I went to Naples the week of ferragosto and most of the napoletani were away. basically when you go around during August you will only find tourists and people that can't go on holiday
DEFINITELY that! On Ferragosto italian cities that are not on the seaside are empty, plus tinder culture is very different there, people are not nearly as friendly as abroad... I guess the combination of the two things made it a bit unsuccesful hahahahahahaha

Milan born and bred here: I am sooooo mad that Milan still gets the rep of an ugly city, I do not get it. Also, unless you have high budget the shopping you can experience here is just about the same as anywhere else in the country, so I would advise against coming here for shopping AND coming here during full summer because there is literally no one in general and Pandemic Milan is even emptier than usual.
@Derevan as a Sicilian myself, that's horrible. Im sick of seeing Italians arguing with Italians about Italy things! Were all under the same tricolore.
Well this is Milan. I’ve lived here for 15 years, and this is the city I really love despite a lot of negative things. I’ve never seen a vlog of my city like this. This is different, congrats bro! You have nailed a lot of things, i just want to mention a few: Thrifting is not a thing here, which is a sad truth, because people here like to buy new things, and spend their money on fresh clothes. You can’t really find a lot of thrifting stores, but you can a lot of people in the malls, or in luxury stores. Not a lot of people are fluent or are not totally English speakers, and the language barrier is really a problem not only here in Milan, but everywhere in Italy. Fortunately you can speak a little bit of Italian. But imagine someone who doesn’t? It would be really hard. The aperitivo thing that you did, is really common here, especially for young people like us(from 18-30 years old), and the prices are around 10 euros, so you did not pay a lot, considering that you had the Negroni + food. Trust me there are some aperitivos that are way more expensive. People here like you mentioned in the end are “afraid” of the cameras. Especially the vlogging ones. Let’s say that younger people tend not to care, but a lot of people stare at you if they see you vlog. I still dont know why, because like you mentioned there are a lot of TikTokers/vloggers now. A lot of people know. But when they see one, it’s like they see someone crazy holding a camera or phone. Idk why 🤣 Besides that, i really really like your video and you showed a lot of really cool places here 😉 hope to see you soon here again!
“This is good enough for me in my trailer park upbringing“ EXACTLY! So many of us would love to get the chance to even get on a plane to explore other places. You know someone is hella privileged to travel a lot if they start calling places ugly lmfao like wut?!?
i so appreciate you somehow still making this A+ content amidst the pandemic. can't say the same for the majority of other influencers i subscribe to. this vid made me feel all the feels- thank you !
I studied and lived in Milano for almost 3 years. It’s an amazing city, it’s clean, cosmopolitan it caters everyone’s taste in culture, food, fashion and entertainment.Hope to be back soon. Damon, you are so talented and smart I’m obsessed with your videos😍
I'm Italian, originally from Naples but I moved to Milan 4 years ago. I just went for a solo trip to Paris (I was completely freaking out, don't know why. Maybe 'cause I don't know french yet), and seeing you doing the same in Milan was just amazing! You made me fall in love with this city, despite me living here for so long
little things I appreciate about this video: -the moving shots of scenery/buildings. The motion adds to the richness of the city and makes me feel like i'm in a movie set or something -the shots where you set down the camera and walked away/towards it. this made the video feel like a high budget production involving a whole camera crew. I felt like I was watching a more aesthetic tv travel channel. -the editing was just phenomenal- from the pop off words for the check list or the black and white clips. -I love the inclusion or color. you really know how to make any city look like the most beautiful in the whole world
I love watching you travel by yourself; I went to Paris for five weeks by myself, lived in an apartment, went to Franglish classes and met cute boys who took me bar hopping, drank wine and cheese, went to Monet's house in Giverny and rode beach cruisers from the train station. Okay I was so homesick and tried to get a plane home every week for five weeks but hey, I did it! I can now say I lived in Paris for five weeks by myself!
Milan is one of my favorite cities in the world, as an american, they just have such a western mindset and want to be part of the future. It’s so exciting being there the people are by far the best part.
People always said the same thing to me about Milan and I absolutely loved it! I have a pic of myself sitting on the first fountain you showed and the area along the rivers is absolutely breathtaking :') people really just see beauty as one thing and can't appreciate different types of beauty

I travelled around all of Italy during that time having Milan as a base and while Milan was not my favorite (Turin was my favorite) Milan was also beautiful and I made some great friends since I stayed near Citta Studi too where I met many Uni students. I had a great time and Milan is a good base for the north and even center parts of Italy. Thanks for the blog!! It made me happy to revisit Milano!

