Is Lagos the Worst City in the World

  • City released its 2024 Quality of Life Index, which compares 199 cities around the world. Lagos did not disappoint; it maintained its last position, ranked 199/199. As with many of my videos, I have always pointed out how Lagos fared worse compared to other African cities. City may have vindicated my position.
Questions to ask ourselves as Nigerians:
    Why did Lagos come last?
    What are we doing wrong?
It's time to reconsider our approach. Does our habit of always speaking positively about Lagos genuinely reflect the reality on the ground?
Or are we inadvertently contributing to a culture of accepting mediocrity?
If we keep doing the same and somehow expect a different result, then posterity will inherit the mess we created for them today.

If you want to understand what gives a city a high rank, check Vienna,Amsterdam,Barcelona.Lagos is not even having sidewalks for pedestrians.Tons of wasted are dumped on the streets, people defecating without any shame. Parking is a disaster. Most of the public domain is occupied illegal. A simple metro train is not bringing any ranking. Water supply is in bad state, same with the roads. London underground was functional since 1868. When almighty Sawo-Olu will improve the infrastructure, then Lagos will have a positive ranking. Till then, just a megacity below average.

I agree with everything you wrote there. We have a lot to improve. When you say this to Nigerians, they tend to respond with insults and attacks, as if doing so will alter the truth.

Mr. Bantucity has finally been vindicated. Many Nigerians have been blasting him for exposing Nigeria's ills...but now an independent source has confirmed it...That Naija is the Tail. When will the sleeping giant wake up from slumber.

South Africa is white owned. I don't know about no sleeping giant. All your cities were built by the whites. What did you black South African build? Now the whites are threatening to split from you people. What do you have? Majority of you people live shanty towns in the township. South Africa is the tail. You have corruption, no electricity, no more running water, high unemployment, the highest violent crime in Africa and top five in the world. South Africa is not a black country. A black country does not discriminate against its own. A country run by whites, classify you as the lowest of the low is not fit to be the model country for Africa. Yes I know you are a South African.

@SMadalena Abidjan or Dakar are West Africa's finest. Central Africa: Malabo? I seriously doubt that. Windhoek is literally an empty city; there are barely any humans. There is no life in Windhoek, in my opinion. Kigali is an interesting place.

@@BantuCityDiaries I don't like Abidjan worse Dakar, Dakar's climate is dry and a very cramped city, but Abidjan I don't appreciate the mentality of the Ivorians, it is similar to that of the Congolese and the city has many urban defects such as open sewage and lack of sidewalks and car parks,
I think the city of Malabo is interesting, even if I don't know much about it, and Kigali I think is clean, but other than that there isn't much to do there, there are few tourist attractions, I think that in terms of leisure and attractions, Rwanda doesn't hold a candle to Nairobi, Marrakech, Luanda, Cape Town, etc.
the nightlife in kigali are bars and restaurants, i don't like bars and i don't go to restaurants much, there are no version parks with roller coasters and attractions, there are no water parks, and i don't even hear about big resorts in the city and there are no beaches, and the climate is not very bright like in southern Africa, I like the sunlight, but the good thing about Rwanda is that it is not very hot.
without saying that besides kigali, the other cities are just villages

To me, a healthy spiritual life or faith is worth more than any luxury on earth.
Now I don't understand why you bring religion into this debate about quality of life, focusing only on material life? By the way, will it be the churches and mosques that will build the roads, the firefighters, implement the traffic lights, etc.? the church even does charity and helps by taking care of many orphans and poor homeless people, it has many free Christian schools in Africa and even universities.
However, this is not the church's duty, it is the government's duty and all citizens must participate together.

To me, focusing on infrastructure, healthcare, technological advancement, family values, and a people-centred policy are more important than any faith or 'spiritual' life. I don't even know what 'spiritual' means in the first place. As far as I'm concerned, 'spiritual' is a meaningless term, and faith is the most useless method ever.

The people feeding these organizations with bad reports about Lagos are people from the southeast parts of Nigeria who have dedicated themselves to attacking anything Lagos or Nigeria itself Lots of researchers depends on the mountains of false information they have been putting out there about Lagos and Nigeria. They refer to themselves as Biafrans and are currently embroiled in attacking the road infrastructure that would lift the economy of Nigeria to another level. Lagos is a well run city with good transpirtation network and one of the best provisions of healthcare facilities in the whole of Africa. The information being peddled about Lagos here does not represent the Lagos that I live in.
