Most restaurants in Venice are bought by the Chinese and they care even less about quality and food taste generally it all about profit. if you do your research well, I'm sure you will find some 100% Italian good/high-quality restaurants around Venice (and not necessarily super expensive)

Damon don’t say you’re too old for Uni students, you’re in Europe!! I’m German and there are people who were 35 when we all started Uni together, and we never had a problem with the age gap but rather just became good friends, so don’t worry about it We Europeans live our lives no matter the age, just gotta keep your young mind 😉

I went to Venice las week for 15 minutes. I was going form Florence to Udine and we had to change trains there so I just had time to take a picture and buy a pizza fritta. I need to go back!

Btw i'm from Venice and actually the food is bad because the city is full of tourist traps. Local people knows where food is actually good, you just gotta look closely :))

the 'Coperto' charge is actually the money that goes to the waiter, the service. In America you tip, in Italy you pay for the Coperto for each sitting person. And yeah, it usually includes bread, sometimes a small acqua minerale naturale.
Damon's videos balance my intense jealousy of his ability to just get up and travel wherever his heart desires while also making me laugh and be so happy for him and his adventures! Thank you Damon for this one!
Don’t wanna be a drag but Venice was a tourist destination before Italy was even a country and they have 0 ways of creating an economy without tourism because it’s only ever been a place for rich people and tourists
@@frenchartantiquesparis424 yes and the products that come out of Venice are beautiful but for a city that constantly needs the amount of work and attention that Venice does, art, glass, and other products produced there just don’t cut it
? It was one of the most important port cities in the world. Sure there were also tourists but it was an incredibly important place for trade. tourism has only recently (in the grand scheme of this very old city) been its main economic driver.
the food in venice is incredible!! i’m so sad you missed out on all the delicious seafood, risotto, and beautiful produce from mercati di rialto! the brick oven pizza thing is a good example of why researching before you travel is so important - pretty much every travel article about venice will mention not to order pizza. all of those little bites on slices of bread are called cichetti, almost like a venetian version of spanish tapas. i’m sorry the seagull got yours😢