Sorry you didn't get to see in full what Milan has to offer. The city has been hit hard by the pandemic, many stores shut down (especially smaller ones of course), people are still scared to meet up with strangers, the city is much emptier than it was before - in just under 6 months it has become a totally different place. (Also Tinder in Italy is trash, it's literally not even worth opening the app when you're here) Hope you enjoyed the trip anyway and great to see that you're always up for the challenge of trying to speak a language you're not so comfortable with :)

Omg the pep talk at 2:30 is exactly what I needed this morning. Today for the first time in months I strongly CONSIDERED wearing actual jeans, a cute top, fun socks, and heels instead of my typical everyday workout pants. I tried on the cute outfit that I put together and felt so alive but then I started to wrestle with the thoughts that said, "why are you wearing that? What will people think? You're trying too hard/doing too much. What's the point? Just put on your daily lazy mom wear." I fought off those fights with a strong desire to EXPRESS myself and man I feel good! As Damon said, "tomorrow's not guaranteed, you gotta look good today. Keep it movin'!"

Damon: *did she actually just say dszitcaricneqpowdqiehcnasx*
Hi I'm Marina, I'm from Italy, I just wanted to thank you for portraying our country so well and for being so kind and unapologetically you
Looking forward to visit America one day😊 (sorry if I made some grammar mistakes)
Oh also! (14:41) actually some Italians do use that Proraso shaving cream ahahah
My grandpa used to use it everyday, I still remember its smell
I love the way Italians say 'okay' lol.
ohKÉÉIYUHH ❤️❤️❤️
I never realised that we say it weird lol
@@froncifresh no it's so cute!
Do you recognize any og the thrift stores?
I feel like you can’t get an understanding for any city during a global pandemic.
Well this is Milan. I’ve lived here for 15 years, and this is the city I really love despite a lot of negative things. I’ve never seen a vlog of my city like this.
This is different, congrats bro!
You have nailed a lot of things, i just want to mention a few:
Thrifting is not a thing here, which is a sad truth, because people here like to buy new things, and spend their money on fresh clothes.
Idk why 🤣
Besides that, i really really like your video and you showed a lot of really cool places here 😉 hope to see you soon here again!
I am vicariously living my life by watching Damon’s vlogs 🥺
The women in Italy are always so happy and bubbly... and the men always got an attitude 😂
I love how you love yourself. It's captivating.
“This is good enough for me in my trailer park upbringing“ EXACTLY! So many of us would love to get the chance to even get on a plane to explore other places. You know someone is hella privileged to travel a lot if they start calling places ugly lmfao like wut?!?
i so appreciate you somehow still making this A+ content amidst the pandemic. can't say the same for the majority of other influencers i subscribe to. this vid made me feel all the feels- thank you !
i walked past that “alcoholic pharmacy” for all of my three years of college and i never once saw it open, they probably opened it only for you
I must confess I "like" each of your videos even before I watch them.... I'm HERE for your content 🤸
"I heard Nicki Minaj come on the radio" 😂 He's a BARB! 💕
UM SHE HAS ALWAYS BEEN MY NUMBER 1 ❤️❤️❤️ I KNOW ALL HER LYRICS
@@damondominique KING! SAME 😭 Hit me up for a Nicki concert 😌
I'm stunned at how good he speaks Italian and I'm Italian myself
Oh my God, what a coincidence? I was just crying my eyes out for the millionth time because I didn't get to go to Italy due to the Coronavirus.
i’m so sorry you couldn’t go :((
i was crying because I couldn't go to Greece 😢
@@mitzara25 And you are saying that to a Greek person, living in Greece.
Same, i’m Italian and i was supposed to go to Wales.
I’m still angry and it’s been a week.
i cant get back to hungary to visit my family 🥴🥺 i feel you luv
The sublime editing with pieces of conversations and melancholic piano music like Damooon you're outdoing yourself 🥺❤️
does watching Damon’s videos make anyone else feel like they’re watching a european film? bc same
“People told me Milan was *the* ugly”
Ok Damon
This the only channel where i would like first before i watch bcoz he never disappoints 🥺💕
the music literally made me cry this was art lol this was beautiful
Damon the quality of your videos just gets better and better each time. HOW DO YOU DO IT !!
I'm Italian, originally from Naples but I moved to Milan 4 years ago.
I just went for a solo trip to Paris (I was completely freaking out, don't know why. Maybe 'cause I don't know french yet), and seeing you doing the same in Milan was just amazing!
You made me fall in love with this city, despite me living here for so long
0:35 his name is Damon and he's daaating around 😂
Damon should go to Siena, those brown hues would match his social media color scheme perfectlyy
“What up y’all, I’m hungover” already know it’s going to be a good video 😌
little things I appreciate about this video:
-the moving shots of scenery/buildings. The motion adds to the richness of the city and makes me feel like i'm in a movie set or something
