Calabar City in present Cross Rivers State has that honour. Lagos was the second capital. Then Abuja present capital is the 3rd Capital.
Calabar was never the capital of Nigeria just as Lokoja never was. Calabar was the capital of the Southern protectorate before its amalgamation with Lagos Colony in 1906 after which the Colony and Protectorate of Southern Nigeria was administered from Calabar until the amalgamation with the Northern Protectorate in 1914 to form Nigeria as we know it which was administered from Lagos (Lagos Island, Ikoyi and Victoria Island). They all knew they were there temporarily, in fact if the government went through the route lagos state itself drew by the former governor who is the current president, over 5000 houses I'll be demolished including landmark main buildings, going through that coast saved multiple families and reduced the amount of buildings to 700, the government owns the coast and eko Atlantic was going to take the coast regardless, if you noticed eko Atlantic has already sandfilled the whole place already

The powers that be are trying to cut off access to the beach from everybody except for people who live in nice homes or staying in nice hotels along the beach. The Lagos calabar expressway is a white elephant and the main objective is to give Eko Atlantic access. A coastal road along the Niger Delta is uneconomical because it's swampy. Better to widen the main artery which is Lagos -Benin - Warri - Onitsha - Owerri - Aba - Port Harcourt
@@FranceniaProperty Some even said the Lagos Calabar Expressway is a *yellow frog* project with the sole objective of giving access to the Sahara Desert. But you are giving us a whole new perspective! Now you are saying it's a "white elephant". Well it seems like things are developing really fast, white elephant, blue labalaba, white snail, beige cockroach, yellow tarantula, pink egg, you know, whatever. It goes without saying, we, the normal people of Nigeria, can't wait for what it becomes tomorrow. One thing we know very well, it's a moving story, an ongoing development, the work on that hugely ambitious and forward-thinking infrastructure, that is. May Nigeria succeed. Happy Conspiracy Theory Day my friend.

Thank you for the update.
Welcome back to Lagos aka Eko. Lagos was the second capital of Nigeria. Calaba was the first. Feel at home beautiful. The country need to award you the passport.
