    *NOTE: 1) ASUS Boards are problematic with 7800X3D and I'm removing them from recommendations. 2) Typo "B560" should be "B650". 3) Not all A620M boards support 120W TDP CPUs like the 7800X3D, double check the TDP supported before buying.*
    What are your thoughts on the 7800X3D? What build are you planning? What resolution and FPS?

      One thing I thought I would mention is AMD's A620 motherboards come without default support for 65W-Plus CPUs, so would be no good for the 7800x3d.

      @PC Builder the core parking on dual CCD x3D makes it save power, so the scheduler tries not to wake it up. Given sufficient load the 2nd CCD is available.
      It seems to me, a reason for the dual x3D is to build out the infrastructure for automatic software configuration on hybrid CPUs.
      The 2+4 Phoenix configs may need this more as just 4t are full cache full frequency.
      Intel Thread Director tries to have the CPU monitor instructions used and recommend cores to the OS scheduler.
      But to implement a user oriented priority system, my game, my music etc. you need a top down selection to implement your current priorities.
      That could include not waking cores while on battery immediately for instance, or offloading decompression to an accelerator, as well as those Windows service threads that do housekeeping.

      @@boastyy I saw a review with 7000x3D run in 65W mode and it didn't lose too much, the 8 core likely even less. My 5800x3D doesn't seem to reach the TDP power rating even in stress tests and benchmarks.

      I built this >$1000 1440p gaming pc for my son during a live stream last week using some quality info you provided. It's awesome pcpartpicker.com/user/emomelodic/saved/FcfvRB and I really appreciate your channel. NOTE: I got the parts for around $780 when I purchased it and had $ room for a nice curved monitor.
      I went with this build so we could update to a 13th gen i5,7,9 , drr5 and videocard in 5 years as needed instead of being locked into zen3,ddr4 and such. :) #gamerdad

    Jason I have to tell you, man. I NEVER thought in a billion years I would be able to build a PC from parts like this. But I watched this video about 50 times, bought pretty much all the parts you suggested and just tried to follow everything you did step by step. Could not believe it when I turned the thing on and it actually worked. And then I flashed the BIOS and that worked. And then I stressed out about the monitor until I watched one of your recommendation videos and bought that too. I am 100% inexperienced with this stuff and I am amazed and really grateful that you helped me understand and do something I never thought I would be able to. Thank you man!

      i really didn't like the whole, "here's a list of a wide range of performance and price parts. they're all great for gaming or productivity." at least showing proper benchmarks for both minimum and maximum builds, not just very high UHD benches and just the optimum build, would have actually been useful information. for the most part, it just felt like a time capsule price list.

      Generally speaking you lower your voltage as much as possible until you see video errors while bench marking, then you want to raise your vram speed with the same logic and maybe increase wattage/ power consumption to stabilize those higher speeds and you’re all set, for example my 6650xt has 1120mv instead of 1200mv and I have a 3000mhz clock speed and 10% more wattage to stabilize it and I got like 10 frames on my lows in a benchmark

Not having a single problem, Even working few days on XMP 3.0 flawlessly, but in the end went with EXPO... Without EXPO it goes @ 4800Mhz, motherboard can sustain RAM overclock to 6200Mhz+ Very happy with the whole setup in the end. Thank you Jason for your beautiful content

    WoW the detail in component selection is just the best. Two comments would be to actually show all details for the water cooler setup and install as well as connecting all the cables to the MoB and components. I know this is probably boring for experienced builders but for folks like myself that are considering to do their first build at some point I think it would add much for the less experienced. Perhaps just a video on this as a standalone would be a way to go. Why? Because it's obvious you are showing us how to do things right starting with matching the components and then the install to get the best performance. I think this is the build I will be saving up for! Thx so much Jason! Well Done!

    according to Computerbase, the 7800X3D draws around 60-64W during Gaming and the RTX4090 when undervolted and limited to 144fps (many Gamers have 144Hz Monitors), draws only 110W during Gaming. So a 1000W PSU is overkill. A Good 850W PSU would do just fine.

I did read that plugging in multiple m.2 can cut your cords in half on you GPU. I’ve been trying to figure out which one not to use and can’t find. It. I figured I would go to the source that helped me build my first cpu. Thanks for your time.