-the shots where you set down the camera and walked away/towards it. this made the video feel like a high budget production involving a whole camera crew. I felt like I was watching a more aesthetic tv travel channel.
-the editing was just phenomenal- from the pop off words for the check list or the black and white clips.
-I love the inclusion or color. you really know how to make any city look like the most beautiful in the whole world
i could never imagine someone saying milan is ugly.....like what?
I have a pic of myself sitting on the first fountain you showed and the area along the rivers is absolutely breathtaking :') people really just see beauty as one thing and can't appreciate different types of beauty
your videos are insane!! I love them
😮
as an Italian watching this, it may be one of the most hilarious things I’ve ever SEEN. Love u bby
There are people complaining about Milan being ugly. I just wanna see other places and travel right now. I don’t care how pretty they are lmao
“That don’t impress me much” right Shania? 🤣 Damon you’re pure gold 🙌
actually i feel a bit awkward whenever im eating a lone in a nice restaurant. anyone feel me
Depends on the place but yes, it can be really awkward if it's empty
Raphtacular or if it’s crowded but they are all not alone!
yikes haha same
He's literally eating alone at the restaurant i go to when i eat alone here in milan
I feel relaxed when eating just by myself.
that vegetarian plate was EVERYTHING ! I love the vibes in this and every video you put out
Milan is gorgeous!!! I kinda prefer it to Rome... there.
Me too!! Without question
i honestly don’t even like Rome. except for the big attractions it could literally be any industrial city in europe
What do you mean ? There is nothing to see in Milan ... Rome is full of monuments plus roman food is way better than food from Lombardia.
Florence though will always be my favorite❤️
Lorenzzo Klein i’ve never been to milan so i can’t compare. i’ve only been to venice, cinque terre, naples, and florence
This filming and editing is LUSH! I mean we already knew Damon was the king of cinematic style but every video I'm just here drooling over the edits like it's my first time watching 😫😫
"There's a freaking chandelier in here"
ICONIC
i mean i already feel super lucky to see everywhere from Damon' s eyes but this video was another aesthetic..
i didnt understand and was pretty upset how the video ended so quickly. then i checked and see 18minssss
also wanted to mention that night time in milan was very perfectly angled and dinner picture with him was ughhh 🥺 🥺 🥺wish you could've be my friend
As a proud Milanese this makes me so happy! Also, I feel like you either fall in love with the city or it's just whatever
I lived in Milan for 5 months last year!
Oo the food she brought you with your drink looked so good
i feel like i can’t even begin to express how much i love the way you edit your videos. It’s always soooooo beautiful and captivating😍😍
How do yo make friends/meet people when solo traveling? (Without using tinder)
Staying at hostels or going to (international) university student centric events for young people
Hostels and bars
Talking people in the streets or on the metro
Thank you for commenting here. Now I found one new great Spanish TH-cam channel!! :)
Couchsurfing app!
i've been living in milan my whole life and this vlog made me fall in love with my home town even more. you went to a lot of places i go to almost every day and i saw them through a completely different light through this video. thank you damon
Sorry you didn't get to see in full what Milan has to offer. The city has been hit hard by the pandemic, many stores shut down (especially smaller ones of course), people are still scared to meet up with strangers, the city is much emptier than it was before - in just under 6 months it has become a totally different place. (Also Tinder in Italy is trash, it's literally not even worth opening the app when you're here)
Hope you enjoyed the trip anyway and great to see that you're always up for the challenge of trying to speak a language you're not so comfortable with :)
but what do you do if you want to meet up with italian guys?
@@Mukkki social distancing is the only weapon in a country where 20-30years old people often live with parents and granparents. You can't risk to infect your relatives.
me as a born and raised Milanese watching this like: “I wish I could be there.”
Damon out here looking like a Greek god, getting no responses on Tinder... Madness
Damon I am cracking up at this whole video. I love how open you are to everything? Just like speaking, trying, making mistakes, the intro. Bellissima truly.
damon going to Crema to make his own romantic call me by your name movie
Tomorrow is not guaranteed you've got to look good today - said like a true king.
At 11:33 she said "Negroni con aperitivo o vuoi solo stuzzicare qualcosa?" 😂😂 it means you want the aperitivo with the negroni (the whole plate of food you got) or just wanna snack on something (she would've brought you chips, olives or stuff like that)
Omg the pep talk at 2:30 is exactly what I needed this morning.
11:33 "Negroni con aperitivo o vuoi solo spizzicare qualcosa?"
Spizzicare~nibble (eat something light, usually to pair it with a drink)
Qualcosa=something
I literally wait for your videos every week.. you even made Milan interesting and entertaining 😂
