24 hours after that.
      3rd massage was originally scheduled for day 7 PO , but I was like oh hell no, my body is still healing from the disruption of the 2nd massage. So I rescheduled my 3rd massage for day 13 PO. That one went better and I feel like that one was actually productive.
      I am now day 16 PO and my lumps and bumps change day-to-day but I have learned to do some self-massage with metal tools and dry brushing which helps smooth things out a bit (before they show up again, some of it is also caused by the garment, I believe).
      I am feeling better day-by-day and seeing more visible results day-by-day but am still quite uncomfortable and can't wait for it all to be in the past. But I am trusting the process more now! My 4th massage is coming up, it will be on day 20 PO.

    Dr. Pearce, have you had plastic surgery done on yourself? Often plastic surgeons get the same procedures they are doing. It looks like you've opted out of removing excess fat around your neck. I think it looks fine just wondering the thought process for yourself and how you decide to get surgeries yourself if any.

    • @ThePlasticLife
      @ThePlasticLife  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tuckerstevens9689 i’ve had a few non-surgical procedures done on my self like RF micro-needling, but no surgery yet. I haven’t necessarily opted out of having anything done to my neck just yet. It’s certainly in the plan, just have to find the time. Also, i’m not a great candidate for chin lipo alone. I’m in my late 40’s and I unfortunately have some excess skin present thats always been there. So likely a mini neck lift or a full neck lift (depending on if I get J plasma done or my elevate) is going to be whats going to get me the best results.

    Hi i now have visible neck bands all over my chin and the edge of my neck after aggressive lipo😭 i can literally feel the band under my chin without even putting pressure. Im only 33 years old and never felt this bands before the lipo. Im 5 weeks post op.. is this now permanent 😭 i see them when i look left and right and when i slightly look up. I dont even have to look all the way up for the bands to show up. I feel like my chin and edge of neck has aged because of the visible vertical bands. What to do? I have a 90 degree side profile. So will having a platsymal surgery fix this even tho im already at a 90 degree jaw angle? I wish they werent as aggressive 😕

      @ThePlasticLife  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’d recommend giving it time. It takes 6 months to see the final massage from chin and neck lipo. Having not seen pictures of your neck it’s difficult to say what to do. But what I would recommend is massaging your neck and chin area firmly and for the next three months. That may help soften the appearance of things and then if at 6 months, then you can discuss options to correct anything with your surgeon. I’m sorry you to hear you are stressed about this right but make sure your surgeon knows that you are concerned so they can keep tabs on your progress

      Hi Joanna. I’m sorry to hear that this is going on with you. I would reach out to your surgeon to let them know what is going on. Sometimes this condition can be temporary where it lasts for a few hours due to the local anesthetic or anywhere from a few days to months if the cannula bumped up against the nerve. Also in the realm of full transparency (and not to scare you) but there is a small chance it could be permanent but that is very rare. Please let your surgeon know what is going on so they can take a look at you and discuss what to do next.