    Okay, so came here after your recommendation in a community post. My god. Thank you so much for explaining everything. This is amazing to learn the ins and outs on what to look for and what to build in a PC and get the best bang for your buck. Probably will pull the trigger in May on this build, but I'm really looking forward to this.
    On a second note, can you go even higher on RAM? Or is it unnecessary due to how strong everything else is. Yes, I am using this for gaming/streaming, so this is right up my alley. It also looks amazing.
    Thank you, Jason, for your hard work and research.

I play on 120htz Samsung 4k 65' TV. I built it in February. Dealing w asus was a nightmare. I went through 3 sets of ram on the qvl before the rms. I am 99% sure they just flashed a bios that wasn't available to the public at the time. It's a beast of a machine. The case is awesome if you can look past the fact that only one of the front USB a ports work unless you buy the extra front IO option which I couldn't find at the time. It outperforms my "monitor" as far as framerate. I get a solid 120 4k, and the cpu rarely breaks 70°. It cost almost as much as my used car

    I built a new PC on a ROG STRIX B650E-F motherboard went with a AMD Ryzen™ 7 7700X and for memory I went with GIGABYTE AORUS 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 5200MHz CL40. I have had no issues as of yet other then the first CPU was dead out of the box. I decided to only fill two DIMM slots as I wanted to avoid memory issues on the AM5 platform. Great video kind of wishing I had the extra 400.00 USD at the time to have the exact same build as seen here. I too went with a Lancool 216 it's a great case and it was so easy to build in plus the price was very competitive.
    I'm planning on upgrading the GPU when I can save up some more money. I went with a Rx6750 XT and at 1440p with two monitors it's been great. I was the first of my group of friends to upgrade to AM5 and can pass the savings along to a friend when I upgrade the GPU. Hope you love your new PC as much as I do can't wait for the next video cheers!

  • @annettesurfer
    @annettesurfer ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I installed the 140mm $30 CoolerMaster ARGB Halo as an exact swap (@14:25) instead of downsizing to the 120mm Halo but then the price for that 120mm wasn’t listed in the build sheet @14:56 so that’s a slight omission.
    Looks like the white Halo MF120 is $20.68 and a 3pk is $61.68 from A.
    No matter because either way, those two front intake fans will provide the positive pressure to ensure dust won’t draw from unfiltered areas. I suggest the optional magnetic filter for the front, which is less than $20 to the door from N.E.
    As for the Lian Li Lancool 216, the top control “pod” can be relocated to the side, but the cables seem a bit stiff at first to bend into that position.

    • @bassiuskardaun
      @bassiuskardaun ปีที่แล้ว

      @annettesurfer ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bassiuskardaun Cooling depends on the requirement of the CPU, case, and perhaps any heat producing components such as an old-school HDD, which I omitted in my white Lian Li Lancool 216 RGB case (3/23 $115 Amazon) since a 1 TB NVMe (Samsung 970 Evo Plus, 9/20 $190 Amazon) is more than enough for my needs.
      The old MSI Godlike Z490 MB (9/20 $700 NE) is idling around 34c right now with an old i9-10900K CPU (8/20 $530 BestBuy)
      The 2 stock front 160mm PWM ARGB intake fans provide filtered air through the optional Lian Li LAN216-2W (white) magnetic dust filter. (3/23 $13 Newegg)
      The stock rear 140mm non-RGB exhaust fan was replaced with a white MasterFan MF140 Halo ARGB fan. (3/23 $30 Amazon)

Perhaps the stock Godlike MB settings play a role). (8/20 $259.98 Amazon)
      The PSU is an old seasonic Focus GX-850W 80+ gold, A-tier/ high end on the cultist list. (8/2020 $140 Amazon)
      The GPU is an old EVGA RTX 2080 Ti XC Ultra (11G-P4-2383-KR) (11/2020 $796 eBay used w/remaining warranty)
      The OS is Windows 11 Pro that was activated via an inexpensive code from a youtube video, perhaps this site.
      Too bad I can't post a pic.
      Other stuff: The 1000R Curved Gaming Monitor is a 32” Samsung Odyssey G7-QHD 240hz 1ms QLED 2560x1440 Gsync & Freesync (11/21 $534 Samsung direct)

Skill Trident Z 4000 15-16-16-36 (4x8GB) Samsung 980 Pro 1TB gen4. The trade wasn’t that great for me but it’s family.
